Abstract

Self-awareness is an individual's ability to recognize their emotions, values, and thought patterns, as well as to understand factors that influence their actions and social interactions. Generation Z, growing up in the digital and information era, faces unique challenges due to their low awareness of mental health, leading to increased cases of anxiety, depression, and burnout resulting from social and academic pressures. Consequently, they are often trapped in self-unawareness and identity crises caused by contradictions between personal values and social expectations. This article aims to determine the extent of the use of problem-solving techniques in group guidance services over the past two years, evaluating their efficiency or inefficiency to assess whether deconstruction is needed. The method used in this article is qualitative research through a literature review. The literature review process involves: (1) gathering data from various sources, (2) processing relevant references, (3) presenting research findings, (4) abstraction, (5) interpreting results, and (6) drawing conclusions. The data sources are derived from reputable books and journals relevant to the study's topic. The findings indicate that using problem-solving techniques in group guidance services has been relatively effective and efficient in improving Generation Z's self-awareness. In conclusion, deconstructing self-awareness through problem-solving techniques in group guidance facilitates better self-awareness and unlocks the optimal potential for Generation Z's personal and social lives.

Abstract

Differentiated learning has become a critical approach in counselor education, as it allows instructional processes to be tailored to individual learner needs. However, most existing Learning Management Systems (LMS) have yet to fully support this pedagogical principle. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, particularly Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) models, new opportunities have emerged to develop more adaptive and personalized LMS platforms. This study aims to identify the initial design needs of a differentiated learning LMS in counselor education and explore the potential integration of GPT as a supportive technology. Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, data were collected from 34 pre-service teachers in a Guidance and Counseling Teacher Professional Education Program using a combination of open- and closed-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The analysis revealed eight key areas of student need within the LMS, including media variation, contextualization, interactivity, accessibility, and automated feedback. GPT’s features were found to align with these needs, particularly its ability to deliver case-based simulations, personalized content recommendations, and adaptive feedback. These findings provide a conceptual foundation for the development of LMS platforms that are more contextualized, human-centered, and capable of supporting differentiated learning in counselor education.

Abstract

Facts in the field show that the empathy skills that prospective counselors have in understanding their counseling, especially in the aspect of empathy have not been comprehensively internalized. This research has three specific objectives (1) to develop a case method learning model guide based on serat wedharaga  values to increase the empathy of prospective counselors; (2) the developed model is theoretically tested through the validation of material experts, media, and potential users; (3) The model is empirically tested that  the case method learning model  is based on the value of serat wedharagas to increase the empathy of prospective counselors. The implementation of this research uses the development method with ADDIE design. The results of the development are in the form of a learning guide that includes sixteen meetings, containing materials, media, and evaluation tools. The developed learning model proved to be theoretically feasible and practically effective, demonstrated through a paired t-test with a value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, indicating a significant improvement between pretest and posttest. Thus, serat wedharaga value-based learning  is effective in increasing the empathy of prospective counselors. Suggestions for the next researcher to conduct follow-up studies related to the development of other learning models to strengthen the professional character of prospective counselors.

Abstract

This study investigates whether mindfulness fosters grit among Islamic elementary school students across diverse socio-demographic contexts in Indonesia. The growing need for non-cognitive competencies, such as perseverance and self-regulation, underscores the importance of identifying psychological factors that support students’ academic persistence. Therefore, this research aims to examine the predictive role of mindfulness for grit and explore variations in both constructs by gender, residential area (rural–urban), and province. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 535 students from Islamic primary schools across 24 provinces. Data were collected using adapted versions of the Child and Adolescent Mindfulness Measure and an elementary school grit scale, both demonstrating acceptable validity and internal consistency reliability in the Indonesian context. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and simple linear regression. Results indicate that most students demonstrate moderate levels of mindfulness and grit, with significant differences across gender, region, and province. Female and rural students score higher on mindfulness and grit. Regression analysis reveals that mindfulness significantly predicts grit (β = 0.440, p < .001), explaining 19.4% of the variance, suggesting that present moment awareness and emotional regulation contribute to students’ perseverance. These findings imply that cultivating mindfulness within Islamic educational settings may strengthen character education and enhance academic resilience. Future research should use longitudinal and experimental designs, include multi-informant data, and consider contextual factors to better understand how mindfulness supports grit development.
