Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an acute febrile disease caused by the dengue virus. Indonesia has relatively high cases of DHF, and DHF outbreaks often occur. Various efforts and prevention programs have been carried out, but DHF increases every year. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between mosquito larvae breeding sites and mosquito nest eradication (PSN) with the incidence of DHF in the Oesapa Village, Kupang City, Kelapa Lima District. This research was quantitative research using a cross-sectional study. The research sample was 95 families taken using simple random sampling and the Lemeshow formula. The data was analyzed univariable and bivariable using the chi-square test. The results showed that the factors associated with the incidence of DHF were mosquito larvae breeding sites (p-value = 0.005) and PSN (p-value = 0.014). Implementing 3M Plus movement is necessary to eradicate mosquito larvae, namely draining, closing, and burying. The pluses are using mosquito repellent, mosquito nets, and avoiding the habit of hanging clothes in the house, which can be a mosquito-resting place.

Abstract

Incomplete antenatal care result in risks and complications of pregnancy that are not detected early and can lead maternal and infant mortality. The main factor causing the death of pregnant women each year is due to bleeding. This can be prevented with complete and rutine antenatal care. Based on data from the Melolo Health Center, the coverage of visits by pregnant women to ANC services (K1 and K4) in 2017 amounted to 579 (K1 50% and K4 48%), in 2018 there were 542 (K1 51% and K4 45%) and in 2019 amounted to 486 (K1 62% and K4 50%) and the coverage of visits by pregnant women has not reached the target set, namely K1 100% and K4 95%. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, knowledge, attitudes, distance to health services, and husband/family support with the completeness of antenatal care visits in the Melolo Health Center, East Sumba Regency in 2020. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study design. The sample in this study consisted of 66 people with the sampling technique carried out by total sampling. The data analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between age, knowledge, attitude, and husband support with completeness of antenatal care visits. Health workers especially midwives are expected to carry out monitoring and home visits of pregnant women as well as to carry out intensive communication with pregnant women and their families so that they can carry out pregnancy checks according to standard. The husband’s role in providing motivation, attention and accompanying pregnant women in conducting ANC examinations.

Abstract

Stunting describes the unfulfilled intake of nutrients needed by toddlers that has been going on for a long time since the fetus is in the womb until the child is born and the first 2 years of the child's life. The aim of this study was to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months. This research is an analytic survey research based on a cross sectional study. The sample in this study amounted to 103 toddlers who were selected by simple random sampling technique. This research was conducted from September to October 2020. Data were collected by conducting interviews, observations, filling out questionnaires and also documentation. In the bivariate analysis the chi-square test was used and the multivariate analysis used the multiple logistic regression test. The results of multivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.003), feeding patterns (p-value = 0.010), maternal education (p-value = 0.019) and a history of LBW (p-value = 0.000). LBW history is the factor most associated with the incidence of stunting. It is hoped that expectant mothers and mothers will understand correctly about the problem of stunting, its causes and protection factors so that efforts to prevent and overcome stunting can be carried out. It is hoped that the Puskesmas will continue to make health promotion efforts regarding stunting and the factors that influence it.

Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is still the third largest contributor to Malaria cases in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 12%, Papua (18.4%) and West Papua (26.1%). Directly border with The Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL) with Mota'ain as the main crossing point, increases the risk of infectious diseases transmission. Mota’ain is located in coastal areas, swamps, river basins, former fish ponds, and rice fields potentially to be Anopheles sp. habitats. The purpose of this research is to examine the characteristics and spatial distribution of potential breeding habitats for Anopheles sp. in Mota'ain. This is a descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The Anopheles sp mosquito bionomic area, which included swamps, rice fields, estuaries around the perimeter, and the buffer area of the Mota'ain border, served as the research sample. The spatial regression test was used to analyze the data, and the results revealed three points of Anopheles sp larvae habitats, namely fish ponds, swamps, and river basin. In the buffer area, 24 (80%) of the larvae habitats were found within a 200-meter radius, and 24 (80%) of the larvae habitats were found within a 400-meter radius 6 (20%). There was no habitat found around the perimeter. With a habitat index of 50%, the density of Anopheles sp larvae per catch ranged from 0.04 to 12.03. Anopheles sp larvae discovered included Anopheles Barbirostris, Anopheles Subpictus, and Anopheles Vagus. Swamps have the most habitat (3,004.7 m2), while river basins have the least (3,004.7 m2) (2.93 m2). The Spatial Regression Test revealed that habitat area (p = 0.014), water pH (p = 0.015), and salinity (p = 0.00012) were significant. This means that habitat area, water pH, and salinity all have an effect on Anopheles sp. density, whereas temperature has no effect (p = 0.778). Cleaning aquatic plants and employing larval predators to prevent larval breeding.
