Abstract

This study aimed to examine the distribution of the golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) and its ecological associations during the rice harvest stage (Oryza sativa L.) in Sumberaji Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency. Fieldwork was conducted from May to June 2025 using a descriptive quantitative design. Data were collected through purposive sampling across four observation plots, each measuring one square meter. Statistical analysis included Pearson correlation to assess the relationship between environmental variables and snail abundance, while the distribution patterns of temperature and pH were evaluated using the Chi-Square Goodness of Fit test. A total of fourteen individuals were recorded across all plots, resulting in an average density of 0.875 individuals per square meter. The highest abundance was observed in the second plot, where water temperature and pH were within the optimal ecological range. The lowest abundance occurred in the fourth plot, with only one individual recorded. Correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between environmental factors and snail abundance (r = –0.28 for temperature; r = –0.31 for pH; p > 0.05). The Chi-Square test results indicated that the distribution of temperature (χ² = 0.097; p > 0.05) and pH (χ² = 0.065; p > 0.05) did not differ significantly from an even distribution pattern. These findings indicate that temperature and pH conditions at the study site were relatively homogeneous across plots and did not represent dominant determinants of golden apple snail distribution. Other ecological variables, including food availability, vegetation structure, and biotic interactions, are likely to exert a stronger influence on population variability.

Abstract

Determination of phosphate levels can be done using the potentiometric method with cobalt material-based electrodes with various techniques and compositions. This study uses copper metal as a supporting material. Surface coating of copper was carried out using solution of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulphate in various concentrations by applying voltammetric electrodeposition technique. The electrodes produced for each concentration of cobalt source were examined for the peak-reducing current. The potentiometric response was characterized using a standard phosphate solution, and the morphology using SEM. The best electrodes were used for soil phosphate analysis, and the results were compared with spectrometric methods. The results showed that the optimum concentration of cobalt source solution was characterized by the highest reduction peak of cobalt, namely at a concentration of 0.1 M. Electrodes made with chloride solution produced a higher peak of reduction current, had a sensitivity of -16.21 mV/decade which higher than that of electrodes from sulphate solution, namely -14.59 mV/decade in the phosphate concentration range of 0.001-1000 ppm. The morphology of the two types of electrodes also show differences, the electrode made of chloride material has a surface morphological structure that looks uneven and pretty rough, and there are oval grains that form like crystals and have a uniform shape. In contrast, the electrode made of sulphate material looks flatter and smooth and forms lumps. The results of the analysis of phosphate levels in the soil samples using the electrode are similar to the results of the analysis of the spectrophotometric method

Abstract

This study aims to determine the symbolic meaning of cultural communication in the Kaombo Tei tradition practiced by the community of Wajogu Village, Lakudo District, Central Buton Regency. The Kaombo Tei tradition is a community-based local mechanism for managing water resources through a traditional institution. This research employs a qualitative method to understand the phenomenon from the participants’ perspective, as well as its social and institutional context. The findings show that Kaombo Tei involves several traditional rituals such as hair cutting (alano wulu focu), sea bathing, and the use of eggs as symbols of physical and spiritual purification. This tradition functions to maintain the sustainability of marine resources through an open and closed water system governed by customary rules that prohibit fishing activities during certain periods. The ritual is believed to carry spiritual and social consequences, thereby strengthening community compliance with these customary regulations. The symbolic meanings embedded in this tradition include cleansing oneself from negative elements through the egg symbol, relieving anxiety through hair-cutting rituals, and protection from harm through sea bathing. The Kaombo Tei tradition is conducted twice a year, following seasonal changes, and has been shown to have positive impacts on the preservation of aquatic environments and the balance of the local ecosystem.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven personalization in e-commerce has introduced algorithm-based dark patterns that subtly manipulate consumer behavior and potentially distort decision-making processes. This study aims to analyze the effect of personalization-based dark patterns on consumer decision distortion by integrating perspectives from behavioral economics and business ethics. A quantitative approach was employed using a scenario-based survey involving 212 active e-commerce users. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results indicate that personalization-based dark patterns have a positive and significant effect on consumer decision distortion. Additionally, cognitive biases, particularly loss aversion and anchoring effect, significantly mediate this relationship. Loss aversion is found to be the more dominant mediating factor, suggesting that consumers are more influenced by the fear of missing out than by reference-based judgments. These findings confirm that digital consumers are not fully rational, as their decisions are shaped by psychological biases exploited through system design. In conclusion, algorithm-based dark patterns significantly contribute to distorted consumer decisions through both direct influence and cognitive mechanisms. This study recommends the implementation of more transparent and ethical interface designs, as well as stronger regulatory frameworks to limit manipulative practices. The findings provide theoretical implications by integrating technological, behavioral, and ethical perspectives into a unified framework, and practical implications for developers and policymakers in promoting responsible and sustainable digital platforms.

Abstract

Objective: This research seeks to evaluate the impact of internal control on accounting conservatism while also analyzing managerial ability fuctions as a moderating variabel. Methodology/approach: The research adopts a quantitative approach by utilizing financial statement data from manufacturing companies listed on the indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) over the 2018-2023. The sampel was detemined using purposive sampling, yielding 124 companies each year and the anaysis was conducted with Eviews. Findings: The study’s finding demonstrate that internal control and managerial ability influence accounting conservatism. However, managerial ability weakens the moderating effect, suggesting that higher managerial ability can substitute for internal control in influencing the level of accounting conservatism. Practical implications: Previous research has generally examined determinants of accounting conservatism in isolation, such as internal control or managerial characteristics. However, managerial ability as a moderation variable in the link between internal control and accounting conservatism is still rarely explored, thus opening up space for this study. Originality/value: Novelty of study lies in the testing of managerial ability a moderation variable that is able to strengthen or weaken the influence of internal control in accounting conservatism.

Abstract

Background: The long jump results achieved by students at SMPN 2 Galut, Takalar Regency, are still low. This is due to the students' lack of understanding of the importance of speed and leg muscle explosive power. This study aims to determine the contribution of speed and explosive leg muscle power to long jump ability. This study uses a quantitative research method, specifically a correlational study with a population of 125 third-year students at SMPN 2 Galut in the even semester of 2023/2024. The research sample consisted of 30 people, selected using the simple random sampling technique. The research instruments for data collection were measurements of speed using a 40-meter running test, explosive leg muscle power using a standing long jump test, and measurements of long jump ability. Data analysis was performed using statistical calculations, namely correlation coefficients. The results of the data analysis showed that speed contributed to long jump ability with a coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.614 or 61.4%, and leg muscle power with a coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.390 or 39%. Long jump ability together contributed to long jump ability with a coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.624 or 62.4%. Therefore, to improve long jump ability, students need to increase speed and leg muscle explosive power training.
