Abstract

Stunting adalah masalah gagal tumbuh pada bayi akibat kurang nutrisi kronis selama 1.000 hari pertama kehidupan yang menghambat pertumbuhan linier pada anak balita dan mempengaruhi kemampuan kognitif mereka. Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) dapat menjadi solusi untuk menangani stunting pada balita, terutama makanan keluarga berbasis bahan pangan lokal. Namun, seringkali PMT pada bayi/balita kurang diperhatikan terutama dalam hal kepadatan zat gizinya. Prevalensi anak stunting di Desa Tetaf, Kabupaten TTS cukup tinggi. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan upaya untuk meningkatkan penanganan stunting melalui pelatihan pengolahan pangan lokal bagi ibu anak PAUD dalam pengolahan sayuran menjadi stik. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa KKNT Institut Pendidikan Soe bekerja sama dengan Puskesmas kecamatan Kuatnana Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta dalam pembuatan stik sayur sebagai makanan pendamping ASI dan PMT yang sehat dan bergizi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini dapat membantu mencegah stunting pada anak-anak dan memberikan manfaat bagi ibu siswa PAUD dalam mempersiapkan makanan tambahan lokal yang seimbang dan bergizi untuk anak-anak mereka. Kegiatan ini berdampak positif bagi masyarakat setempat dan memberikan kontribusi bagi penanganan stunting pada anak-anak di  Desa Tetaf.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the efficacy of using problem solving approach in teaching speaking especially describing to Indonesian English as Foreign Language (EFL) students. The main question of this research: Is the use of problem-solving approach effective in teaching conditional sentences to Indonesian EFL students?  The research can be an addition to the persisting teaching speaking in English through the use of problem solving approach.  This research was conducted at First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang.  The population of this research was First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. The number population is 160 in four classes. The research used a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design. The pre-test was given to find out the basic ability of the students in mastering speaking and the post-test given to find out the students’ improvement in mastering speaking after giving the treatment by using problem solving approach. The findings show that using problem solving is effective in teaching speaking to Indonesian EFL students.  It is supported by the result of the significance test through SPSS 20 program that the P was 0.00.  Therefore, it is recommended to use problem solving approach in developing students’ speaking of Indonesian EFL students.

Abstract

In this digital era, lecturers are expected to have digital-based skills that support learning activities in the classroom. Therefore, to organize cooperation as well as implement digital-based learning, Community Service activities were held for lecturers at the Sinar Pancasila Betun (STKIP) - Malaka Regency. Based on the analysis of the situation, several things that are considered priority issues that must be resolved include: (1) Alignment and integration of the Tridharma. (2) Integrating the preparation of digital-based Lesson Plans (RPS) with research and community service. (3) Implementing service into community service and vice versa. The solution provided is expected to produce the following results: In the first session, the team approached the lecturers regarding the need in teaching learning in the classroom. According to the results of the discussion is how to integrate the results of academic research with community service. Activities in the second session include lectures and discussions. While in the third session, the mentoring process is aimed at producing digital-based scientific work products.

Abstract

Realizing the importance of English in this modern era, the community service team has developed a learning program in a practical and interesting way that in learning English. Working with religious institutions was one of the methods to support government programs. The program was held in Letbaun Village, Semau District in Kupang Regency. The problem for most Sunday school children in this area was their lack of interest in learning English and limited access to telecommunication networks, so they were more guided by manual learning resources or textbooks. The underlying thing was the lack of vocabulary and grammar in English. The team conducted practical, creative, and fun English learning materials and videos to attract interest in learning English. The book was equipped with pictures and vocabulary relating to general English materials such as greetings, self-introduction, parts of the body, and names of days and months, also provided some Bible-themed materials (God’s creation, the ten plagues in Egypt, the Lord's Prayer in English, the name of the books in English). The book was provided with the aims, directions for Sunday School Teachers, and exercises. There were still several things that have not been achieved such as evaluation of learning outcomes. Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa KKNT Institut Pendidikan Soe bekerja sama dengan Puskesmas kecamatan Kuatnana Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta dalam pembuatan stik sayur sebagai makanan pendamping ASI dan PMT yang sehat dan bergizi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini dapat membantu mencegah stunting pada anak-anak dan memberikan manfaat bagi ibu siswa PAUD dalam mempersiapkan makanan tambahan lokal yang seimbang dan bergizi untuk anak-anak mereka. Kegiatan ini berdampak positif bagi masyarakat setempat dan memberikan kontribusi bagi penanganan stunting pada anak-anak di  Desa Tetaf.

