Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the thermal and hydrodynamic characteristics of air flowing in tubes with various inserts of grooved plate. Inserts of grooved plate with a variety of attack angles (a = 0°, 45° and 90°) has been studied in laminar and turbulent flow. Plate inserts are installed inside the tube intended to improve the heat transfer due to the mixing of the fluid. Numerical simulation of three-dimensional flow set as a model in the direction of fluid flow. The working fluid in the tube is cold, whereas hot wall temperature is kept constant. The results showed that the grooved plate inserts increases the heat transfer in the tube. For laminar flow, the highest heat transfer enhancement is obtained at the grooved plate inserts α = 45° i.e. from 4.46 to 20.34% with an increase in friction factor of 172.19 to 204.36%. As for the turbulent flow, the highest heat transfer improvement is found in a grooved plate inserts with α = 45° i.e. from 38.67 to 56.1% with an increase in friction factor of 183.5 to 262.29%.

Abstract

Fluent is one of the commercial software of computational fluid dynamics using a finite volume of discritization method.This method devides a domain of model becoming several small finite volumes. This software may be used to predict the fluid flow, heat transfer, chemical reaction and other fluids phenomena. In the recent study, the Fluent is used as a tool to predict the characteristics of air and partial exhaust gas mixtures in an intake manifold of diesel engine.In this modeling, the observed mixtures characteristics are the fluid flow and temperature distributions. The type of fluid flowing in the intake manifold of EGR is a turbulent flow. Fluent serves some turbulence models which are k-ε, k-ω and Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) models. Each turbulence model has a different characteristics. It is important, therefore, to know the appropriate turbulence model type for investigating the fluid flow mixtures phenomena in the intake manifold. The fluids flowing into this intake manifold are varied based on the percentage of opening valve EGR, opening load valve and diesel engine speeds. The study shows that the k-ε turbulence model is the best model than the other models. This turbulence model has small error with the experimental results for several the opening load valves in which for opening load valve of 0% (0.374% error), 50% (0,495% error), 75% (0,444% error) dan 100% (0,505% error). However, the k- turbulence model has the smallest error (0.381%) at the opening load valve of 25%.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the profile error and the difference in form errors in completing the matter of review of gender on the material vibration in SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Hulu. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The study sample were 32 students were taken using simple random sampling technique. Data collection tool in this research is test. From the analysis of data obtained by the profile error experienced by students that is the fault of the concept, systematic error and random error. The difference forms the error between the men with the percentage of on errors the concept of 32.5 %, a systematic error of 11.25 % and random errors 13,75 %. women with a percentage of that error the concept of 23,75 %, a systematic error of 11.25 % and random error of 11.25 %.Keywords: error analysis, Gender, vibration

Abstract

The problem in this study is the alleged low level of the physical condition of the athletes in West Sumatra water polo. This research is a descriptive study, which aims to determine the level of ability of the athletes' physical condition West Sumatra water polo. The sampling technique was carried out by total sampling, where the entire population of all male athletes of the West Sumatra Water Polo who were still actively practicing in the Padang lotus swimming pool aged 20-27 years with a total of 20 people were sampled. Data were collected by means of tests and measurements on each element of the athlete's physical condition. Aerobic endurance is measured by a bleep test, leg muscle power is measured by a vertical power jump test, arm muscle power is measured by two hand medicine ball-push, speed is measured by a 30-meter sprint test, shuttle run agility (4x5 meters) , and eye-hand coordination was measured by a wall pass test. Data analysis was performed using descriptive analysis techniques through statistics (frequency tabulation). From the data analysis, it can be concluded that the best level of physical condition ability of West Sumatra water polo athletes is eye-hand coordination. Meanwhile, the lowest level of physical condition for water polo athletes in West Sumatra is agility. Therefore, the ability to be in physical condition needs to be improved through well-programmed training.

Abstract

The increase in vehicle volume causes an increase in the use of gasoline fuel and air pollution. Therefore, alternative fuels such as butanol are one of the solutions to overcome this problem. Butanol has a high octane value and oxygen content so that the combustion process is more perfect and reduces exhaust emissions. The use of butanol is expected to improve engine performance and reduce exhaust emissions. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of butanol on gasoline engines with the EGR system on Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC), Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE), and exhaust emissions. Testing uses a Toyota Kijang 7K gasoline engine with an EFI fuel system. The percentage of butanol used is 5%, 10%, 15% in the condition without EGR, hot EGR, and cold EGR. The test is carried out at a fixed engine rotation speed of 2500 rpm. Retrieval of engine performance data using a dynamometer while the exhaust emissions using the GA analyzer. The test results showed the addition of butanol increased the BSFC value by 0.9% and BTE by 2%. However, a decrease occurred in CO emissions by 74.2% and HC by 33.6% compared to pure premium. The use of hot EGR decreased BSFC by 19.3% and BTE by 23.9%. The highest CO emissions were 3.23% while the highest HC emissions of 259 ppm occurred in the use of cold EGR.Keywords : butanol, EGR, BSFC, BTE, exhaust gas emissions

