Abstract

Nutritional status is an important indicator that determines the quality of health and development of school-age children. Adequate nutrition supports children's physical growth and cognitive abilities, and contributes to academic achievement. This community service activity aims to analyze the nutritional status of Bustanul Ulum Elementary School students by measuring height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The method used is quantitative descriptive with a sample of 150 students from grades 1 to 6. Measurements were carried out using standard and calibrated measuring instruments, while BMI was calculated using the formula body weight (kg) divided by the square of height (m²). The results showed that 75% of students had normal nutritional status, 10% were underweight and stunted, and 15% were overweight and obese. Factors that influence nutritional status include an unbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, and family socio-economic background. Children from families who have access to healthy food and good nutrition education tend to have better nutritional status. Based on these results, a comprehensive intervention program is needed in the form of nutrition education for students and parents, provision of healthy food at school, and promotion of regular physical activity. Collaboration between schools, health workers, and parents is essential to create an environment that supports optimal and sustainable child growth and development.

Abstract

Brain blood vessels block or rupture in cerebrovascular disease (CVD), limiting oxygen and nutrient delivery to brain tissue. An untreated stroke can cause lasting brain damage, disability, or even death. Common complications include muscle weakness, coordination issues, difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, reduced sensitivity, facial or bodily paralysis, and balance problems. Stroke survivors are advised to engage in physical exercises such as heel raises and sit-to-stand (STS) movements to address balance impairments. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of heel raise and STS exercises on improving balance in post-stroke patients at the Sawah Lebar Public Health Center in Bengkulu Municipality. A quasi-experimental design was employed with 52 participants split evenly into intervention and control groups. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, and balance was measured using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The Mann-Whitney test revealed a significant difference in balance scores between groups (p-value = 0.000, p ≤ 0.05, indicating a positive effect of the intervention). Before intervention, both groups experienced balance impairments, with the intervention group scoring 33.04 (SD 6.095) and the control group 31.54 (SD 4.933). After the intervention, scores improved more notably in the intervention group (scored by 38.04, SD 5.744) compared to the control group (scored by 32.65, SD 5.012), p-value = 0.000 (Mann-Whitney). Intervention increased the average score by +5.00 and control by +1.12. Heel raise and sit-to-stand  (STS) exercises significantly improved balance in post-stroke patients and may serve as effective rehabilitation strategies, although further larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract

Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction due to dysregulation of the body's immune response to infection. The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score (SOFA score) is a diagnostic tool used to quantitatively and objectively assess the level of organ dysfunction. Sepsis as a stressor of systemic inflammation, causes an increase in cortisol secretion by the adrenals to target tissues, which suppresses inflammation. Objective: To determine the correlation between SOFA score and blood cortisol levels in sepsis patients at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Method: Observational analytic study with a cross-sectional method. The sample consisted of 55 patients who had been diagnosed with sepsis. The data used was secondary data from medical records. The data were tested using the Spearman correlation test. Result: A correlation was found between the SOFA score and blood cortisol levels, yielding a correlation coefficient of r = 0.338 and a p-value of 0.012. Conclusion: There is a significant moderate correlation between SOFA scores and blood cortisol levels. Keywords:  blood cortisol, sepsis, SOFA score

Abstract

This article investigates emerging patterns of religious literacy and Islamic identity formation among university students in Indonesia, particularly within public and Islamic higher education institutions. Through mixed-methods research involving surveys, focus group discussions, and document analysis, the study identifies a significant shift in students’ modes of engaging with Islamic knowledge—from conventional textual study to digital platforms such as social media, online preachers, and algorithm-driven content. The findings reveal variations in students’ interpretive frameworks, ranging from textual-literal to contextual-progressive orientations, influenced by digital ecosystems and campus environments. While online access has democratized religious learning, it has also created fragmented understanding and susceptibility to polarized discourses. The study argues that universities must redesign Islamic education programs to strengthen critical digital literacy, foster dialogical engagement, and cultivate balanced Islamic worldviews. By analyzing how young Indonesians negotiate personal faith, social identity, and mediated religious authorities, this research offers insights into the dynamic landscape of contemporary Islamic religiosity in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This study employs an integrated data analytics approach to examine student perceptions of learning quality at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), IAIN Lhokseumawe. The analytical framework combines descriptive statistics, K-Means clustering, and multiple linear regression to provide a comprehensive evaluation of instructional quality. Data were collected from 805 active undergraduate students using a structured questionnaire measuring nine learning quality indicators related to instructional delivery, lecturer competence, communication, assessment practices, and institutional compliance. The findings indicate that students generally perceive the quality of learning positively, with an overall mean score of 4.32 on a five-point Likert scale. Lecturer’s Mastery of Material and Accuracy in Answering Questions emerged as the highest-rated indicators, while Material Suitability with the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) and Transparency of Assessment Criteria received comparatively lower scores. Regression results show that instructional quality indicators significantly influence overall student satisfaction, with assessment transparency as the strongest predictor and material suitability with the RPS as the weakest.  These results highlight the importance of transparent assessment practices and consistent alignment between instructional materials and the RPS in shaping students’ learning experiences, enhancing student trust, reducing uncertainty, and sustaining educational quality in Islamic higher education.