Abstract

This paper aims at describing the etymological meanings of places inside Soe as well as the morphological processes in forming place names in Soe. This research is a part of the writers’ concern about the decline of local people’s knowledge about their surroundings. There are 21 places’ names under investigation although it is also acknowledged that there are some other places’ names that we have not covered them yet. Result shows that the places’ names are taken from Uab Meto language. Those names are originated either from typical geographical situations of those places or historical events. In particular, the majority of the places’ names refer to springs or water sources to represent survivability of the people as shown 8 places’ names. Moreover, there are two morphological processes involved in those places’ names. They are compounding and affixation. In fact, 19 of the 21 places’ names can be morphologically grouped into endocentric compounds and the other two places’ names belong to affixation process. Realising that this kind of knowledge is something local people in Soe have paid less attention to, it is strongly suggested that this knowledge should be strengthened by imposing it in Soe local curriculum, i.e, local content.

Abstract

The main question of this research: Is the use of Round Table technique effective in teaching conditional sentences to Indonesian EFL students?.  The research can be an addition to the persisting teaching writing in English particularly the descriptive text through the use of Round Table technique.   This research was conducted at First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang.  The population of this research was First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang.   The research used a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design. The pre-test was given to find out the basic ability of the students in mastering writing descriptive text and the post-test given to find out the students’ improvement in mastering writing descriptive text after giving the treatment by using round table technique. Abstract

Learning motivation is one of the determining factors in achieving learning objectives. From learning motivation, students have a desire to take part in continuous learning. Therefore, a teacher must be able to increase student motivation in learning and there are many ways that teachers can use in increasing student learning motivation and one way to increase student motivation is by using media that is fun and easy for students to use. Quizizz is a learning application used by First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. . So, researchers conducted research on student perceptions of using the Quizizz application. The data collection techniques used by researchers are questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the perceptions of students in First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. are motivated by the application of learning using the quizizz application. The quizizz application makes students happy to use it and find it easy to use.

Abstract

Masyarakat Nusa Tenggara Timur hampir setiap tahun mengalami kekurangan air bahkan sampai kekeringan akibat musim kemarau yang panjang. Hal tersebut mempengaruhi persediaan air irigasi bagi masyarakat NTT yang sebagian besar berprofesi sebagai petani dan juga mempengaruhi persediaan air baku. Waduk Raknamo memiliki tampungan efektif air sebanyak 10,26 juta m3 dimanfaatkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air baku dengan kapasitas layanan 100 liter per detik, kebutuhan air irigasi seluas 1.250 Ha dan juga sebagai pembangkit listrik tenaga mikro hidro (PLTMH) dengan kapasitas 0,22 MW. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan simulasi pola operasi waduk sesuai dengan ketersediaan air yang ada. Simulasi pola operasi ini dilakukan menggunakan debit andalan 50% dan 80% untuk kebutuhan air irigasi, dan debit andalan 90% dan 95% untuk kebutuhan air baku minum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan debit inflow setengah bulanan yang terjadi di waduk Raknamo rata-rata sebesar 1,33 m 3/dtk, dengan debit terbesar terjadi pada bulan febuari yakni 3,10 m 3/dtk dan debit terkecil pada bulan oktober yakni 0,19 m 3/dtk. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan simulasi pola operasi waduk maka Waduk Raknamo menggunakan pola simulasi waduk multi guna (Multi Purpose Dams) dengan berapa kebutuhan yaitu untuk air irigasi, air baku, dan PLTMH. Luas lahan pertanian yang dapat diairi pada debit andalan pada tahun normal 50% adalah sebesar 848,90 Ha untuk musim tanam pertama, 224,30 Ha untuk musim tanam kedua dan 232,60 Ha untuk musim tanam ketiga. Untuk debit andalan pada tahun kering 80% luas lahan pertanian yang dapat diairi adalah sebesar 237,10 Ha untuk musim tanam pertama, 52,60 Ha untuk musim tanam kedua dan ketiga. Kebutuhan air baku untuk perhitungan debit andalan 90% mendapatkan 0,18 m 3/dtk dan 95% sebesar 0,13 m 3/dtk.
