Abstract

Tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This bacterium primarily affects the lungs, but it can also spread to other organs. One of the most commonly found forms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis is Tuberculous Lymphadenitis, which is a TB infection that affects the lymph nodes, especially in the cervical (neck) region. There are many factors that can contribute to the development of this disease. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the occurrence of Tuberculous Lymphadenitis at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Central General Hospital in Makassar during the period of 2021 to 2023. This quantitative research uses a cross-sectional approach to determine the risk factors—age, gender, nutritional status, history of tuberculosis, history of contact, diabetes mellitus, HIV status, immunization status, and hypertension—associated with the occurrence of Tuberculous Lymphadenitis. Data collection began with identifying TB cases, followed by tracing the associated risk factors that may lead to Tuberculous Lymphadenitis. The study population included all patients diagnosed with Tuberculous Lymphadenitis at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Central General Hospital from January to December in the years 2021–2023. The sampling technique used was quota sampling, a non-probability method based on non-random selection of a specific number or proportion of participants. A total of 422 samples that met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. The results showed that age, gender, nutritional status, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and BCG immunization had a significant relationship with the incidence of Tuberculous Lymphadenitis. In contrast, history of tuberculosis, HIV status, and history of contact did not show a significant association with the disease.

Abstract

Remote sensing technology has become crucial in vegetation monitoring, particularly for assessing vegetation density. Despite its broad application, its use in evaluating land rehabilitation efforts remains limited. The increasing extent of degraded lands has underscored the importance of effective forest and land rehabilitation activities. Traditionally, evaluating these efforts involves direct site visits to monitor plant growth annually for three years post-planting, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly. According to rehabilitation standards, a program is successful if 75% of the planted vegetation survives until the end of the third year. This study presents an efficient alternative by evaluating a rehabilitation site in Maros Regency, using remote sensing technology to monitor planting success over periods of 15 years (2007), nine years (2013), and three years (2019). The evaluation utilizes multispectral drone imagery and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) analysis to assess vegetation density through multi-temporal analysis across wide areas. The findings reveal that the percentage of forested areas after three, nine, and fifteen years of rehabilitation activities was 24.6%, 3.1%, and 23.5%, respectively. This research demonstrates the potential for further application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle imagery in monitoring the success of land rehabilitation projects.

Abstract

Background: Tuak is a traditional drink found in Labissa Village, Ajangale District, Bone Regency. The process of taking tuak is called massari, the local wisdom of Labissa Village. The current independent Curriculum has the main characteristics of project-based learning: developing soft skills and student character, including integrating local wisdom in learning. This shows the need to explore local wisdom to be integrated into learning resources. Methods: This research aims to examine and analyze the process of making tuak, which will be incorporated as a biological supplement and is a type of ethnoscience research. The data source for this research used a purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and literature study. Using two types of data: primary data and secondary data. Miles and Huberman's analysis techniques include data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity test used is triangulation. Results: The research shows that making tuak (massari) can be integrated into biological materials. Conclusions: Making tuak (massari) in Labissa Village can supplement biological material, biodiversity, and biotechnology.

Abstract

Abstract

Public management is an effort to deliver public services, programmes, and projects that are efficient, effective, and equitable for the community. The planning and decision-making processes of public management are two key aspects in achieving this goal. Traditionally, the planning and decision-making processes of public management are mostly carried out by government officials and internal stakeholders without involving active participation from the community. However, in this increasingly complex and diverse era, community involvement is important and cannot be ignored. This research aims to explore the role of the community in public decision-making and its impact on efficiency, effectiveness and fairness in public service delivery. This research is a literature review that adopts a qualitative method approach, which means it will analyse and interpret data by relying on information and text from various sources. The study results show that community involvement in the planning and decision-making process of public management is a key principle in democratic and participation-based governance. Community participation helps to create a government that is more transparent, accountable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
