Abstract

Contemporary educational frameworks evolve to prepare learners for real-world challenges, so learners are required to have skills and be able to compete in the 21st century era. Critical thinking skills are high-level thinking skills that are very important for learners to have starting from elementary school, but in fact, critical thinking skills in elementary schools are low. The focus of this research is to describe critical thinking skills through innovation in elementary school science learning. This research uses a literature study research method. Data collection is sourced from relevant articles, journals, and books. Research data analysis through four stages 1) data collection, 2) data reduction, 3) data presentation, and 4) conclusion drawing. The results of this study reveal that learning innovation has an important role because it is able to foster critical thinking skills through HOTS questions, appropriate learning models, and media that can foster critical thinking in students. Some things that need to be considered are the utilization of technology that is developing using technology-based media and the use of HOTS questions and learning models is also considered. So it can be concluded that fostering critical thinking skills through learning innovation can be done through HOTS questions, appropriate learning models, and learning media in elementary school science learning.

Abstract

Science literacy is a critical 21st-century competency; however, Indonesian students continue to perform at a low level, partly due to the lack of contextual learning media that foster scientific thinking. Digital comics are considered a promising alternative. This study aimed to identify the need for developing digital comic-based instructional media to enhance science literacy in primary education. A mixed-methods descriptive design was employed from April to June 2025, involving 23 third-grade students and 2 teachers from an A-accredited elementary school in Kebumen Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis. The results showed that 84% of students and 94% of teachers expressed a high need for digital comic-based learning media. Qualitative data revealed the scarcity of contextual instructional materials and limited student engagement in scientific reasoning. These findings underscore the urgent relevance of developing digital comic media as an effective and contextually appropriate tool to support science literacy. The study recommends integrating digital comics into science instruction to foster student engagement and meaningful learning.Kemampuan literasi sains yang penting di abad ke-21 masih rendah di Indonesia karena kurangnya media pembelajaran kontekstual yang mendukung cara berpikir ilmiah murid, sehingga media komik digital dinilai potensial sebagai solusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan pengembangan media pembelajaran komik digital untuk memperkuat literasi sains di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods yang dilaksanakan pada April–Juni 2025. Sumber data diperoleh dari 23 murid dan 2 guru kelas III di salah satu SD terakreditasi A di Kabupaten Kebumen. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket skala Likert, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan observasi kelas, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis kuantitatif deskriptif dan analisis kualitatif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa 84% murid dan 94% guru merasa sangat membutuhkan pengembangan media pembelajaran komik digital. Temuan kualitatif mengungkapkan masih terbatasnya media pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan minimnya keterlibatan murid dalam proses berpikir ilmiah. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan media komik digital dinilai sangat relevan dan mendesak sebagai solusi pembelajaran kontekstual dan efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi sains. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengembangan komik digital untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan murid dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited availability of contextual and interactive IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) teaching materials that integrate local wisdom and the latest technology in elementary school learning processes. The aim of this research is to analyze the initial needs for developing a digital IPAS teaching material based on local wisdom and enhanced with Augmented Reality to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools. This research employs a descriptive method. The subjects of the study include fifth-grade students, teachers, and the principal of SDN Kaliurip. The object of the research focuses on the need for interactive, contextual, and technology-based learning resources and media. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The analysis results indicate that teachers still heavily rely on government-issued textbooks, which inadequately reflect local values and do not support interactive learning. Meanwhile, students show a high level of interest in digital teaching materials that can be accessed through electronic devices, offering visually engaging content and incorporating local cultural elements. Both teachers and students expressed the need for contextual digital teaching materials that are adaptive to learning characteristics and integrated with Augmented Reality technology to enhance student motivation, engagement, and understanding of the subject matter. The findings of this study serve as a critical foundation for developing digital IPAS teaching materials that support the Merdeka Curriculum while reinforcing students' cultural identity through innovative and meaningful learning.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh terbatasnya bahan ajar IPAS yang bersifat kontekstual, interaktif, serta mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dan teknologi terbaru dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan awal pengembangan bahan ajar digital IPAS berbasis kearifan lokal dilengkapi dengan Augmented Reality untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah guru, siswa kelas V, dan kepala sekolah SDN Kaliurip. Objek penelitian adalah kebutuhan terhadap sumber belajar dan media pembelajaran yang interaktif, kontekstual, dan berbasis teknologi. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa guru masih bergantung pada buku dari pemerintah yang kurang mencerminkan nilai-nilai lokal dan belum mendukung pembelajaran yang interaktif. Sementara itu, siswa menunjukkan ketertarikan tinggi terhadap bahan ajar digital yang dapat diakses melalui perangkat elektronik dan menampilkan visual yang menarik serta konten budaya lokal. Guru dan siswa sama-sama berharap adanya bahan ajar digital yang kontekstual, adaptif terhadap karakteristik belajar, dan dilengkapi teknologi Augmented Reality untuk meningkatkan motivasi, keterlibatan, serta pemahaman siswa terhadap materi. Hasil penelitian ini menjadi dasar penting dalam pengembangan bahan ajar digital IPAS yang mendukung Kurikulum Merdeka dan memperkuat identitas budaya siswa melalui pembelajaran yang inovatif dan bermakna.