Abstract

Schools are places where education is carried out for the purpose of national education. However, not all schools can achieve the expected goals. Like a school that has a priority in certain subjects. One of them is Madrasah Tsanawiyah which dominates subjects with religion. So the importance of this research is aimed at knowing the differences and the relationship between the interests and skills of students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah 4, 5 and 7 Batang Hari in mathematics lessons with flat side space material. This study uses quantitative methods with associative and comparative types. The sampling technique used in this study used simple random sampling. From the results of the T test and the correlation obtained, there are significant differences and relationships between students' interests and skills in learning mathematics with flat side space material. In this case it is proven by a significant value < 0.05 .

Abstract

Learning mathematics is a basic material that has been taught since elementary school. However, mathematics is one material that is not liked by the majority of students. In addition to being less attractive, elementary school students also tend to have value gaps among their peers. This indicates a lack of cooperation that is applied in learning mathematics. Therefore, the authors conducted research related to traditional games that were implemented in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship and influence of the character of cooperation with students' responses by using traditional games in learning, it is hoped that students are more interested in learning the material, and also traditional games can foster the character of cooperation in students. This type of research uses quantitative methods with the type of comparative research. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is random sampling. The research subjects in this study were 120 students at SD IT Ash-Shidiiqi, SD Islam As'ad, and SDN 220/IV Telanaipura Jambi City. The results obtained are SDN 220/IV Telanaipura has a higher percentage than SD IT Ash-Shidiiqi, SD Islam As'ad so that SDN 220/IV Telanaipura has an advantage in the character of cooperation. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship and influence of the character of cooperation with student responses.

Abstract

Fin and tube heat exchangers use gas as a cooling/heating medium on the fin side. The low thermal conductivity of gases results in high thermal resistance, which results in a low rate of heat transfer. Therefore, the researchers sought to reduce thermal resistance on the fin side. This study aims to increase heat transfer by reducing thermal resistance using a longitudinal vortex generator. However, the use of vortex generators will increase the pressure drop. Perforated vortex generators were investigated in this study to overcome this problem. Concave rectangular winglet vortex generator at an angle of attack of 30° with variations of without hole, one, two, and three holes were studied. In this experiment, the number of pairs of vortex generators was varied from one to three pairs. A plate on which the vortex generator is mounted is heated at a heat rate of 35 W. Air enters the channel through the straightener at variations in the velocity of 0.4 m/s to 2 m/s at intervals of 0.2 m/s. The results showed that the value of the convection heat transfer coefficient for the use of perforated concave rectangular winglet vortex generators was 85.4% higher than the baseline. This value is 13.7% higher than the use of perforated rectangular winglet vortex generators. Whereas the value of pressure drop for the use of perforated concave rectangular winglet vortex generators is five times higher than that of the baseline. This value is 104.9% higher than the use of perforated rectangular winglet vortex generators.

Abstract

The problem that often occurs in the learning process is the low student learning outcomes. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is to apply an innovative learning model. One of the learning models that can be implemented in the learning process is the cooperative learning model. This study aims to analyze student responses to the process skills of the jigsaw and STAD learning models in mathematics. This study is research with a quantitative approach and uses a comparative method. The data collection process was carried out using the observation method, with 144 elementary school students as respondents. The data analysis process was carried out descriptively using the SPSS 25.0 application. The results showed that the student's response to the process skills of the learning model in mathematics learning was quite good, judging from the comparison of each student's data between the jigsaw and STAD learning models. So, it can be concluded that there is a relationship and comparison of the two learning models applied in schools. The results of this study are expected to contribute ideas for knowledge and education as well as provide an overview of the learning model and teaching process skills in mathematics subjects.

Abstract

Curling phenomenon on rapid prototyping (RP) product is an actual problem which has not been solved clearly, also on MMD-Is product. Previous experiment showed, it was caused dominantly by un-uniformity of temperature distribution in build part system when sintering was executed. Differ to the sintering process in the common commercial RP process, sintering process in MMD-Is is conducted in supporting powder media. The research is aimed to observe the effect of supporting powder materials, particle size and configuration of heater system on temperature distribution of the build part. Temperature distribution was measured by immersing thermocouples into supporting powder in vertical and horizontal formation. The experimental results show that the un-uniformity of the build part temperature is caused by secondary heating phenomenon by piston material at base position.
