Abstract

This research and development (R&D) activity aims to develop a reliable, practical, and effective inquiry learning model that includes preliminary research, product design and development, and assessment. In this development process, the stages outlined by Plomp and Nieveen are adopted. Forty pharmacy students from the pharmacy study program of a state university in Malang, East Java, took part in learning during the 2021-2022 academic year. A questionnaire with Likert Scale 4 categories is a research tool. The expert validation test revealed that "Eligible" is the average result of the validator's assessment criteria. It is possible to immediately implement product results that reach 90.25% on developed media and 89.60% for digital teaching materials with interactive digital flip-book concepts. In terms of the practicality of the products developed, the average V values achieved were 0.86, 0.92, and 0.85, respectively. The results of hypothesis testing in the implementation show that Sig. value (Sig. (2-tailed)) was 0.002, which is smaller than the 0.05 significance level. Accordingly, the research findings confirm a notable improvement in students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the implementation of the inquiry learning model through multimedia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of supervision in sustainable education quality management in primary schools. The background of the study is based on the importance of supervision as a strategic instrument to improve the overall quality of education, not only as an administrative control tool. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation, and data analysis of the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that supervision has five main roles in improving the quality of education, namely coaching teachers, improving professional competence, monitoring and evaluating learning quality, encouraging learning innovation, and building a culture of reflection. These five roles significantly contribute to improving the quality of the learning process, teacher professionalism and the creation of a sustainable culture of quality in primary schools.

Abstract

Language variation in specific social settings, known as register, is a vital area of sociolinguistics that reflects the dynamic nature of communication. This study investigates the types of registers and their linguistic forms used in Shopee Live, a real-time e-commerce platform that enables direct interaction between sellers and buyers. Unlike previous studies that focused on static online platforms, this research explores the spontaneous and interactive nature of live streaming commerce. A descriptive qualitative method was employed to analyze the utterances from four skincare online shops during Shopee Live sessions. The data were collected through observation, transcription, and interviews, and validated using source and technique triangulation. The analysis applied Martin Joos’s theory of register types and Halliday’s theory of situational context. The findings reveal two types of register used: consultative (17 data) and casual (19 data), with the casual register being more dominant. Consultative registers typically appeared in semi-formal buyer-seller exchanges and used nouns and verbs to deliver product information professionally. Casual registers were characterized by informal expressions, simple noun phrases, and emotional or persuasive language aimed at engaging viewers. The dominance of the casual register reflects the sellers' strategy to build closeness with buyers while maintaining informative content through the consultative register. This study highlights how sellers adjust their linguistic choices to suit the communicative needs of the Shopee Live environment, balancing professionalism and friendliness to optimize buyer engagement.
