Abstract

The Banggai cardinalfish Pterapogon kauderni is the Indonesian national marine ornamental fish mascot, and an object of national and international conservation concern. The endemic population of this species is limited to the Banggai Archipelago in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia and a few nearby islands in North Maluku. In addition, introduced populations have become established, mainly along ornamental fish trade routes. The National Action Plan for Banggai Cardinalfish Conservation (NAP-BCFC) calls for monitoring and management of all P. kauderni populations. A survey of the Luwuk introduced P. kauderni population was carried out in October 2021. Data were collected at three sites with established P. kauderni populations: the ferry harbour, public harbour (Teluk Lalong) and a recreational area on the nearby coast (Kilo 5). P. kauderni were recorded by microhabitat association and size class (recruits, juveniles, adults). Data collected were compared with data from previous surveys where available. With the exception of one group in a sea anemone at Kilo 5, all P. kauderni were associated with Diadema sea urchins (D. setosum at all sites; D. savignyi at Kilo 5). At Kilo 5 P. kauderni the population structure indicates the possible capture of market-sized juveniles. Overall abundance was also lower compared to the polluted but unfished harbours. The proportion of recruits was significantly negatively correlated with the ratio of adult P. kauderni to Diadema urchins. The results will inform regional legislation currently in preparation to support sustainable management of P. kauderni populations, habitat and microhabitat in Central Sulawesi, as well as contributing to NAP-BCFC targets. Keywords:Banggai cardinalfishEndangered speciesDiademaMicrohabitat,MonitoringOrnamental fisheryLocal regulation

Abstract

Background Problems: Scientific research exploring the comparative analysis of the physical, physiological, and anthropometric characteristics associated with the server and spiker positions in double-category sepak takraw remains relatively scarce. Research Objectives: This study aims to compare the physical, physiological, and anthropometric characteristics between players in the server and spiker positions in the double category of sepak takraw. Methods: The research method used is an observational study with a quantitative approach. This study consisted of 18 male sepak takraw athletes, with 9 athletes each playing as servers and 9 athletes playing as spikers. The statistical analyses were conducted utilizing the SPSS Version 22 application. Findings and Results: The results of this study showed that there were statistically significant differences in body height, aerobic capacity, and leg strength between server and speaker positions (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, there were no significant differences in the variables age, weight, BMI, fat percentage, speed, agility, and flexibility. Dynamic, attractive game requirements and manoeuvres in the air for players in the spiker position have the potential to contribute to superior VO2max values and increased leg muscle strength compared to players in the server position. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that athletes in the spiker position show superior anthropometric and physiological attributes compared to those in the server position. Different understandings of the different characteristics associated with each position in the sport of sepak takraw provide new insights and views for coaches and athletes themselves. In addition, it is hoped that this research will have implications for optimizing training programs that adapt to the demands of each position. Furthermore, these findings serve as a reference for talent search events that assist in the identification and development of athletes with optimal physiological profiles for their respective roles in double-category sepak takraw.

Abstract

The media virtual lab was developed with a spreadsheet that displayed 168 electrolysis reactions and performed reaction calculations. The implementation is done to improve the Science Process Skills (SPS) using the power of media. The design is an application of the model Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) of Research and Development (R&D). The VL was validated and revised by three media experts, who gave 88 on a score scale and were categorized as the highly qualified assessment of media, material, and visual communication. VL is used more in experimental classes than in control classes and SPS. Both of these classes include descriptions of tests, while SPS description tests generated normal but distributed data with a value of 0,502>0,05. The Levene test with a value of 0.849>0.05 indicates that the data is homogenous. The VL is there is a significant difference because the result of t test value obtained are 0,000<0x7E>0.05. The percentage score of each indicator from the experimental class is compared with the control class, which has a high percentage of each indicator. The farthest difference is the domain for movement manipulation and procedure implementation skills. This lends evidence to the hypothesis test that using VL can augment SPS.

Abstract

Enhancing creativity through education enriched with local wisdom is essential, allowing students to delve into new ideas and information about chemical concepts through everyday phenomena. This research investigates the impact of a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model infused with local wisdom on student creativity. A quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups was utilized. The participants were eleventh-grade students selected via purposive sampling. The study employed questionnaires and observation sheets as instruments. The procedure demonstrated that PjBL, enriched with local wisdom, significantly fosters student creativity by supporting authentic learning experiences and encouraging innovative ideas. In contrast, direct instruction predominantly centers on teacher-led activities, with minimal direct student engagement. The data analysis included average difference tests, N-gain, and percentage analysis. Results indicated a notable improvement in student creativity within the PjBL group compared to the control, with statistical significance at 0.000 < 0.05. N-gain scores were medium (0.44) for the experimental group and low (0.25) for the control. Creativity scores in the experimental group were high across all indicators—preparation, person, process, product, and press—ranging from 93.6 to 96.8. In contrast, the control group scored in the medium range from 66.7 to 72.6. This evidence suggests that the PjBL model effectively enhances student creativity by contextually integrating hydrocarbon chemical concepts with local wisdom. Therefore, this approach achieves curriculum goals and motivates educators and students to embrace and apply local wisdom creatively in their learning processes.
