Abstract

ABSTRACT Nature zeolite are capable of removing quantities of heavy metals from wastewaters, that they have potential properties as adsorbent for capacity and selectivity. Meanwhile, Indonesia has wide and large-scale distribution of zeolite. It give easy access to these minerals for characterization with respect to their function as adsorbent. The naturalzeolite was activated physically by heating it at temperature of 150° C andchemically using 6 M HCl and NH4NO3 2 M. The variations of adsorbent matrix entry in the column were used to determine the ratio of the amount of adsorption with a bed length of 10, 15, and 20 cm. The value of metal Cr(VI) was found that in wastewater samples of 14,68 ppm. Based on Regulation of Central Java Province no. 10 of 2004, the wastewater has been passed the standards of quality wastewater. The one-time elution showed that a solution of 80 ppm K2Cr2O7 in each adsorption column ZA-10, ZA-15 and ZA-20 with value adsorption of 98,07%; 99,23 %; dan 99,96 % for the adsorbent adsorption, respectively. The one-time elution showed that wastewater samples the value of the metal Cr(VI) content of 14.68 ppm in each adsorption column ZA-10, ZA-15 and ZA-20 with value adsorption for 99.97%, 98.39% and 99.39 %98,45 %; 99,54 %; and 99,97 % for the adsorbent adsorption, respectively. The liquid waste of batik manufacturing after processing showed to meets the criteria of wastewater quality standard in terms of the metal Cr(VI) content. Key words: liquid waste of batik manufacturing, metal Cr(VI), adsorption, natural zeolite.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the difference of cognitive learning achievement between students taught with Concept Attainment Model and those taught with Discovery Learning model. This study was a quasi-experimental research. The population of research was the 12th Science graders of SMAN 1 Karas of Magetan Regency in school year of 2016/2017. The sample was taken using cluster random sampling technique, consisting of two grades: the 12th Science 4 grade as the first experiment class using Concept Attainment Model and the 12th Science 3 grade as the second experiment class using Discovery Learning model. Technique of collecting data used was t-test technique for data of students’ cognitive learning outcome. Data analysis was carried out using unpaired two-sample variance analysis. The result of research showed there was a difference of cognitive learning outcome between the students treated with learning using Concept Attainment Model and those treated with learning using Discovery Learning. The cognitive learning achievement of students taught with Concept Attainment Model was higher than that of those taught with Discovery Learning.

Abstract

Generic skills are the skills which needed to face the future. In this study, the generic skills that discussed are the generic skills on the science field, called generic science skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of module based on discovery learning to increase generic science skills. This study was conducted at one of the State Madrasah Aliyah in Surakarta academic year 2016/2017. The pre test and post test research pattern with treatment and control class groups were used throughout the study. While the treatment group taught by using module based on discovery learning, the control group was taught by a module that commonly used in the school. As the study concluded, using module based on discovery learning in the learning process is effective to increase generic science skills.

Abstract

Besides learning outcomes, motivation and problem solving skill are the essential indicators for successful learning. Hence, the existence of learning media which considerably follow the advance of technology has been assumed to be able to support the achievement of the indicators mentioned. Thus, the current research aimed at implementing the Augmented Reality (AR) technology to improve students’ problem solving skill, motivation, and learning outcomes. The sample was 56 of eighth graders which covered the both control and experimental classes. This quasi experimental research employed test and observation sheet as the instruments. The data was analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The ANCOVA test results showed that were significance differences of the three indicators (problem solving skills, motivation, and learning outcomes) achieved, in which the experimental class was higher than control class. In conclusion, the AR can influence students’ problem solving skills, motivation, and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Learning resources and learning models are the two main components that determine learning success. Of the many learning models, Problem-based Learning (PBL) is one of the most recommended in biology learning. The purpose of this content analysis was to identify the emergence of PBL syntax in junior high school biology textbooks. The population in this study were all biology textbooks for the VII graders, while the sample was three biology textbooks that are often used by VII graders in Surakarta. As the results, the averages of each PBL step emerged in the textbooks analyzed i.e. problem-oriented activity, organizing to collect data, assisting independent investigations, artifacts presentations, and analyzed/evaluated the process of overcoming the problem were 17%, 47%, 23%, 2%, and 11%, respectively. Thus, it can be concluded that the biology textbooks analyzed have applied PBL learning models, yet the proportion between steps is not balanced.

Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, learning activities have encountered obstacles. One of the impacts was the low learning outcomes achieved by students. The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students during the physical distancing period by implementing problem-based learning through Smart Apps Creator 3. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) used Smart Apps Creator 3 as the platform during learning activities of junior high school students. The research subjects were junior high school students (VIII graders of SMP Negeri 8 Surakarta) with a total number of students was 32 which consisted of 16 males and 16 females. The results showed that the application of Smart Apps Creator 3 has improved students’ learning outcomes. It has been proven that the average test score increased from 73.43 (pre-cycle) to 85.56 (cycle II). Moreover, the N gain score obtained was 0.45 (categorized as sufficient). In addition, the percentages of classical learning completeness were 59.37% (pre-cycle) and 93.75% (cycle II). Thus, the Smart Apps Creator 3 can improve student learning outcomes.
