Abstract

This study investigates how do urbanization, urban agglomeration, and largest city ratio affect CO2 emissions in 10 Asian Economies namely Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam over the period 1990- 2020. Based on STIRPAT (Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology) framework, we applied dynamic seemingly unrelated regression (DSUR) to establish long-run term effects. The empirical findings revealed that urbanization and urban agglomeration have inverted U shaped effect, meanwhile largest city ratio have U shaped. Urbanization and urban agglomeration improve environment quality in the long term and supports ecological modernization theory. Urbanization and urban agglomeration improves environmental quality after reaching a significant level of urban development due to efficient energy structures, population awareness, environmentally friendly technologies, and strict urban and environmental policies. However, the finding of largest city ratio revealed U shaped. This result rejects compact city theory. It implies that excessive concentration in the largest cities have severely affected the environmental quality and violates the notion of compact-city efficiencies which could be attributed to extreme population density, overcrowding, traffic congestion and extensive demand for energy consumption. The results of the panel granger causality approach unveil bidirectional causality in urban agglomeration and its quadaratic term of urban agglomeration, largest city ratio, and quadaratic term of largest city ratio on CO2 emissions. Bidirectional causality also found in GDP and CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, unidirectional causality found in energy intensity and CO2 emissions, trade openness and CO2 emissions, financial development and CO2 emissions, as well as urbanization and CO2 emissions. The current study has implications for policymakers and respective governments to green urban infrastructures, eco-friendly dwellings, smart cities, country-specific trade policies, and renewable energy options and to adhere more stringent urban planning to improve the environmental quality.

Abstract

This research aims to measure and compare the moral hazard behaviour of micro and small enterprises’ debtors within Purwokerto area on Productive Business Loan scheme. This scheme was choosen because of the highest Non Performing Loan (NPL) among others. The data were collected from 127 debitors by using simple random sampling technique. Rating scale method was used to measure the moral hazard behaviours of debtors through questionnaire and later comparing them to study how serious the noncompliance rate in repaying off their credits. This research finds that (1) Generally, the moral hazard behaviour tends to be medium-to-high, (2) The highest moral hazard should be attributed to debitors in Purbalingga followed by those in Banjarnegara, Purwokerto, and Cilacap. Then, it suggests that (1) all bank branches need to pay more attentions to their debitors because their moral hazard behaviours have been medium-to-high. (2) Each branch needs to apply specific treatments to the debitors to improve debitors’ installments, i.e building lending relationship as one way of exploring soft information which emphasizes informal approaches, (3) It should be important to design integrated training and practices for bank officers in order to build up their sense of psychological skills in public relationship in order to handle, in turn, those risky debtors.

Abstract

Abstract

The provision of legal aid represents the state’s responsibility to ensure access to justice and legal protection, particularly for impoverished and vulnerable groups. Within the framework of regional governance, this responsibility is carried out by local governments through regional apparatuses with authority in legal affairs, including the Legal Bureau of Central Java Province. This article examines the position and authority of the Central Java Provincial Legal Bureau in the administration of legal aid and analyzes the urgency of its dual role as both facilitator and regulator. This study aims to analyze the legal basis of such authority and the implications of the dual role in the implementation of regional legal aid. The research employs a normative juridical method using statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that the Legal Bureau of Central Java Province possesses administrative authority derived from the delegation of authority by the governor, enabling it to perform both facilitative and regulatory functions in legal aid administration. However, the absence of explicit regulatory boundaries between these roles potentially leads to overlapping authority. Nevertheless, as long as these roles are exercised in accordance with their legal basis and the principles of good governance, the dual role may function as an effective administrative instrument to ensure the effective delivery of legal aid and the protection of citizens’ rights. Keywords : legal aid, authority, dual role.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic requires thesis guidance activities to be carried out online. If the tertiary institution does not have a proper thesis monitoring system, the guidance process will not run smoothly and on time. This study aims to create a thesis monitoring system using Progressive Web Application (PWA) technology with a software development method using mobile-D. The development stage begins with the construction of a system architecture in the form of use cases and activity diagrams. Then the initialize stage is translating the system architecture design into an application interface design. Next is the stage of translating the design into an actual application using lumens and mariaDB on the server side and javascript and indexedDB on the client side. After each module is completed, the system functionality modules are integrated into a whole application into a thesis monitoring system. Then the software functionality testing is carried out, especially when it is run on a smartphone. The test results indicate that there are no bugs or errors found when running on laptop or mobile devices

Abstract

Purpose. The agricultural industry significantly contributes to poverty alleviation, particularly in rural regions as opposed to metropolitan ones. Hence, government programs should be able to target the areas afflicted by poverty effectively. Rural regions serve as the hub of commercial operations and play a crucial role in safeguarding and empowering farmers, particularly those who are small-scale. Methodology / approach. This research aims to analyze the access to assistance and agricultural estimates by examining farmers' prescriptions using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. Results. The objective is to determine if there is an impact on the growth in farm family welfare in the City of Palopo based on data from 105 farmers. This study utilises a descriptive and explanatory methodology, including quantitative techniques and inferential statistical analysis via Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) utilising Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicated that (X1) assistance had a very significant positive impact of 98.26% on the well-being of (Y) farmers' families. However, (X2) did not have a significant beneficial influence on (Y). Originality / scientific novelty. It was found that the access of farmer group households to agricultural assistance and the sustainable use of budgets and their very effective distribution in general can be said to greatly improve the welfare of farmer group households. This research is topically broader in scope making it very specific based on the scope of sources in Palopo, Indonesia. As far as is known, these results have not been previously reported. Practical value / implications. Management in the distribution of aid and access to agricultural budgets which are very vulnerable to misappropriation by the state apparatus has been identified as not improving the welfare of farmer households. One very effective way is to increase inherent surveillance.
