Abstract

Arabic grammar textbooks often contain complex and detailed explanations that can make them challenging for students to master and understand. The utilization of technology can now help resolve this issue through web-based infographic innovations. Infographics are a method of presenting information that is easy and quick to comprehend, which suits the conveyance of complex information for Arabic grammar learning. Accordingly, this study aims to develop a web-based interactive infographic module for Arabic grammar learning. The design and development research (DDR) approach was adopted to design and develop the module, grounded in the Sidek module construction model, infographics design model (IDM), and constructivism theory. The module’s development process involved a needs analysis phase, a design and development phase, and a usability evaluation phase. The creation of module components and elements involved the consensus of ten experts through the Fuzzy Delphi technique. The content validity of the developed module was assessed by five experts based on a modified version of Russell’s module content validity questionnaire. The study’s findings suggest that the developed module has high content validity. In conclusion, this module has the potential to be utilized by students for self-learning Arabic grammar and is also apt for online learning, offering a more engaging and efficient experience.

Abstract

Character education has been subjected to a top-down approach with a student center system. The values embedded completely come from the teachers or the school. This study explored how the participatory learning model could effectively instill character values in students. Students are given space to be involved and subjected to a series of character education processes. It aims to describe how students’ and teachers’ participation could compile the points of character values, how students apply the learning materials designed together, and how they are involved in providing evaluations for themselves and their friends. The qualitative descriptive method was employed in the current study. It aimed to observe and listen to the stories of students and teachers regarding their involvement in the process of curriculum development. Documentation on the learning modules was made for data collection. The data were taken by considering the representation of students and teachers. They engaged in every pulse of the learning process, which led to cognitive and affective development. The research proposed a cooperative investigation alongside other educational institutions, factoring in both the type and affiliation of these schools, aiming to produce more diverse and well-rounded outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores using Suno.Ai, an AI-powered platform, to teach maharah istima' (listening comprehension) at Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS). While previous research on digital media has focused mainly on English instruction, few studies have explored the use of AI in Arabic listening education, particularly within Islamic boarding schools. This research addresses that gap by analyzing how Suno.Ai supports Arabic vocabulary acquisition and student engagement. This study employs a qualitative case study design; data were collected through classroom observations and teacher-student interviews and then analyzed thematically and interpretively. Findings show that Suno.Ai enhances students' motivation and comprehension with adequate facilities and teacher guidance, although challenges like internet instability and low digital literacy persist. The novelty of this study lies in its contextual application of AI tools in Arabic language pedagogy. It contributes theoretically by expanding discourse on AI in language learning and offering insights into AI's effective integration in Arabic listening instruction.

Abstract

PurposeLinguistics landscape (LL) is not only a means of showing the identity of a language but also a constructive effort to fight for justice for society. Landscape in this study is a form of protest against security forces for the loss of life of 135 Aremania fans after watching a soccer match between Arema and Persebaya at the Kanjuruan stadium. This research aims, apart from mapping all signs from aspects of language use patterns, also to conduct a critical analysis of the language used. MethodThis study uses quantitative and qualitative methods based on documentation in the form of billboards, boards, and banners installed in various parts of Malang, Indonesia. Content analysis and critical analysis are used to analyze this research. Results/findingsThe findings of this study show that the language used in the landscape has two forms, monolingual and bilingual. In addition, it indicates that four languages are used in the sign. Indonesian has a higher quantity than English, Javanese, and Arabic.  ConclusionThe language pattern used in the landscape tends to reflect sarcasm, cynicism, and rhetoric. This research suggests conducting a follow-up study that examines the same sign in the broader area, including Malang district and East Java region, to obtain varied data and various sign patterns. Thus the data information obtained is more comprehensive.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore teachers’ didactic competencies in planning Arabic language teaching for Non-Native Speaker (NNS) students at the Islamic senior high school level. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was used in this study. The results of this study showed that the didactic competence of Arabic language teachers in planning Arabic language teaching had not been in line with applicable regulations and guidelines, such as determining core competencies and basic competencies levels, formulating the indicators of competency achievement, setting learning objectives, and developing learning activities by integrating 4C skills in core activities. The foregoing was due to the lack of teachers’ understanding and experiences in developing syllabi and preparing lesson plans. It is hoped that this study can be a reference for Arabic language teachers at all levels of Islamic schools, especially in developing a syllabus and preparing appropriate lesson plans, so that learning processes can be carried out effectively.
