Abstract

This study investigates peer coaching as an alternative approach to improving teachers’ ability in conducting science learning in the classroom. The research was conducted in Pekanbaru with a total sample of eight teachers, who were divided into experimental and control groups. The results of the study indicate that peer coaching has a positive impact on the success of teachers’ inquiry practices, enabling them to implement and integrate all essential aspects of the science learning process more effectively.

Abstract

Guru, murid, dan bahan ajar merupakan unsur dominan dalam proses pembelajaran yang menentukan kualitas dan efektivitas kegiatan belajar mengajar. Kualitas pengajaran yang baik akan meningkatkan keefektifan proses pembelajaran dan berdampak langsung pada pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA kelas V SD Negeri 099 Pekanbaru yang berjumlah 34 orang, terdiri atas 14 siswa laki-laki dan 20 siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan one-group pretest–posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap pretest, siswa yang mencapai rentang nilai 60–100 berjumlah 5 orang atau sekitar 15%, sedangkan pada posttest meningkat menjadi 25 orang siswa atau sekitar 74%. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis masalah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA kelas V SD Negeri 099 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the management function of the SKS program indicators in the Merdeka Curriculum at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through documentation, observation and interviews. The data analysis technique of this research uses the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study include 1) planning the SKS program at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City including holding meetings, preparing planning documents, mapping students and socializing the SKS program. 2) the organization of the SKS program at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City includes the appointment of the SKS program implementation team, as well as the division of tasks and their respective roles. 3) the implementation of the SKS program at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City includes using the Merdeka Curriculum with a differentiated learning process and providing learning services according to their respective abilities. 4) controlling the SKS program at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City, including the relevance of the SKS program to the vision and mission of the madrasah, supervision is carried out by madrasah supervisors, madrasah heads and deputy heads of academic fields to ensure that the SKS program is implemented according to implementation guidelines and summative and formative assessments are carried out as a form of student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Analysis of potential and problems is necessary for developing the tourism concept. The potential and problems in Sering Village need to be mapped to obtain a comprehensive conclusion that is further required in the decision-making process. The analysis of this research can be processed through various decision-making techniques. This study aims to map the potential and problems in Sering Village in terms of government support, marketing potential of attractions and flagship products, and the human resources of the community as supporting factors. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The case study is focused on Sering Village, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. Data collection techniques involve interviews with village officials and 20 local residents. Solutions offered come from relevant literature reviews. Data analysis is descriptive, and the data obtained from local residents are analyzed descriptively with the help of charts. The results of this research show that the village's potential includes the attraction of local wisdom, Lake Sengkulim, close access to the winged palace, and the paper and pulp industry center, where access to the winged palace can be reached by land or river routes. Community involvement has been included in decision-making. There is already government cooperation with the industry to support environmental sustainability. The identified problems are the lack of specific regulations for tourism villages and the need to improve human resources related to tourism and marketing. Solutions that can be implemented include strengthening synergy with the government to expedite the approval of tourism village regulations and providing periodic training to improve the skills of the population related to tourism, product development, and marketing.

