Abstract

Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in developing students' language skills from an early age. However, in practice, the learning process is still often conducted conventionally, which fails to effectively enhance student motivation and active engagement. The advancement of digital technology offers an opportunity to address these issues through the use of more varied and interactive digital learning media. This study aims to examine the utilization of digital learning media in Indonesian language learning at elementary schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method involved searching for and analyzing relevant scholarly articles through Google Scholar and accredited national journals. The articles analyzed were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings show that digital learning media, such as learning videos, interactive multimedia, educational applications, and digital teaching materials, are widely used in Indonesian language learning at elementary schools. The use of these media has been proven to enhance student motivation, engagement, learning outcomes, and language skills. Thus, digital learning media can serve as an effective alternative in improving the quality of Indonesian language learning at elementary schools.

Abstract

Innovation in Indonesian language learning models is key to addressing literacy challenges in the digital era. This study aims to identify, map, and synthesize the trends of innovative Indonesian language learning models in elementary schools within the last five years (2021–2026). Method: This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol. Data were collected from reputable databases including Google Scholar, SINTA, DOAJ, and ERIC using specific Boolean operators. After a rigorous screening process, 15 key articles meeting the inclusion criteria were selected for comprehensive analysis. Results: The findings reveal four dominant innovation trends: (1) the integration of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creative writing; (2) the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) rooted in local wisdom; (3) the adoption of differentiated learning to address the heterogeneity of literacy skills; and (4) the utilization of multimodal media to enhance reading and listening comprehension. These innovations have been shown to significantly improve student engagement, learning motivation, and Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Conclusion: The transformation from conventional, teacher-centered models to technology-integrated and student-centered approaches is crucial for enhancing national literacy quality. This study recommends prioritizing teacher professional development in digital competence to ensure the sustainability of these innovative models in elementary classrooms.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of local cultural values into Indonesian language instruction to strengthen elementary school students’ character development. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, the study analyzed 25 relevant scholarly articles selected from academic databases and Google Scholar based on strict inclusion criteria. The synthesis identified effective strategies and best practices for incorporating local cultural elements such as folktales, proverbs, pantun, and oral traditions into the Indonesian language curriculum. The findings indicate that integrating local culture not only enhances students’ linguistic understanding but also fosters positive character values, including tolerance, cooperation, patriotism, responsibility, honesty, social awareness, respect for elders, and appreciation of diversity. Implementation can be carried out through thematic and contextual approaches, culture-based extracurricular activities, and the development of locally relevant teaching materials. However, challenges remain, including limited teacher competence, insufficient contextual learning resources, and inadequate policy support. Therefore, this study recommends teacher training, the development of local wisdom–based instructional materials, and collaboration among schools, families, and communities. Integrating local cultural values makes Indonesian language learning more meaningful and supports sustainable character education aligned with 21st-century learning and the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the utilization of digital technology-based learning media in teaching the Indonesian language at elementary schools using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research methodology involves the analysis of scientific articles, both from domestic and international sources, published in the last 5–10 years and sourced from indexed databases. The review process includes the steps of identification, selection, evaluation, and analysis of articles based on predetermined criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The findings indicate that digital technology-based learning media, such as interactive multimedia, educational videos, educational apps, and online learning platforms, have a positive impact on increasing students' motivation, understanding of the material, and language skills in elementary schools. Furthermore, the use of digital media can create a more engaging, relevant, and student-centered learning experience. However, there are several challenges, including limited facilities, low digital competence among teachers, and unequal access to technology. Therefore, policy support, continuous teacher training, and adequate infrastructure provision are needed to maximize the use of digital technology-based learning media in Indonesian language education at elementary schools.

Abstract

Speaking skills are an essential competence in language learning, supporting effective communication and active student participation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the collaborative learning model to enhance students’ speaking skills. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted to evaluate previous studies on collaborative strategies, discussion techniques, and group activities in the context of language learning. The findings indicate that collaborative models, such as Think-Pair-Share, Jigsaw, and Role-Play, effectively improve students’ confidence, argumentation skills, fluency, and active engagement in learning. The implementation of this model also promotes social interaction, teamwork, and peer reflection. However, challenges include uneven group management, differences in student abilities, and teacher readiness to facilitate collaborative learning. This study recommends structured collaborative strategies, clear role assignments, and pedagogical training for teachers to maximize the effectiveness of speaking skill development in the classroom.

Abstract

Reading comprehension skills are fundamental competencies that play an important role in the learning success of elementary school students. However, various studies indicate that students’ reading comprehension abilities remain relatively low, partly due to the use of less varied and insufficiently student-centered learning strategies. This study aims to systematically examine various learning strategies for reading comprehension skills among elementary school students through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The research was conducted by reviewing relevant scientific articles from national and international journal databases, which were then selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify the types of learning strategies, implementation trends, and their impacts on students’ reading comprehension abilites. The findings reveal that guided reading strategies, KWL strategies, metacognitive strategies, cooperative learning, and text-based learning are the most frequently implemented strategies and have proven effective in improving elementary school students’ reading comprehension skills. These strategies enhance student engagement, text comprehension, and critical thinking skills. This study emphasizes that the implementation of active, systematic, and contextual learning strategies is essential for improving the quality of reading comprehension instruction in elementary schools.
