Abstract

In the field of education, management plays a critical role in ensuring the caliber of educational initiatives. The secret to making educational institutions more competitive is strategic management, which also establishes the degree of program implementation success. This study is to examine how strategic management is applied in Arabic language learning programs at online learning institutions, with a focus on the @marhaban.academy institution's use of the Instagram platform. This study employs descriptive approaches in a qualitative manner. Comprehensive interviews, observation, and documentation were used to gather data. Three steps make up the employed data analysis technique: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drafting. The study's findings indicate that the @marhaban.academy strategy is being implemented in the Arabic language learning program through the following methods: 1) environmental analysis using the question box feature to gauge interest from language learners; 2) setting strategic goals using the institution's vision and mission; 3) identifying the organizational structure made up of a teaching team, marketing team, editorial team, and chairman; 4) creating a content strategy using the story feature to create mufrodat quizzes; and 5) learning through Arabic language cartoon films on Instagram.

Abstract

The distance learning policy poses several challenges for Arabic teachers, students, and parents and causes a decrease in humanistic authority among teachers. Online learning tends to weaken their role in this aspect. This study identifies activities teachers can no longer do during online Arabic learning. In addition, this study also explores the factors that cause the erosion of this humanistic role. Using a qualitative descriptive method through interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with several teachers, this study found seven challenging activities for teachers, such as providing individual guidance to students face-to-face. Technology that acts as a communication medium between teachers and students causes limitations in understanding each student's character in depth. It is recommended that educators adopt a more adaptive approach, which can view students as active subjects in the learning process.

Abstract

PurposeLinguistics landscape (LL) is not only a means of showing the identity of a language but also a constructive effort to fight for justice for society. Landscape in this study is a form of protest against security forces for the loss of life of 135 Aremania fans after watching a soccer match between Arema and Persebaya at the Kanjuruan stadium. This research aims, apart from mapping all signs from aspects of language use patterns, also to conduct a critical analysis of the language used. MethodThis study uses quantitative and qualitative methods based on documentation in the form of billboards, boards, and banners installed in various parts of Malang, Indonesia. Content analysis and critical analysis are used to analyze this research. Results/findingsThe findings of this study show that the language used in the landscape has two forms, monolingual and bilingual. In addition, it indicates that four languages are used in the sign. Indonesian has a higher quantity than English, Javanese, and Arabic.  ConclusionThe language pattern used in the landscape tends to reflect sarcasm, cynicism, and rhetoric. This research suggests conducting a follow-up study that examines the same sign in the broader area, including Malang district and East Java region, to obtain varied data and various sign patterns. Thus the data information obtained is more comprehensive.

Abstract

In contrast to the customary mahar or dowry system in typical Indonesian marriages, West Sumatra's Minangkabau people in Pariaman practice a unique ‘dowry for groom’ tradition, in which the bride pays a dowry to the bridegroom based on his social status. Payment is adjusted according to the social status of the man and is a must for the marriage to take place. This paper aims to examine the persistence and strengthening of the ‘dowry for groom’ tradition in the Pariaman Muslim community in West Sumatra by focusing on three main issues, namely the practice of ‘dowry for groom’ in the Pariaman community; factors that make the ‘dowry for groom’ tradition survive among Pariaman Muslims in the midst of the swift currents of modernization and globalization; and the mechanism of social reproduction of the 'dowry for men' tradition in the Pariaman community. The study is an empirical legal research using sociological theory as an analytical tool. Data is collected through interviews, observation and literature studies. The findings reveal that the reinforcement of the 'dowry for groom' tradition in Pariaman society is supported by several fundamental factors, including the widespread practice and support from the community, religious and traditional leaders, the local government, and the younger generation. The 'dowry for groom' tradition in Pariaman reflects the values of Muslim identity, such as adherence to religious teachings by finding husbands for daughters and maintaining a spirit of mutual aid, while also protecting the Minangkabau institution of ninik mamak (elders) and strengthening women's position as the true "monarchs" in Minangkabau society. Further research could explore more extensive meanings related to the 'dowry for groom' tradition

Abstract

Surah az-zukhruf contains verses of the Qur'an that contain information and affirmations of Allah to mankind. The themes raised are about the exaltation of Allah, the debate between Muslims and disbelievers and several other themes aimed at providing understanding and affirmation so that the effectiveness of information can be conveyed from people who do not know to people who deny. This research aims to determine the form of kalam khabar and its purpose contained in the utterances uttered by speakers (mutakallim) in the Qur'an, especially surah az-zukhruf along with its social, cultural and historical context. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, which is a literature study that examines the verses of the Qur'an with the approach of balaghah study. The source of data in this research is surah az-zukhruf which amounts to 89 verses of the Makkiyah surah. Then, the data of this study were collected through 2 stages, namely reading and recording. The analysis technique used in this research is interpreting and drawing conclusions in accordance with the research objectives. The results of this study show that the form of kalam khabar that tends to appear is kalam khabar ibtida'i with a percentage of 22 data (47%), while for kalam khabar thalabi has a percentage of 16 data (33%), the last is kalam khabar inkari whose percentage is 10 data (20%). So, it can be concluded that in surah az-zukhruf it tends to be used without taukid and also does not use a lot of taukid in its verses. The researcher concludes that there is a lot of information revealed by Allah to mankind through the verses in surah az-zukhruf.

Abstract

Arabic textbooks function as language learning tools and vehicles for instilling nationalist values. This study uses content analysis to examine three Arabic textbooks the Ministry of Religious Affairs endorsed, focusing on representations of nationalism, symbols, and directives within Arabic and local cultural contexts. The findings reveal that the textbooks emphasize fundamental values of nationalism, including patriotism, tolerance, fraternity, and environmental care. Verbal representations highlight a love for Indonesia and religious understanding, while visual representations, such as historical structures and natural scenery, reinforce patriotism, unity, cultural appreciation, and environmental stewardship. Through Arabic language education, students are encouraged to embrace their national identity, foster cross-cultural understanding, and contribute positively to Indonesian society. This study underscores the role of Arabic textbooks in promoting nationalist values and shaping responsible citizens committed to Indonesia's progress and well-being.
