Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the agricultural sector on poverty rates in rural areas of North Sumatra during the period 2015–2024. The background of this study is based on the fact that most rural residents depend on the agricultural sector for their livelihoods, but the poverty rate is still relatively high. This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and simple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 2022. The results of the study show that the agricultural sector has a significant effect on poverty rates, as indicated by the significance value of the T test and F test of 0.009 (<0.05). A negative regression coefficient of -0.022 indicates an inverse relationship, namely that an increase in the contribution of the agricultural sector tends to reduce poverty rates. The R² value of 0.599 indicates that 59.9% of the variation in poverty rates is explained by the agricultural sector, while the remaining 40.1% is influenced by other factors. This study concludes that strengthening the agricultural sector through increased productivity, access to technology, and sustainable policy support is an important strategy in reducing poverty in rural areas of North Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of minimum wages and unemployment rates on poverty levels in Indonesia during the period 2015–2024. Poverty remains one of the most persistent socio-economic challenges in developing countries, including Indonesia, where economic growth does not always lead to equitable welfare distribution. Minimum wage policies are expected to improve the income of low-income workers, while high unemployment rates tend to increase the number of people living below the poverty line. Therefore, understanding the interaction between these variables is essential for designing effective poverty reduction strategies. This research employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between minimum wages, unemployment rates, and poverty levels. The study utilizes secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) covering the 2015–2024 period. Data were processed using statistical software to test both the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on poverty. The results reveal that minimum wage and unemployment rate variables significantly affect poverty levels, both partially and simultaneously. However, the effect of minimum wage increases on reducing poverty is not always consistent, particularly when not accompanied by improvements in labor productivity and job creation. Conversely, the unemployment rate has shown a strong and positive relationship with poverty, indicating that higher unemployment tends to raise poverty levels. The findings highlight the importance of integrating wage policies with employment and productivity enhancement programs to achieve sustainable poverty reduction in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between education level, open poverty level, and poverty in Nias Regency during the period 2013–2023. Nias Regency still faces major challenges in economic and social development, relatively low levels of community education, declining unemployment rates, and poverty lines that tend to increase from year to year. Based on BPS data and various recent scientific literature, it was found that improvements in education have not significantly reduced poverty rates. Expert opinions such as Zebua and Laoli (2023) state that low workforce skills are the main cause of high poverty rates. Meanwhile, Latif and Ramadhani (2024) emphasize the importance of investing in education in reducing poverty rates sustainably. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with secondary data analysis to determine the pattern of relationships between variables. The results of the analysis are expected to be used as consideration in the preparation of regional policies that focus on strengthening the quality of human resources as a strategy for overcoming poverty in Nias Regency.

Abstract

The global halal supply chain encountered significant transparency challenges and fragmented information sharing across international borders. This research developed an integrated traceability system utilizing Internet of Things sensors and a permissioned Blockchain architecture to ensure the religious integrity of products. The study followed the Design Science Research methodology, simulating the logistics of protein-based products across multiple global stakeholders with three hundred network nodes. Results demonstrated that the integrated system achieved a throughput of three hundred fifty transactions per second with a latency of less than two seconds. Sensor data provided real-time monitoring of environmental conditions with a ninety-nine point eight percent accuracy rate in detecting unauthorized deviations. The implementation reduced the total time required for end-to-end traceability from seven days to less than thirty minutes, leading to an eighty-five percent reduction in administrative paperwork. Stakeholder evaluations indicated an eighty-nine percent increase in consumer trust towards the digitalized halal certification. The study concluded that the synergy between the Internet of Things and Blockchain established a reliable "Halal by Design" framework that automated compliance through smart contracts. Although financial barriers for small and medium enterprises persisted, the system provided a scalable solution for maintaining religious and operational integrity in global markets. This innovation offered significant contributions to the digital transformation of the Sharia economy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mechanisms through which the stringency of the ESG legal framework influences the financial performance of Indonesian state-owned enterprises (SOEs), via the mediating role of green financing adoption and ESG performance, and the moderating roles of sustainability management control systems and regulatory enforcement effectiveness. A quantitative associative design was employed, collecting perceptual data from 47 middle-to-senior managers across 16 SOEs operating in Medan, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test a moderated mediation model. The results reveal that perceived legal stringency positively drives green financing adoption, which in turn enhances financial performance indirectly through improved ESG outcomes, indicating full mediation. Furthermore, the translation of green financing into ESG improvements is significantly strengthened when sustainability management control systems are robust. The positive impact of legal stringency on financial performance is also amplified by the perceived effectiveness of regulatory enforcement.

Abstract

Digital readiness determines the ability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to convert access to digital financial services into sustained business value. This study analyzes the effects of digital literacy, digital infrastructure readiness, and security and privacy awareness on sustainable digital finance adoption (SDFA), as well as the subsequent impact of SDFA on business innovation orientation (BIO) among MSMEs in Mebidang, North Sumatra. Survey data from 320 MSME owners or managers in Medan, Binjai, and Deli Serdang were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling with 5,000 bootstrap subsamples. The results indicate that digital literacy (β = 0.312, p < 0.001), digital infrastructure readiness (β = 0.374, p < 0.001), and security and privacy awareness (β = 0.246, p < 0.001) positively influence SDFA. Digital infrastructure readiness is identified as the strongest antecedent. SDFA significantly impacts BIO (β = 0.681, p < 0.001). The model explains 64.2% of the variance in SDFA and 46.4% of the variance in BIO. This study distinguishes sustainable adoption from sporadic digital finance usage by emphasizing continuity, efficiency, transparency, trust, recordkeeping, and responsible financial behavior. The findings suggest that regional MSME programs should integrate infrastructure support, practical digital literacy, cybersecurity capabilities, and the integration of digital finance with bookkeeping and business decision-making.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the contribution of an expanded marketing mix, specifically the 7+1P model (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, Physical Evidence, and Privacy), to the success of closing deals in subsidized housing in Medan City. The research utilizes a quantitative approach with descriptive and verification designs, involving a sample of 350 respondents including buyers, developers, and marketing personnel. Data were collected via closed questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression using SPSS software. The results demonstrate that all elements of the 7+1P marketing mix Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, Physical Evidence, and Privacy have a positive and significant effect on closing deals both partially and simultaneously. The model explains 68% of the variation in closing success, with Privacy emerging as the most influential factor, followed by Product and Place. Consequently, it is recommended that developers strategically integrate privacy elements, such as personal data protection, digital transaction security, and residential environmental comfort, as key differentiators to build consumer trust. Furthermore, developers must continue to optimize product quality and strategic locations to remain competitive and meet the specific housing needs of low-income communities.
