Abstract

This study investigates the role of school principals as change leaders in implementing the Independent Curriculum in Indonesia. It explores their strategies, innovative practices, and the factors contributing to both the successes and challenges of curriculum application. The findings reveal that principals are instrumental in driving curriculum reform by engaging in academic supervision, cultivating collaborative school environments, and promoting student-centered learning approaches. Key strategies identified include organizing professional development initiatives, fostering stakeholder partnerships, and efficiently managing resources to align teaching methodologies with the curriculum’s objectives. Innovative practices, such as establishing professional learning communities and introducing project-based learning activities, further facilitate the curriculum's adoption. The study identifies several factors that support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, including active teacher involvement, government-sponsored training programs, and curriculum designs tailored to local contexts. The study highlights the critical need for continuous professional development, comprehensive strategic planning, and consistent policy support to overcome these obstacles. Effective leadership by school principals is essential for fostering a positive school culture and encouraging collaboration among stakeholders, thereby enabling systemic transformation.

Abstract

Planning is a critical process in establishing organizational goals, strategies, programs, and activities to achieve desired results effectively and efficiently. Through planning, educational goals can be determined, including financing that involves various parties such as the central, regional, and community governments. The planning process also includes the allocation of required resources, to improve the quality of education through funds such as the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS) Program, and Educational Operational Assistance (BOP). Education costs include direct costs related to educational activities and indirect costs that support the educational environment. Financing standards are set to meet the minimum educational operational needs for one year, with components such as investment, and operational and personal costs. This research uses a library study method to collect and analyze data from secondary sources. The research results show that financing is a vital aspect of education management, involving funding from various sources to ensure the continuity and improvement of the quality of education. Efficient budget allocation can increase the effectiveness of the education system by maximizing the use of resources. Government regulations stipulate levies and donations to support basic education costs, ensuring the involvement of various parties in sustainable education financing.

Abstract

The study aims to offer actionable insights to improve student enrollment rates and enhance recruitment strategies. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and a SWOT analysis framework, the study explores both internal and external factors influencing the New Student Admissions (NSA). Key findings reveal that the school implements NSA through structured planning, which includes evaluating capacity and class size, setting transparent admission criteria, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The admission process comprises three main stages: registration, announcement of accepted students, and re-registration. The school leverages its strengths, such as a strong reputation, strategic location, and competent educators, while addressing weaknesses like limited promotion and outdated enrollment systems. Opportunities, including population growth and government support, are strategically utilized, while threats like competition from neighboring schools and zoning policies are mitigated. The study concludes that a well-structured NSA process, combined with insights from SWOT analysis, enhances the school’s ability to attract and retain students. Recommendations focus on improving promotional outreach, investing in technological upgrades, and fostering community engagement to ensure equitable and quality education.

Abstract

Abstract

Science studies nature systematically through observation and experimentation to understand the causal relationships of natural events. Science learning not only focuses on the mastery of knowledge but also on the process of discovery, skills development, and scientific attitudes. The main challenge in science learning in Indonesia is the disparity of educational facilities between schools causing a gap in the quality of education, low science literacy of students and misconceptions. Science learning in Finland, known for its phenomenon-based and student-centered approach, offers a potential solution. The Finnish education system emphasizes interdisciplinary understanding and real-world relevance, which can be applied in Indonesia to improve the quality of science learning. This research is a literature study that identifies, evaluates and analyzes articles related to science learning in Indonesia and Finland. Results show that the adoption of Finnish methods can improve science learning in Indonesia by emphasizing hands-on experience and active student interaction. The Finnish government also supports science learning from an early age to develop children's potential. This study suggests improving education facilities and adopting best practices from Finland to improve the science education system in Indonesia.
