Abstract

Learning Indonesian makes students less interested in participating in learning because of the use of inappropriate media and learning methods. This causes students to be passive in the learning process, resulting in low student learning outcomes. Teachers should use interesting media to motivate students to improve learning outcomes. This research aims to create a smart app creator media based on synthetic, analytical structural methods to improve the phoneme pronunciation skills of low-grade students. This research includes development research using the Borg and Gall model. The research subjects were first-grade elementary school students, class teachers, and a team of experts. Data analysis techniques use quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The research results obtained were a media test of 97.5% and a material expert of 90%. The effectiveness of the SAS method-based smart apps creator media for improving phoneme pronunciation can be seen from the increase in pretest and post-test scores on the N-Gain Test. The increase in skills obtained from the average pretest (67.22) and posttest (88.56) scores on the small-scale test was 21.38. The large-scale test also experienced an increase in the average pretest (65.67) and posttest (85.43) scores of 19.76. Based on this, it can be concluded that the smart media creator app based on the SAS method can improve students' skills in pronouncing phonemes.

Abstract

Many students still struggle with low writing skills due to a lack of knowledge about writing. This research aims to develop edutainment-based comic learning media to improve historical narrative writing skills for fifth-grade elementary students. This type of research is development research using the Borg and Gall model and involves one expert in learning materials and one in learning media. The study's test subjects were 6 students from class 5B for a small-scale test and 25 students from class 5A for a large-scale test. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests. The instruments used were questionnaires and test questions. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that learning media validation by material experts scored 94% (very feasible) and by media experts scored 82.5% (feasible). The effectiveness of edutainment-based comic learning media was evident with an increase in the average student pretest and posttest scores in the skills aspect by 0.40, categorized as "medium." The questionnaire results and responses from teachers and students indicated that the media were very appropriate. In conclusion, comic media with edutainment innovation significantly improves student learning outcomes in writing skills and is suitable for use in elementary schools. This research has implications for enhancing the quality of teaching services and improving Indonesian language learning outcomes in elementary schools through the development of effective teaching media.

Abstract

This research intends to describe the ability of first-year students to understand numbers and to explain their thinking processes in the arithmetic operations of addition and subtraction studied in Bruner's theory. Under the qualitative method with descriptive research design, this research was carried out during the 2nd batch of the Kampus Mengajar program, which the researcher joined. The research subjects were first-grade students at SD Sumogawe 04. The data were collected through several techniques, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicated different understanding levels of the students. Once a student gets the number conservation laws, s/he is ready to learn the concept of numbers and their operations. The arithmetic operations taught to grade I students are addition and subtraction. Applying Bruner's learning theory could improve the quality of learning the target theme and stimulate the students' active participation in classroom activities which simultaneously led them to conceptual discovery.

Abstract

This study aims to improve numeracy skills through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by differentiated concrete media to grade 1 student at SDN Sampangan 01 Semarang. The method used is Miles and Huberman's (1994: 12) interactive analysis method which includes three activities, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) verification, in presenting data using qualitative and quantitative data. Based on the results of research and discussion it is known that students' numeracy skills have increased by up to 82%. So, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model with the help of differentiated concrete media can improve the numeracy skills of subtraction material in grade 1 students, because with the help of differentiated concrete media students can learn in real terms and are more interested in participating in learning.

Abstract

Using literary works in language and learning cannot be avoided. For this reason, this research aimed to determine the use of literary works in students' literature learning to support the School Literacy Movement (GLS) at SDN Genuksari 01. There are several research stages in this research: the pre-field, fieldwork, and data analysis stages. The data were collected through interview techniques and questionnaires conducted on 17 classroom teachers and a school principal (18 participants). The data obtained was then processed and analyzed descriptively according to the research flow. Finally, data validity was carried out by triangulating data and sources. This study's result is that most teachers have implemented literary works in literature learning since before the pandemic until now. The sources are from the school library, teachers, or students in the form of printed or digital. This means GLS in SDN Genuksari 01 is supported by using literary works in the literature learning process. However, there are several challenges experienced by the teachers, such as limited sources in the school library, teachers' inability to use IT-based literary works, teachers' limitation in understanding literary material, and students' low interest in reading activities.
