Abstract

Work stress is a state of tension that arises due to an imbalance between physical and psychological demands. Factors contributing to work stress include both job-related and individual factors. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the risk of work stress among crew members of the Kelud Ship at Belawan Port in 2025. The study used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The research was conducted from July 2024 to March 2025. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, involving 50 crew members of the Kelud Ship at Belawan Port. The results showed significant relationships between age (p=0.035), physical work environment (p=0.001), workload (p=0.005), salary or wages (p=0.001), and interpersonal relationships (p=0.000) with the risk of work stress. The most dominant factor influencing work stress risk was workload. Therefore, it is recommended that the management of the Kelud Ship organize crew activities more efficiently, manage working and rest times appropriately to prevent fatigue, implement fair task rotations to avoid monotony, and maintain a balanced workload. Additionally, fostering open communication between the crew, captain, and management is essential to reduce misunderstandings and create a more harmonious working environment that promotes mutual support among crew members.

Abstract

The aging process results in muscle weakness, physical decline, and various degenerative diseases. These factors significantly affect the quality of life of the elderly, as they reduce independence and force them to rely on others for assistance. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting the quality of life of the elderly in the working area of the Medan Denai Public Health Center in 2025. A quantitative research approach with a descriptive correlational design was used. The research was conducted from July 2024 to January 2025 at the Medan Denai Health Center. The sample consisted of 143 elderly individuals selected through accidental sampling, specifically those who visited the health center for treatment or consultation. The results showed a significant relationship between quality of life and several variables: gender (p = 0.001), marital status (p = 0.000), income (p = 0.005), stress (p = 0.005), social interaction (p = 0.007), and family support (p = 0.001). The most dominant factor influencing the quality of life was family support. Therefore, it is recommended that the elderly receive sufficient support to remain active and independent in their daily activities. Social interaction with peers should be encouraged to prevent loneliness, which could lead to stress. Furthermore, providing educational support and involving retired or non-working elderly in light, non-competitive, and deadline-free tasks can enhance their sense of productivity and usefulness within the family. Health centers are encouraged to continue supporting the elderly and to conduct family education programs to promote independence and activity among elderly individuals in their daily routines

Abstract

In the prevention of dengue fever risk, the Health Belief Model can be a useful tool to understand how the public's perceptions and attitudes towards prevention efforts affect the risk of dengue fever occurrence. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of the Health Belief Model on the risk factors for dengue fever occurrence in the working area of Sei Suka Public Health Center, Batubara Regency, in 2025. This research is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional study design. The research period will be from July 2024 to January 2025. The sample consists of 100 heads of households. Bivariate data analysis will use the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis will employ logistic regression. The results of the bivariate analysis show a relationship between perceived susceptibility (p=0.010), perceived severity (p=0.001), perceived benefits (p=0.000), perceived barriers (p=0.001), and cues to action (p=0.000) with the risk of dengue fever occurrence in the working area of Sei Suka Public Health Center, Batubara Regency. The dominant factor affecting the risk of dengue fever in the working area of Sei Suka Public Health Center, Batubara Regency, is the cues to action factor, with a B value of 1.609 and a p-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Malaria transmission occurs in tropical countries. Malaria cases continue to be a widespread global health issue in nearly all parts of the world. Malaria prevention can be achieved by changing public perceptions about the dangers of malaria infection through behavioral approaches, one of which is the Health Belief Model (HBM). The purpose of this study is to analyze factors associated with malaria prevention actions based on the Health Belief Model in the working area of the Pagurawan Health Center, Medang Deras District, Batubara Regency, in 2025. This research is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional study design. The study was conducted in the working area of the Pagurawan Health Center, Medang Deras District, Batubara Regency, from July 2024 to February 2025. The sample size was 100 respondents, selected through proportional sampling. The results of the study revealed significant relationships with perceived susceptibility (p value 0.000), perceived severity (p value 0.023), perceived benefits (p value 0.002), perceived barriers (p value 0.000), and cues to action (p value 0.000). The most dominant variable was cues to action with an Exp(B) of 14.285.

Abstract

Indonesia sends hundreds of thousands of Hajj pilgrims every year. Many pilgrims depart at an elderly age due to limited quotas and long waiting periods. This situation contributes to the recurrence of health problems among Hajj pilgrims. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with morbidity among Hajj pilgrims from Medan City in 2024. This research employed a descriptive-analytic approach with a cross-sectional study design. The study was conducted at the Health Quarantine Office of North Sumatra Province from August 2024 to February 2025. The results showed significant associations between age (p-value 0.000), medical history (p-value 0.000), istithaah (physical/medical eligibility) status (p-value 0.001), and health risk status (p-value 0.000) with morbidity among Hajj pilgrims in Medan City. The most dominant factor influencing morbidity was high-risk health status, with an Exp(B) value of 19.745 and a p-value of 0.000. It is recommended that the Ministry of Religious Affairs establish a maximum age limit for Hajj registration, taking into account the waiting period until the Hajj is performed, to help ensure pilgrims are not too old to perform the pilgrimage. Additionally, it is advised that the Medan City Port Health Office (BKK) be more proactive and responsive in managing high-risk prospective pilgrims by providing training for healthcare workers.