Abstract

One of the life skills in 21st century skills is critical thinking and problem solving. For this reason, innovative learning strategies are needed by developing problem-based teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to analyze the need for problem-based Geometry and Social Arithmetic teaching materials to improve the critical thinking skills of PGSD students. This qualitative design study involved 121 PGSD students of FKIP UNS Kebumen Campus in 2025. The instruments used were observation sheets, questionnaires, and document analysis. Data analysis used qualitative data analysis which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the need for Geometry and Social Arithmetic teaching materials included: (a) flat geometry, (b) transformation geometry, (c) spatial geometry, (d) measurement, (e) social arithmetic, (f) mathematical problem solving. The conclusion of this study is that the analysis of teaching material needs is very necessary in the development of problem-based teaching materials. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for developing other types of teaching materials.Salah satu kecakapan hidup pada keterampilan abad 21 adalah critical thinking and problem solving. Untuk itu diperlukan strategi pembelajaran inovatif dengan mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kebutuhan bahan ajar Geometri dan Aritmetika Sosial berbasis masalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa PGSD. Penelitian ini desain kualitatif melibatkan 121 mahasiswa PGSD FKIP UNS Kampus Kebumen tahun 2025.  Instrumen yang digunakanadalah lembar observasi, kuesioner, dan analisis dokumen. Analisis data menggunakan analisis data kualitatif yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan bahan ajar Geometri dan Aritmetika Sosial meliputi: (a) geometri datar, (b) geometri tranformasi, (c) geometri ruang, (d) pengukuran,  (e) aritmetika sosial, (f) pemecahan masalah matematika. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar sangat diperlukan dalam pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis masalah. Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai rekomendai untuk mengembangkan jenis bahan ajar lainnya.

Abstract

Teaching skills are one of the focuses of teacher professional development in order to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. The objectives of this study are: 1) To describe the implementation of the independent curriculum in elementary schools, 2) To describe the efforts of the Teacher Working Group in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, 3) To describe the factors that influence the effectiveness of teacher professional training and development. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The research sample consisted of 59 teachers in elementary schools. Data collection methods were carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity used data triangulation, method triangulation, and theory triangulation. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show: 1) The active involvement of teachers in the Teacher Working Group has a significant impact on improving the understanding of the Independent Curriculum concept and teaching skills in accordance with the curriculum. 2) Training combined with technical guidance and collaborative discussions accelerates teacher competency improvement in implementing the Independent Curriculum. 3) There are challenges related to the limitations of the training methods used, so diversification of training methods is needed to be more interactive and practice-based. These findings confirm that teacher working groups as a forum for developing teacher professionalism can create a positive collaborative atmosphere to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

