Abstract

This study explores the comparative implementation of honesty character education in elementary schools across four countries: Indonesia, New Zealand, Finland, and Japan. Honesty, as a core moral value, is widely acknowledged, yet its pedagogical realization varies across educational systems. Using a qualitative comparative literature review approach, this research examines how honesty is defined, integratd into curricula, delivered through pedagogical strategies, and supported by sociocultural contexts. The analysis reveals that Finland and Japan demonstrate systemic coherence in cultivating honesty-Finland through a trust-based and student-centered approach, and Japan through formal moral education (doutoku) and cultural internalization of makoto. New Zealand promotes honesty through democratic classroom practices and formative assessment. Indonesia, while normatively embracing honesty through curriculum policy, often lacks consistency in classroom implementation and parental collaboration. Findings also highlight the critical role of teacher modeling, student agency, and family-school alignment in reinforcing honest behavior. The study recommends that Indonesia enhance its honesty education through explicit curricular design, pedagogical training for value-based teaching, and increased family engagement. By adopting adaptable practices from global exemplars, Indonesia can strengthen its efforts in developing integrity-driven students equipped for ethical citizenship. This study contributes to the discourse on character education by offering practical insights grounded in cross-cultural comparison.

Abstract

Background:This study aims to describe studies related to how ICT is utilized and the obstacles to the utilization of ICT in 21st century learning in elementary schools. Method:This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and a type of library research or (literature review). The data analysis technique used is content analysis. The validity of the data used is the persistence of observation and triangulation of sources. Result:The results of the study showed that some teachers have used learning media, both ICT and NON-ICT, to support learning, some class teachers do not use learning media for reasons of limited costs and inefficiency in making media, as well as inadequate ICT skills of teachers, hindering communication between teachers and students or even between students, the possibility of misuse of the use of ICT media in the field of education. In the use of computer media, there are obstacles and constraints such as application errors when used, and technical symptoms of electricity such as power outages. Communication that occurs in learning is still less effective, because in some classes there are still students who are embarrassed to ask, or no one asks questions, so the teacher assumes that students already understand the material that has been delivered. Implication:This study is the importance of improving teacher competence in utilizing ICT optimally to support 21st century learning in elementary schools. The results of this study indicate that although the use of ICT can improve the quality of learning, there are various obstacles, such as limited facilities and lack of teacher ability to integrate technology effectively. Novelty:This research is based on an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced in implementing ICT in primary schools, especially in rural areas, which provides new insights for the development of more targeted policies and training.

Abstract

This research examines halal medicine in Indonesia from the perspectives of Sharia disputes and state law. This research method has involved qualitative, legal analysis, and field observation. The multidisciplinary approach and triangulation of methods have provided in-depth and valid insights into the complex issue of halal medicine, encompassing Sharia disputes and state law. This research’s findings suggest that research on halal medicine in Indonesia is urgent, considering the issue’s importance from a religious, legal, economic, and public health perspective. In-depth and comprehensive research can help resolve disputes between Sharia principles and state law, increase consumer awareness and trust, and encourage the development of a competitive and innovative pharmaceutical industry. This research concludes an urgent need to bridge the gap between Sharia principles and state law in Indonesia’s halal medicine. Synchronization of state law and Sharia principles in halal pharmaceutical practices in Indonesia is achieved through regulations such as Law No. 33/2014 on Halal Product Guarantee, certification by BPJPH and MUI, public education, and industry innovation, ensuring Sharia compliance without compromising public health. Indonesia can strengthen its position as a leader in the halal pharmaceutical industry while ensuring that public health interests and Sharia compliance can coexist with a more integrated approach, more effective regulations, and increased public awareness.

Abstract

The impact of quality education on poverty reduction is a critical area of study, particularly when examined across different economic contexts. This research investigates how quality education influences poverty reduction in low-income and high-income countries, focusing on the moderating effect of financial context. A comparative cross-sectional research design was employed, utilizing secondary data from thirty countries—fifteen low-income and fifteen high-income—sourced from reputable databases such as the World Bank, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were conducted to analyze the relationship between educational quality and poverty reduction. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between literacy rates and poverty reduction, mainly in high-income countries (r = 0.76, p < 0.01). Regression analysis further supports that the impact of education on poverty is more substantial in high-income contexts, with a notable interaction effect between education and economic context (β = 0.36, p < 0.01). These results suggest that while education is vital for poverty alleviation, its effectiveness varies depending on the economic environment. The study concludes that tailored educational policies are necessary to enhance the poverty-reducing potential of education in low-income countries, highlighting the need for global educational reforms to address these disparities.