Abstract

Characterized by rapid technological progress, education today demands teachers who are not only digitally literate but also capable of fostering computational thinking (CT) in students. However, many elementary teachers still face challenges in integrating coding and STEM principles into classroom learning. This community service program was designed to empower elementary school teachers in Bengkalis Regency through the integration of STEM-based coding to enhance their CT skills. The two-day program involved 50 teachers from 22 schools and employed a combination of conceptual sessions on deep learning and CT, unplugged coding practices using Kids First Coding and Robotics (Smart Bricks), plug-in coding practices with Scratch for Arduino (S4A) and workshops to develop STEM-based science lesson plans (RPP) showcased through microteaching. Results revealed an average post-test CT score of 79.3, with 82% of teachers achieving mastery (≥70). Teachers successfully created innovative lesson plans integrating CT into science topics such as phase changes of matter and the solar system. The microteaching sessions showed that participants could contextualize coding-STEM learning effectively. Teacher reflections emphasized the need for continuous training, sufficient facilities, and the establishment of a coding-STEM teacher community. In conclusion, integrating STEM-based coding effectively enhanced teachers’ CT skills and pedagogical competence while supporting the goals of Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Abad ke-21 menuntut siswa memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis sebagai bagian dari kompetensi pembelajaran modern dan keterampilan abad 21. Namun, hasil survei PISA menunjukkan bahwa capaian literasi dan numerasi siswa Indonesia masih berada di bawah rata-rata internasional, yang mengindikasikan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Kondisi ini menunjukkan perlunya inovasi dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara yang dilakukan, pembelajaran masih didominasi metode konvensional dan berpusat pada guru, serta belum memanfaatkan model pembelajaran inovatif yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam mengeksplorasi dan memecahkan masalah. Akibatnya, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa belum berkembang secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terintegrasi STEM terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experimental tipe non-equivalent control group design. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model PjBL terintegrasi STEM lebih efektif dibandingkan PjBL tanpa integrasi STEM. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nilai N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,431 (kategori sedang), lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,176 (kategori rendah). Selain itu, hasil uji t memperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,002 < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model PjBL terintegrasi STEM efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan rendahnya kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Untuk merespon hal tersebut maka peneliti melakukan eksperimen yang berjudul pengaruh pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa kelas V SD. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan RME terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metode quasi eksperimental type non equivalent control group desain. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD Negeri 40 Pekanbaru dengan subjek penelitiannya yaitu siswa kelas VB sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VA sebagai kelas control. Teknik pengambilan data pada penelitian ini dengan menggunakan soal tes dan dokumentasi. Hasil yang diitemukan menunjukkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan RME berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa kelas V yang menjadi lebih meningkat. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji mann whitney dengan taraf signifikansi sebesar 0,001 < 0,005, sehingga diperoleh kesimpulan Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh pendekatan RME terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa kelas V SD

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning on elementary school students' scientific literacy. STEM learning is seen as an integrative approach that can develop conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities through exploratory, investigative, and project-based activities. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design on 60 elementary school students who were divided into experimental and control classes. The instrument used was a scientific literacy test that covered aspects of conceptual understanding, data interpretation, and the application of scientific knowledge in real-life contexts. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' scientific literacy after participating in STEM learning. The experimental class experienced a significantly higher increase in scores than the control class, and the t-test results showed a p value = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of STEM learning on scientific literacy. These findings indicate that the STEM approach can create more active, contextual, and meaningful learning for students, especially through the integration of project activities and simple technology that facilitates the visualization of abstract concepts. Thus, science learning in elementary schools needs to be directed towards a more integrative, interactive, and student-centered model to encourage the strengthening of scientific literacy according to the demands of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

The implementation of STEM learning in primary schools is increasingly recommended to meet the skills needs of the 21st century, especially critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills. However, implementation in the field does not always run smoothly, especially when students do not yet have experience with project-based learning. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of STEM-PjBL learning in Grade IV elementary school by examining the obstacles that arise, the effectiveness of corrective actions through classroom action research (CAR), and the extent to which teacher mentoring strategies can increase student engagement and collaboration. The research method used two cycles of classroom action research (CAR) involving 28 students. Data were collected through collaboration rubrics, project assessment rubrics, observation sheets, and student reflections. The results showed that in cycle I, students still experienced difficulties such as an imbalance of roles within groups, the dominance of certain members, and confusion in following the STEM project flow. However, after the implementation of structured scaffolding, clearer instructions, and a more systematic division of roles, there was an increase in student engagement and project quality in cycle II. Collaboration scores increased by approximately 24–28%, and product quality improved by 30%. These findings confirm that STEM-PjBL learning is highly dependent on instructional design, teacher readiness, and the clarity of assessment tools. This article provides recommendations for more realistic STEM implementation.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a pekasam-themed module integrating Riau Malay local wisdom into the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) project. Using a Research and Development (R&D) design with the ADDIE model, the study involved 30 sixth-grade students and three teachers at SDN 012 Lalang Kabung, Riau. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, expert validation, and documentation, analyzed with Aiken’s V for validity and Cronbach’s Alpha for reliability. Findings showed that independence (3.17; 73% high) and creativity (2.97) were strengthened, while collaboration (2.87) and critical reasoning (2.83) remained weaker; student enthusiasm for local culture was very high (4.0). Expert validation confirmed strong content and language quality (0.83) but indicated the need for refinement in visual aspects (0.67–0.75). In conclusion, culture-based project learning effectively nurtures autonomy and identity, though collaboration and critical reasoning require further pedagogical support. This study contributes a practical model of culturally responsive pedagogy aligned with national character education and global deep learning frameworks, with future research advised to test its adaptability across regions and long-term impacts.