Abstract

Improving outpatient rehabilitation enhances the lives of those battling substance abuse. This study evaluates its impact at the National Narcotics Agency, North Sumatra. The study aims to assess outpatient rehabilitation's effectiveness on individuals with substance abuse history, focusing on physical health, psychological well-being, social support, and the environment. Using quantitative methodology with pre-post design, the entire patient population (n=54) was included. Research findings reveal significant and positive impacts of the rehabilitation program on physical health, psychological well-being, social support, and patient environmental conditions. Statistical analysis, with a significance level of (p < 0.001), confirms the remarkable success of the intervention, emphasizing the crucial role of the program in enhancing the overall quality of life for patients. This study delves into outpatient rehabilitation program effectiveness, highlighting the need for multidimensional support in the recovery journey.

Abstract

Quality of health services is one approach or effort that is fundamental in providing health services to patients. As a professional person in the field of health services, both individually and in groups, you must always try to provide good quality health services to all patients, Without exception. One of the most essential parts of a hospital is the pharmacy installation. Pharmacy installations are an inseparable part of a complete hospital health service system. The pharmacy installation is responsible for procuring and presenting drug information to all parties in the hospital and developing extensive and well-coordinated pharmaceutical services to meet and provide good service to patients. Servicing old prescriptions to outpatients in the pharmacy installation can cause patient dissatisfaction, impacting the quality of service and hospital. This makes researchers interested in analyzing the waiting time in prescription services for outpatients in the pharmacy installation at RSUD dr. Hadrianus Sinaga Pangururan in 2023. Research Focus on Waiting Times for Prescription Services for Outpatients at the Pharmacy Installation at RSUD dr. Hadrianus Sinaga Pangururan in 2023. The research subfocus is: What is the flow of patient prescription services, what causes the lengthening of waiting times for patient prescription services, and what is the impact of extending waiting times for outpatient prescription services at the pharmacy installation at RSUD Dr. Hadrianus Sinaga Pangururan? Type of Research: This research is survey research using a qualitative approach and an in-depth interview method. Research Location: This research was carried out at RSUD dr. Hadrianus Sinaga Pangururan. Based on the research results on analyzing waiting times for outpatient services at the pharmacy installation at RSU dr. Hadrianus Sinaga In 2023, the results can be taken: The lengthening of waiting times that occurs in Outpatient Pharmacy Installations due to the availability of medicines that often happen in vacancies. The extended waiting time occurs in the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation because writing labels takes a long time. The extended waiting time at the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation is due to taking one month's prescription, which must go through the verification stage. The impact of extending the waiting time in the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation is that patients' dissatisfaction is indicated by protesting and getting angry. The effect of lengthening waiting times in Outpatient Pharmacy Installations due to the unavailability of medicines causes patient management to be hampered.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between the quality of healthcare services and patient satisfaction at the Outpatient Installation of Tarutung Regional General Hospital in 2023. The research employed a cross-sectional design, focusing on five dimensions of service quality: tangible (facilities), reliability, responsiveness, assurance (quality assurance), and empathy. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to 96 outpatients from September 2023 to February 2024. The results indicate excellent overall service quality at the Outpatient Installation of Tarutung Regional General Hospital. However, certain dimensions require improvement, such as responsiveness (10.5% rated as poor), assurance (6.10%), tangible (6.30%), empathy (5.20%), and reliability (9.40%). While 72.9% of patients expressed satisfaction, 27.1% reported dissatisfaction. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between healthcare service quality and patient satisfaction (p < 0.05). These findings underscore the importance of enhancing service quality, particularly in the underperforming dimensions, to improve patient satisfaction. This study provides practical contributions for hospital management in designing strategies to improve the quality of service.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, remains a pressing global health issue, with high incidence and mortality rates. Treatment adherence is a key factor in the success of TB therapy. This study analyzes the factors influencing adherence to TB medication among pulmonary TB patients at UPT Lung Hospital of North Sumatra. The study employed a cross-sectional design with an analytical survey approach. The research sample consisted of 120 pulmonary TB patients undergoing treatment. Data were collected through questionnaires, medical records, and secondary sources and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. The results showed that education level (p-value = 0.03), employment status (p-value = 0.03), knowledge level (p-value = 0.00), and family support (p-value = 0.05) had a significant relationship with adherence to TB medication. Meanwhile, age (p-value = 0.91) and gender (p-value = 0.59) did not show a meaningful relationship. Multivariate analysis identified knowledge and family support as the dominant factors influencing adherence. These findings suggest that education-based interventions and enhanced family support can improve TB treatment adherence. This study recommends developing public health programs to empower patients and their families in TB control efforts.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs and transmitted through airborne droplets. As a global health concern, TB requires long-term treatment adherence to ensure successful outcomes. This study aimed to identify determinants of medication compliance among TB patients at the UPT Garoga Community Health Center, North Tapanuli Regency, in 2023. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 42 patients through interviews and medical records. Variables analyzed included age, gender, education, occupation, knowledge, the role of health workers, and medication supervisors (PMO). Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were conducted to assess relationships between these factors and medication compliance. Results indicated significant associations between compliance and age (p = 0.001), gender (p = 0.006), education (p = 0.001), knowledge (p = 0.002), the role of health workers (p = 0.001), and PMO support (p = 0.002). However, no significant relationship was found between occupation and compliance (p = 0.036). These findings highlight the importance of patient education, health worker involvement, and family support in improving TB treatment adherence. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions to address these determinants and enhance treatment outcomes in TB patients.