GPK play a key role in the learning process for inclusive education, but some inclusive schools do not yet meet the need for special education teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of special education teachers on the implementation of inclusive education. This study uses a quantitative correlation method with data collection techniques through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The population of this study consists of special education teachers in inclusive schools across Kebumen Regency, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques employed Pearson's correlation with the assistance of SPSS. The results of the study indicate that the correlation coefficient at a significance level of 0.01 indicates a strong correlation between special education teachers and the implementation of inclusive education. This strong relationship should be considered to ensure that teachers are evenly distributed across all inclusive schools, enabling education for children with special needs to proceed smoothly and equitably. The conclusion of this study is that GPK have a positive influence on the implementation of inclusive education.GPK dalam proses pembelajaran untuk pendidikan inklusif menjadi bagian yang utama tetapi ada beberapa sekolah inklusi yang belum memenuhi kebutuhan akan guru pendamping khusus. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pengaruh guru pendamping khusus terhadap implementasi pendidikan inklusif. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasi dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui angket, observasi, dan wawancara. Populasi dari penelitian ini yaitu guru pendamping khusus di sekolah inklusi se-Kebupaten Kebumen dan sampel diambil menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data menggunakan korelasi pearson dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil korelasi pada signifikasi sebesar 0,01 yang menyatakan bahwa hubungan antara guru pendamping khusus dengan implementasi pendidikan inklusif berkorelasi kuat. Hubungan yang kuat dapat menjadi perhatian untuk meratakan guru di setiap sekolah inklusi sehingga pendidikan bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus dapat berjalan dengan baik dan seimbang. Simpulan penelitian ini yaitu GPK berpengaruh positif terhadap implementasi pendidikan inklusif.

Abstract

Scientific literacy and problem solving are essential 21st-century competencies; however, results from PISA and TIMSS indicate that Indonesian students still perform poorly in these areas. This study aims to describe the profile of elementary school students oriented toward scientific literacy and problem solving, using a mixed methods approach conducted at a public elementary school in Kebumen District from April to June 2025. The participants consisted of fifth-grade students and their teacher. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires using instruments validated by academic supervisors. The research procedure included planning, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and triangulation. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using percentages and means. Results showed that 89% of students and 93% of teachers perceived students' scientific literacy and problem-solving abilities as still low, supported by qualitative findings indicating a lack of student independence in both aspects. Therefore, it is recommended that elementary schools develop integrated and contextual learning programs to enhance these competencies more effectively.Literasi sains dan problem solving merupakan kompetensi penting abad ke-21, namun hasil PISA dan TIMSS menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan murid Indonesia dalam kedua aspek ini masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil murid sekolah dasar yang berorientasi pada literasi sains dan pemecahan masalah, dengan pendekatan kombinasi (mixed methods) di salah satu SD negeri di Kecamatan Kebumen pada April–Juni 2025. Peserta terdiri dari murid dan guru kelas V. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan angket, menggunakan instrumen yang telah divalidasi oleh dosen pembimbing. Prosedur penelitian mencakup perencanaan, pengumpulan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif, serta triangulasi. Analisis data kualitatif dilakukan secara tematik, sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis deskriptif menggunakan persentase dan rerata. Hasil menunjukkan 89% murid dan 93% guru menilai kemampuan literasi sains dan problem solving masih rendah, yang diperkuat oleh temuan kualitatif mengenai kurangnya kemandirian murid dalam kedua aspek tersebut. Oleh karena itu, disarankan sekolah dasar mengembangkan pembelajaran yang terintegrasi dan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut secara optimal.

Abstract

In 21st-century learning, students must have higher-order thinking skills, namely problem-solving competencies. Therefore, a learning approach that can accommodate differences in student characteristics is needed to make the learning process more effective. This study focuses on analyzing the needs of differentiated learning to improve problem-solving competencies in science learning. The research approach uses a qualitative approach. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection methods are interviews and documentation. Participants are second-grade teachers and second-grade students from one of the elementary schools in the Kutowinangun district, totaling 5 out of 16. The selection of participants uses purposive sampling. The research data analysis technique starts from data reduction, data presentation to conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it shows the need for differentiated learning to improve problem-solving competencies in science learning. This is indicated by the diverse levels of readiness, interests, and learning styles of students who require a teaching approach adapted to this diversity. The conclusion of the study is a study of the need for differentiated learning to improve problem-solving in science learning.Pembelajaran abad ke-21, murid harus mempunyai pemikiran tingkat tinggi yaitu kompetensi problem solving. Oleh karena itu, membutuhkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang mampu mengakomodasi perbedaan karakteristik murid agar proses pembelajaran lebih efektif. Penelitian berfokus pada analisis kebutuhan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi problem solving dalam pembelajaran IPA. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengambilan data yaitu wawancara dan dokumentasi. Partisipan adalah guru kelas II dan murid kelas II dari salah satu SDN di kecamatan Kutowinangun berjumlah 5 dari 16. Pemilihan partisipan menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik menganalisis data penelitian yaitu dimulai dari reduksi data, penyajian data hingga kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kebutuhan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi problem solving dalam pembelajaran IPA. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari beragamnya tingkat kesiapan, minat, dan gaya belajar murid yang memerlukan pendekatan pengajaran yang disesuaikan dengan keberagaman. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah studi kebutuhan pembelajaran diferensiasi untuk meningkatkan problem solving dalam pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

