Abstract

The research questions of this research were: 1) whether there was any significant relationship between of motivation toward reading comprehension on SMP Negeri 3 Batuatas; 2) whether there was any significant relationship between of activeness  toward reading comprehension on SMP Negeri 3 Batuatas; and 3) whether there was any significant relationship between of motivation and activeness  toward reading comprehension on SMP Negeri 3 Batuatas. This reserach aimed to determine the relationship between of motivation toward reading comprehension, the relationship between of activeness toward reading comprehension, the relationship between of motivation and activeness toward reading comprehension on SMP Negeri 3 Batuatas. This research used a quantitative approach using the ex-post facto methods. The subject of this research were 30 respondents of the eight grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Batuatas. The data collection instruments used were questionnare and test. Data analysis in this research used data analysis techniques descriptive statistics and inferential  statistics. Based on the results of the reserach, this research had 3 conclusions. First there was no significant relationship of motivation toward reading comprehension. this conclusion  was based on statistical analysis, where the significant value was 0,471. Because the significant value was greater than α (0,05), it meant that the null hypothesis was accepted and the allternative hypothesis was rejected. Second, there was no significant relationship of activeness toward reading comprhension. This conclusion was based on statistical analysis, where the significant value was 0,797. Because the significant value was greater than α (0,05), it meant that the null hypothesis was accepted and the alternative hypothesis was rejected. Third, there was no significant relationship of motivation and activeness toward reading comprehension. this conclusion was based on statistical analysis, where the significant value was 0,733. Because the significant value was greater than α (0,05), it meant that the null hypothesis was accepted and the alternative hypothesis was rejected.

Abstract

Nutritional status is an important indicator that determines the quality of health and development of school-age children. Adequate nutrition supports children's physical growth and cognitive abilities, and contributes to academic achievement. This community service activity aims to analyze the nutritional status of Bustanul Ulum Elementary School students by measuring height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The method used is quantitative descriptive with a sample of 150 students from grades 1 to 6. Measurements were carried out using standard and calibrated measuring instruments, while BMI was calculated using the formula body weight (kg) divided by the square of height (m²). The results showed that 75% of students had normal nutritional status, 10% were underweight and stunted, and 15% were overweight and obese. Factors that influence nutritional status include an unbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, and family socio-economic background. Children from families who have access to healthy food and good nutrition education tend to have better nutritional status. Based on these results, a comprehensive intervention program is needed in the form of nutrition education for students and parents, provision of healthy food at school, and promotion of regular physical activity. Collaboration between schools, health workers, and parents is essential to create an environment that supports optimal and sustainable child growth and development.

Abstract

Brain blood vessels block or rupture in cerebrovascular disease (CVD), limiting oxygen and nutrient delivery to brain tissue. An untreated stroke can cause lasting brain damage, disability, or even death. Common complications include muscle weakness, coordination issues, difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, reduced sensitivity, facial or bodily paralysis, and balance problems. Stroke survivors are advised to engage in physical exercises such as heel raises and sit-to-stand (STS) movements to address balance impairments. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of heel raise and STS exercises on improving balance in post-stroke patients at the Sawah Lebar Public Health Center in Bengkulu Municipality. A quasi-experimental design was employed with 52 participants split evenly into intervention and control groups. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, and balance was measured using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The Mann-Whitney test revealed a significant difference in balance scores between groups (p-value = 0.000, p ≤ 0.05, indicating a positive effect of the intervention). Before intervention, both groups experienced balance impairments, with the intervention group scoring 33.04 (SD 6.095) and the control group 31.54 (SD 4.933). After the intervention, scores improved more notably in the intervention group (scored by 38.04, SD 5.744) compared to the control group (scored by 32.65, SD 5.012), p-value = 0.000 (Mann-Whitney). Intervention increased the average score by +5.00 and control by +1.12. Heel raise and sit-to-stand  (STS) exercises significantly improved balance in post-stroke patients and may serve as effective rehabilitation strategies, although further larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract

Ecocrisis has become a fundamental challenge threatening the sustainability of life on this planet, necessitating the involvement of various sectors, including religious education. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) holds significant potential for fostering strong ecological awareness and ethics. However, PAI faces challenges such as a curriculum not yet deeply integrated with environmental issues and limited resources. This study aims to understand how PAI teachers in Ciamis Regency perceive, integrate, and respond to the environmental crisis in their teaching practices, and their openness to interfaith, interdisciplinary, and “interplanetary” approaches as an expansion of ecological consciousness. This research employs a qualitative design, utilizing in-depth interviews with several PAI teachers. Data was analyzed using thematic coding to identify key patterns and themes. The findings indicate that most teachers possess a good awareness of the environmental crisis and ethically and theologically link it to Islamic teachings. Nevertheless, the implementation of ecopedagogy in PAI classes remains largely incidental due to curriculum limitations and insufficient support. Interestingly, teachers demonstrated considerable openness to interfaith and interdisciplinary approaches for enriching the PAI curriculum, viewing them as means to enhance PAI's relevance. While the “interplanetary” idea remains speculative, glimmers of cosmic awareness are present in their narratives, potentially opening new theological insights. The implications suggest the need for explicit integration of ecological ethics into PAI curriculum and comprehensive teacher training modules, alongside the potential development of PAI based on spiritual-cosmological ecopedagogy.
