Abstract

This qualitative study explores the perceptions of clinic staff regarding their experiences with teleconsultation services and the human resource management (HRM) aspects involved in implementing such services in a small general practice (GP) clinic in Bali, Indonesia. The clinic operates a unique model where nurses manage patient care during morning shifts with remote physician support via teleconsultation. Data were collected through an online long-form survey completed by nine current and former staff members, including nurses and physicians. Thematic analysis revealed that teleconsultation was widely perceived as improving efficiency and accessibility of care. However, participants also reported challenges such as communication gaps, technical limitations, and diagnostic constraints. All respondents emphasized the need for structured training, adequate infrastructure, and clear communication protocols. While most participants expressed satisfaction with the service, this was closely linked to the availability of support and the nature of patient interaction. The findings underscore the importance of comprehensive HRM strategies that address both technical and interpersonal dimensions to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of teleconsultation services in small clinical settings

Abstract

English for Medical purposes is increasingly important in medical education to prepare students to actively participate in international scientific communication. However, medical students in Indonesia still face challenges in oral communication and academic writing, making them less than optimal in following global discourse. This study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach in its second stage, namely planning for English for medical academic purposes syllabus. Document analysis was conducted on existing lecture materials, case scenarios in medical education, and international frameworks in scientific communication and the previous need analysis. The designed syllabus systematically integrates four language skills namely speaking, listening, reading, and writing, through learning activities such as Small Group Discussion (SGD) using the Seven Steps to Problem Solving (7-Jump Step) method, oral presentation training, article structure analysis, and medical text evaluation using the Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion/IMRAD, Setting, Population, Intervention, Condition, Endpoint (SPICED), and Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials/CONSORT models. The EMAP syllabus provides a practical and contextual model for integrating language and content in medical education Keywords: English for Medical and Academic Purposes ; syllabus design, Research and Development

Abstract

Heavy-metal contamination in river systems poses an escalating threat to aquatic ecosystems and public health. This study provides the first integrated geospatial assessment of zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn) in water and sediment of the Way Ratai River, an area increasingly impacted by artisanal gold processing. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and X-ray fluorescence were used to evaluate water and sediment samples that were gathered at five key locations. Spatial interpolation via ArcGIS with an inverse distance weighting algorithm identified contamination hotspots. In river water, Zn averaged 0.05 ppm, Mn 0.009 ppm, and Fe 0.075 ppm, while Cd and Cu were below detection limits. Sediment concentrations were markedly elevated: Zn 702.62 ppm, Mn 685.60 ppm, Fe 2,954.72 ppm, and Cu 253.84 ppm. All detected metals exceeded regional background thresholds, particularly near gold-processing effluent zones, indicating significant geochemical accumulation. These findings underscore the urgent need for stringent waste-management protocols—such as coagulation and adsorption systems—to mitigate heavy-metal release and protect downstream ecosystems and human communities. This research closes a critical data gap and offers a spatially resolved framework for monitoring and remediation strategies in mining-impacted watersheds.

Abstract

Development is a must and important in an effort to create community welfare. In carrying out development, it is necessary to cooperate with the government as a development coordinator with parties outside the government who have sensitivity and a sense of social responsibility for development in the community. Community Social Institutions (NGOs) are institutions from the community that can be used as government partners in community development. This program is supported by increasing the capacity of institutions and the community itself through training and counseling. The role of NGOs in strengthening local government, the results obtained are at the structural stage. This means that we can only see the birth of a local government structure which in fact originates from the desire of the community that is formed in a participatory manner. However, to see the role of government that influences the development and welfare of the community, this is still not seen in a concrete way. This is in accordance with the concept of empowerment that empowerment is a process. Local government or empowerment cannot be done in a short time pheriod. Sustainability in this program is needed until the local government can truly be empowered or independent. To increase local government independence, not only carried out by NGOs, but all of relevant parties such as the Regional Government, the Community, and the local government it self, there must be efforts to increase empowerment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Just Culture and organizational culture on the awareness of incident reporting behavior by healthcare workers at Siloam Hospital Banjarmasin. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method through questionnaires and documentation, and involved 88 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity), multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing (t-test and F-test) and the coefficient of determination. The results showed that Just Culture and organizational culture have a significant influence on incident reporting behavior by healthcare workers at Siloam Hospital Banjarmasin. The regression coefficient value for Just Culture is 0.830 with a significance of 0.000, while organizational culture has a coefficient of 0.241 with a significance of 0.025, both of which are smaller than 0.05. This indicates that increasing Just Culture and organizational culture will positively increase incident reporting behavior. Multiple linear regression analysis produces the equation Y = 3.283 + 0.830 X1 + 0.241 X2, and the coefficient of determination (R Square) value is 0.506, which means that more than half of the variation in incident reporting behavior can be explained by both variables simultaneously. The F test also shows a significance of 0.000, confirming the joint influence of Just Culture and organizational culture on incident reporting behavior. This finding emphasizes the importance of strengthening both cultures in increasing awareness and actions of incident reporting in the hospital environment.
