Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of communication skills and the project-based learning (PBL) model on the reasoning skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Islam Nurul Huda. This study used a two-group experimental design, with one experimental group using the PjBL model and the other group using traditional techniques. A two-way MANOVA approach was used in analysing the data. The results showed that the PjBL model significantly improved students' abilities in mathematical reasoning and problem solving compared to the traditional approach. The learning model and communication ability interacted to affect reasoning ability, but there was no difference in ability based on students' communication ability level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi awal yang memiliki tujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kelayakan penggunaan Virtual Youtuber (Vtuber) sebagai salah satu pilihan media dalam program pelatihan. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji apakah Vtuber layak dan dapat diterapkan secara efektif dalam pelaksanaan program pelatihan dan penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah media Vtuber mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan serta pemahaman peserta pelatihan. Metode pencarian data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara kepada mahasiswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Vtuber memiliki karakteristik yang unik, menarik, serta inovatif yang dapat memperkaya pengalaman belajar bagi peserta yang mengikuti suatu program pelatihan. Dengan demikian penggunaan karakter Vtuber dalam program pelatihan dapat menjadi salah satu bentuk kreativitas yang menarik dan efektif dalam menyampaikan materi kepada peserta pelatihan, terutama dengan memperhatikan integrasi yang tepat dengan pengajar manusia dan pemilihan karakter yang sesuai.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology has advanced education, including the use of gamification as an innovative learning approach. Gamification integrates game elements to enhance students' interest and motivation and can be applied in various subjects, including Christian Religious Education. However, teaching methods in Christian Religious Education often remain traditional and monotonous. This study aims to encourage teachers to implement gamification in their teaching process. The research uses the Study Literature Review (SLR) method, collecting data from 12 relevant articles obtained through Google Scholar and Publish or Perish (POP). The findings show that gamification creates an engaging, interactive, and dynamic learning environment, improving students' motivation, participation, and learning outcomes across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Technology-based gamification enhances students' understanding based on their learning styles and fosters collaboration. However, its effectiveness depends on careful planning and relevant content selection. Without proper design, gamification may become a challenge rather than a benefit. Platforms like Kahoot have been widely used in education, offering interactive real-time quizzes that boost engagement and cooperation among students. Ultimately, gamification not only increases motivation but also transforms the learning experience into a more interactive and enjoyable process.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to explain the influence of the flipped classroom learning model along with learning styles on students' conceptual understanding. Method: This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a 2x2 factorial pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design involving students from PGRI University Jombang at the undergraduate level.  Results:  The research results reflect that the flipped classroom has a better impact compared to conventional learning. The difference between verbal and visual learning styles is not significant to conceptual understanding. Overall, the use of flipped learning is effective for all types of learning styles in this study in improving conceptual understanding. In practice, the flipped classroom is highly recommended for application in concept comprehension learning with implementation on an LMS and effective discussion features.  Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the integrative flipped learning model combined with learning styles, which has not been extensively studied for enhancing conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study examined how instructional strategy and self-regulated learning (SRL) relate to students’ Arabic reading comprehension. A quasi-experimental 2 × 2 factorial design was used with 120 students enrolled in Arabic courses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. Two intact classes completed autonomous-learning activities, while two other classes followed cooperative-learning activities. Students were grouped into high- and low-SRL categories based on questionnaire scores. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent-samples t-test, and two-way ANOVA. The pre-test results showed no significant difference between the two instructional groups. Post-test results indicated significant effects of learning strategy, SRL level, and their interaction. These findings suggest that the suitability of autonomous and cooperative reading activities may differ according to students’ SRL levels. Because intact classes were used, the results should be interpreted cautiously.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the competence of elementary school teachers in designing and implementing Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Case Method instruction using a deep learning approach. The activity was motivated by the challenges teachers face in adopting the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly the limited conceptual understanding and skills in designing innovative learning experiences. The program was conducted at SDN 03 Mulyorejo, Malang City, involving 20 teachers as participants. The implementation methods included material delivery, hands-on practice, and evaluation using pre- and post-training instruments based on Kirkpatrick’s evaluation framework at the learning level. The results indicated a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding of deep learning concepts and their self-efficacy in designing project- and case-based learning. All participants (100%) reported the ability to adapt deep learning in the context of the Merdeka Curriculum and integrate information technology into the learning process. In addition, the development of a Digital Learning Resource Center served as ongoing support for teachers to independently apply deep learning practices. These outcomes reinforce previous findings that practice-based training, reflection, and technology integration play a crucial role in enhancing teacher professionalism and learning quality. This activity is recommended for replication in other elementary schools to expand the implementation of deep learning as part of the Merdeka Curriculum strategy.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini berfokus pada rendahnya minat siswa di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama di Kota Malang dalam mempelajari sains, terutama kesulitan dalam memahami istilah-istilah ilmiah dalam materi sains yang diberikan. Keterbatasan sumber belajar dan kurangnya perubahan dalam strategi pengajaran diidentifikasi sebagai penyebab rendahnya minat tersebut. Minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran oleh guru yang hanya monoton menggunakan ppt dan buku teks membuat pembelajaran menjadi kurang variatif dan membuat siswa kurang tertarik untuk mengikuti pembelajaran. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi dampak penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis web pada materi perkembangan hewan dan tumbuhan terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas IX. Dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan uji ANOVA, media web yang menyajikan konten melalui video, teks, dan gambar dibandingkan dengan PPT dan buku pelajaran konvensional di dua kelas. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok (F hitung = 7,691, signifikansi = 0,008). Respons positif siswa terhadap media web menegaskan keefektifannya dalam meningkatkan minat dan pemahaman sains Abstract: This research focuses on the low interest of students in one of the junior high schools in Malang City in learning science, especially the difficulty in understanding scientific terms in the given science material. Limited learning resources and lack of change in teaching strategies were identified as the causes of low interest. The lack of use of teaching media by teachers, who only monotonously use PPTs and textbooks, makes learning less varied and makes students less interested in participating in learning. This study evaluates the impact of web-based learning media on animal and plant development material on the learning outcomes of Grade IX students. Using quantitative methods and the ANOVA test, web media presenting content through video, text, and images were compared with PPT and conventional textbooks in two classes. The results of the data analysis showed a significant difference between the two groups (F count = 7.691, significance = 0.008). The students' positive response to the web media confirmed its effectiveness in increasing interest and understanding of science.
