Abstract

This research will discuss the advantages of a NACA 0015 airfoil with a split configuration under varying Reynolds numbers. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations with a K-epsilon turbulence model were conducted on a two-dimensional split airfoil to achieve this goal. Initially, simulations were carried out for the unsplit airfoil geometry at different Reynolds numbers within an angle of attack (AoA) range of 00 to 250. Subsequently, simulations were performed for the split airfoil geometry at various Reynolds numbers within the same AoA range. The unsplit airfoil experiences stall at AoA greater than 110 degrees, while the split airfoil experiences stall at AoA greater than 130 degrees. Additionally, using a split airfoil enhances Cl, with an average increase of approximately 7-8% across different Reynolds numbers. In addition to the Cl improvement, the split airfoil exhibits lower Cd values than the unsplit airfoil, with an average reduction of about 26-28% across all Reynolds number variations. Overall, using separate airfoils improves the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil, with an average increase in Cl/Cd of approximately 33-37% across all Reynolds number variations. In conclusion, the split airfoil performs better than the unsplit airfoil.

Abstract

Abstract: Guidance and counselling play a crucial role in facilitating student development. Interesting phenomena have been observed on one of the Junior High School in the city of Malang: students’ reluctance to attend the Guidance and Counselling room, their fear and anxiety when called to meet the counsellor and their suboptimal utilisation of Guidance and Counselling services. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological approach to describe students’ interests and the counsellors’ attempts towards Guidance and Counselling services. This study comprised students in seventh through ninth grades, counsellors, principals, vice principals for student affairs, and homeroom teachers serving as informants. The study’s findings indicated that (1) numerous students were interested in classical guidance services. On the other hand, counselling, group guidance, instagram ,and Bookshelf were less desirable; (2) Student interest was affected by elements of perception, school personnel, parents, society, and mass media; (3) counselors stimulate interest through the counseling program according to students' conditions, build harmonious relationships, and collaborate with teacher and parents; (4) School personnel, parents, and the government provide encouraging and inhibiting factors to cultivate student interest, which was subsequently reinforced through classical guidance for seventh grade, home visits, parenting seminars, and peer cooperation. Based on these findings, it is hoped that the counselor will assess the management program for the better. Abstract

Abortion is a maternal emergency with an incidence of 10-15% of 6 million pregnancies each year. Self efficacy is one of the main factors to improve coping behavior towards perceived loss. The mother's inability to deal with problems causes prolonged grief and affects future health, so efforts are needed to increase self-efficacy and reduce maternal anxiety. Mother's self-efficacy and anxiety are influenced by knowledge. Increased knowledge can be done by providing a complementary package of interventions "TEGAR". This study uses a pre-experimental design method with a One-Group Pre-Post test design approach. The study was conducted for six months in RSUD dr. Rasidin Padang with a sample of 22 mothers who experienced spontaneous abortion during the last three months. The instrument that will be used is a questionnaire. The results of the study will be processed with a paired T-test statistical test. The results showed that the mean value of Self Efficacy before being given the intervention was 23.82 and after being given the intervention was 64.32. The average value of anxiety before being given the intervention was 64.32 and after being given the intervention was 41.41. There is a difference in the mean value between before and after the intervention was given with a p-value of 0.000. It is hoped that health services can use complementary education packages as a therapy to increase self-efficacy and reduce maternal anxiety after abortion.

Abstract

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) applications include electric vehicles, industrial pumps, wind turbines, aerospace technology, and many others. In this study, cogging torque is the central aspect of the discussion, which is the motor model, the thickness of the permanent magnet rotor, and the air gap in the electric motor influence. The Taguchi method uses parameter levels on the motor, which are divided into 16 types of orthogonal arrays, where the process is carried out twice in iterations. The first stage of simulation testing was to produce the primary model where number 4 (A1B4 series) was obtained as the most optimal motor model with a cogging torque of 1.56 Nm and an air gap flux density of 768 mTesla (mili tesla). Then the second test was to modify several parts of the motor with the following 16 orthogonal array types, which produced number 8 (A2B4 series) with a cogging torque of 1.08 Nm and an air gap flux density of 733 mTesla. One of the parameters apart from the cogging torque must be maintained is the air gap flux density. This variable affects the permeability of the motor so that later it will affect the amount of material used and the production costs of electric motors. The final result is a model that produces the lowest cogging torque while maintaining other parameters on the motor.

