Abstract

This study investigates the impact of interactive video-based learning media on student motivation and learning outcomes in primary education. Despite the growing use of digital media in education, many students still struggle with abstract material and low motivation. The research aims to test whether interactive video can enhance these areas. A quasi-experimental design was used with 26 fourth-grade students from MI Almaarif 02 Singosari, Malang, employing purposive sampling. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments and surveys on student motivation. Statistical analysis included paired t-tests and regression analysis to examine the relationship between interactive video media use and improvements in motivation and academic performance. The results indicate a significant positive effect, with the experimental group showing a higher N-Gain (0.82) compared to the control group (0.57), supporting the hypothesis that interactive media improves both motivation and learning outcomes (p < 0.001). These findings contribute to the literature by demonstrating the efficacy of interactive video in religious education, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers. The study suggests further research to explore long-term impacts and the potential for broader application across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Islamic education (PAI) faces challenges from various aspects. In many cases, disproportionate interpretations of hadith, one of the PAI’s subject, often cause many problems in society. According to the fact, authors suggest innovations in integrative hadith learning with social sciences to respond to challenges in the world of Islamic education. The authors found several findings using a qualitative approach and a literature study model. First, various Islamic educational challenges are rooted in globalization with the advent of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 era. One of the PAI challenges and problems is an atomistic study. Second, various educational innovations were created by the scholars, such as the use of modern information and communication technology (ICT), and the theory of Multiple Intelligence (MI). Third, integrative hadith learning needs to be carried out in the PAI learning, which is interpreted as a material object and social sciences as a formal object. Educators can comprehensively explain the material for discussing hadith comprehensively and have the vision of rahmatan li al-‘alamin. In addition, students will also be able to understand and eliminate the irregularities of the hadith meaning. The authors conclude that integrative hadith learning is very important in PAI learning to respond to the challenges of Islamic education.

Abstract

Background: Islamic education in Indonesia experienced significant dynamics under pressure and interaction with state power during the Old and New Order periods. Purpose: This research aims to examine the forms of resistance and adaptation of Islamic education in the socio-political context of the Old and New Order eras. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a historical-critical study design. Data sources come from education policy documents, historical archives, and relevant secondary literature. The population in this research is all Islamic education policies during the Old Order and New Order, with samples in the form of documents and representative policies selected purposively. The research instrument is a document review guide and the analysis technique uses a content analysis approach to the socio-political dynamics of Islamic education. Results and Discussion: This study found that Islamic education during the Old Order showed resistance to the penetration of state ideology, while during the New Order there was a process of structural adaptation for the sustainability of Islamic education institutions. This finding shows a shift in the strategy of Islamic education actors in responding to power pressures. The results of this study fill the historical gap related to the relationship between the state and Islamic education, which has not been studied from a critical socio-political perspective. Conclusions and Implications: Islamic education shows flexibility between resistance and adaptation in the face of state control. This result implies the importance of understanding Islamic education not only as a religious institution, but also as a political and social arena that actively shapes national identity.

This research uses a library research method with a historical-sociological approach and is based on Islamic education theory and civilization. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, then analyzed using qualitative-descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) The form of Islamic education in building civilization consists of three main paradigms: traditional, modern, and integrative, (2) Influential internal factors include religious values, local culture, and educational policies, while external factors include globalization, technology, and political dynamics, (3) The implications of Islamic Education on civilization include positive impacts in the form of increasing morality, intellectuality, and social solidarity,  as well as negative impacts such as resistance to modernization, exclusivism, and limited adaptation to global changes. In conclusion, Islamic education has a significant role in building a dynamic civilization based on Islamic values, but it needs adaptation to remain relevant in the context of globalization.

Abstract

Borneo is a term that is often used for an alternative name for the island of Kalimantan. This article tries to describe the strengthening of the character of Nationalism in the tail of Borneo. The setting of this research study is in Temajuk Village, Paloh District, Sambas Regency, this is because Temajuk is an area directly adjacent to Malaysia. This study is directed at the aspect of internalizing the value of nationalism through education. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential for opening border areas to social development in the field of education. The results of this study indicate that the sense of nationalism of the citizens of the nation in Temajuk Village is still well maintained, although the attention of the government in the regions and the center of power is still very lacking. This is evidently the various problems that exist in the border areas. Then this is inversely proportional to the "luxury" enjoyed by the residents of Sarawak-Malaysia which is displayed in front of the eyes of the residents of Temajuk Village. The process of internalization of nationalism is more dominantly carried out through educational institutions, both material enrichment of the pillars of nationality in the co-curricular and extracurricular learning processes, although educational services with adequate facilities, as well as good quality educators, strengthening social nationalism will actually have an impact on the pawning of the nationalism spirit of border communities if this is not a serious concern for the government.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic responses of Islamic educational institutions—particularly pesantren and madrasah—to the socio-political structures imposed by Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative historical-analytical methodology, the research draws on primary archival sources and secondary historiographical literature to explore how Islamic education functioned as a site of resistance and adaptation. The findings reveal four dominant themes: first, the modernization of Islamic education as a form of intellectual resistance, wherein reformist organizations like Muhammadiyah integrated secular subjects and structured pedagogies to cultivate an intellectually competitive Muslim generation; second, the consolidation of traditional institutions as cultural fortresses, as seen in Nahdlatul Ulama’s efforts to strengthen pesantren and preserve religious orthodoxy; third, the mobilization of women through education, particularly through the efforts of ‘Aisyiyah, as a strategy for moral reform and national identity formation; and fourth, the internalization of nationalist values through character education, positioning pesantren and madrasah as crucibles of civic responsibility and anti-colonial consciousness. These findings underscore that Islamic education during the colonial period was not merely a religious endeavor but a multidimensional force for cultural resilience and political mobilization. Theoretically, the study contributes to the discourse on education as a nonviolent strategy of resistance under colonialism, while practically offering insights for contemporary education policy in Indonesia. However, the study is limited by its reliance on secondary sources, which may overlook local variations and grassroots dynamics. Further research incorporating oral histories and archival case studies is recommended to enrich our understanding of the lived experiences and post-colonial legacies of these institutions.