There are still many elementary school teachers who are not yet able to develop digital LKPD so that learning is less interesting for students.This community service aims to: (1) improve the skills of elementary school teachers in developing digital differentiated Student Worksheet and (2) improve the critical thinking skills of elementary school students through the development of differentiated Student Worksheets. This community service was carried out at Kebakalan Elementary School, Karanggayam, Kebumen, starting with a needs analysis to obtain information and problems experienced by teachers and students. After an agreement was reached between the teachers, principals and the P2M team, workshops, training, guidance and mentoring were carried out in making differentiated digital Student Worksheets. To determine the development and success of achieving the target of at least 85% of teachers skilled in making differentiated digital Student Worksheets, monitoring and evaluation were carried out. The outputs of this community service consist of mandatory outputs in the form of: community service articles in ISSN journals, community service activity articles in print or online media, and community service activity videos. The additional outputs are in the form of Differentiated Digital Student Worksheets. Masih banyak guru SD yang belum mampu mengembangkan LKPD digital sehingga pembelajaran kurang menarik peserta didik. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) meningkatkan keterampilan guru SD dalam pengembangan LKPD digital berdiferensiasi dan (2) meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik SD melalui pengembangan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berdiferensiasi. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SD Negeri Kebakalan, Karanggayam, Kebumen dengan diawali analisis kebutuhan untuk mendapatkan informasi dan permasalahan yang dialami para guru dan peserta didiknya. Setelah terjadi kesepakatan antara para guru, kepala sekolah dan tim P2M kemudian dilakukan kegiatan workshop, pelatihan, pembimbingan, pendampingan pembuatan LKPD digital berdiferensiasi. Untuk mengetahui perkembangan dan keberhasilan mencapai target  minimal 85 % guru terampil membuat LKPD digital berdiferensiasi, maka dilakukan monitoring dan evaluasi. Luaran pengabdian ini terdiri dari luaran wajib berupa: artikel pengabdian di jurnal ber-ISSN, artikel kegiatan pengabdian di media cetak atau online, dan video kegiatan pengabdian. Adapun luaran tambahan berupa LKPD Digital Berdiferensiasi.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology makes learning readiness a crucial competency for both teachers and students. The readiness of teachers and students in implementing digital literacy encompasses an understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to apply knowledge in solving everyday problems. This research aims to evaluate the readiness of teachers and students to face digital literacy in science education to enhance problem-solving skills. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research design with the participation of elementary school teachers and students. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, involving 23 respondents, combining observation sheets, checklists, and interviews to assess the understanding and ability of teachers and students to effectively utilize technology in the learning process. The results, analyzed through descriptive statistics, indicate that teachers and students have met most of the aspects used in the application of digital literacy. This research concludes that teachers and students are considered ready to implement digital literacy learning to improve problem-solving abilities in science education.Perkembangan teknologi yang pesat menjadikan kesiapan belajar kompetensi penting bagi guru dan siswa, kesiapan guru dan siswa dalam pengimplementasian literasi digital mencakup pemahaman konsep ilmiah dan kemampuan menerapkan pengetahuan dalam memecahkan masalah sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kesiapan guru dan siswa dalam menghadapi literasi digital pada pembelajaran IPA untuk meningkatkan problem solving. Penelitian menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan partisipasi guru dan siswa Sekolah Dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mix method, dengan mengambil 23 responden yang menggabungkan lembar observasi, ceklist dan wawancara untuk menilai pemahaman dan kemampuan guru serta siswa dalam memanfaatkan teknologi secara efektif dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil pengolahan data melalui statistik deskriptif penelitian menunjukkan bahawa guru dan siswa sudah memenuhi sebagain besar aspek yang digunakan dalam penerapan literasi digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa guru dan siswa sudah dikatakan siap dalam menerapkan pembelajaran literasi digital sebagai peningkatan kemampuan problem solving pada pembelajaran IPA.