Abstract

The influence of guide vane length and Reynolds number was investigated using computational fluid dynamics methods. By using a structured mesh, it is known that the three mesh variations used have been verified using the Richardson Extrapolation method. The validation process also showed quite good results. From this research, it can be seen from the velocity profile trend, which is close to the experimental results from previous studies. Changing the Reynolds number does not significantly change the velocity profile at the outlet bend. However, it can be seen that changes in the Reynolds number impact the fluid flow pattern produced around the pipe bend. It can be seen clearly, especially when the velocity is negative. Changing the length of the guide vane changes the flow pattern quite significantly. It is known that the shorter the guide vane used, the velocity profile will tend towards the outer core. Furthermore, using a guide vane increases the velocity profile at the position -0.3≤r/R≤ -0.06. Using a guide vane has proven to eliminate negative velocity areas on the inner core side of each variation.

Abstract

Gas-liquid two-phase is a situation where the gas phase of a liquid coexists together. The presence of gas that forms a region in the liquid environment causes the formation of bubble flow. The parameters of the bubble flow carry important information about the behavior and characteristics of the bubble. This research was carried out by detecting the size and area of the bubble using YOLOv8-based image processing by comparing the model's performance to produce improvements in inference time, increase accuracy, and reduce computational load. Bubble images were collected by adding 0.4 mm copper wire as a comparison to convert mm to pixels; then, the images were labeled and trained with various YOLOv8 models. Confusion matrix, precision and recall are used as comparative evaluation materials for the YOLOv8 model to obtain good model performance. In this study, the AUC of the Precision and Recall curve closest to the value 1 is the YOLOv8m model of 0.990. The comparison results of the matrix evaluation with the best model are the YOLOv8m model with mAP of 99.00% and F1-score of 96.86%. Microbubble measurements are calculated from the output of the YOLOv8 model by converting pixel units to mm. The model used in bubble measurements is the model with the best evaluation results and the model that gets the smallest radius value by considering measurement uncertainty, namely YOLOv8m with a minimum radius of 0.66 ± 0.04 mm..

Abstract

The massive circulation of hoaxes on social media is currently a fairly complex problem in society. One simple way that is considered effective to reduce the rate of hoaxes is to not disseminate information without prior verification. Verification efforts with the aim of minimizing the impact of this hoax can be referred to as criticality. The term criticality is basically still quite new when compared to the term critical thinking. Criticality refers to the concept of critical thinking accompanied by a commitment to act based on socio-cultural values. The purpose of this study was to develop a criticality scale related to hoaxes on social media. The method used is quantitative involving 400 students from state universities in Malang City. The results of this study indicate that the criticality scale related to hoaxes developed has met the criteria of good validity and reliability.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to characterize the implementation of the online teaching and learning process (Synchronous and Asynchronous learning), including supportive and barrier elements, students' experiences with online learning, and future expectations for participation. During the COVID-19 epidemic, students are after completing the process of introducing online teaching and learning. The investigation was conducted out at SMK Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi, which is located in Tebing Tinggi. This study uses qualitative methodologies in its investigation. Teachers from SMK Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi were employed as participants in this study. Semi-regular inquiries and replies, as well as taking images and assessing field outcomes, were utilized to report data. The COVID-19 epidemic has had a significant impact on education, particularly the teaching and learning process; the implementation, which was formerly done face-to-face, has now been switched to an online teaching and learning process (Synchronous learning and Asynchronous learning). The availability of modern devices such as computers and cell-phones  are as well as data bundles and reliable internet connections. There are also certain barriers for instructors in implementing the online teaching and learning process, such as numerous complaints about acquiring internet quotas, and students who are more inclined or hooked to using smartphones for entertainment than for doing homework. It is believed that through studying in this manner, children would be able to practice responsibility and extend their understanding of how to use existing technologies in the future.
