Abstract

This study examined the direct and indirect effects of emotional intelligence and independent learning on science learning outcomes through learning motivation among public junior high school students in Kendari. The study employed a quantitative ex post facto design. The population consisted of all public junior high school students in Kendari City during the 2025/2026 academic year. A sample of 194 eighth-grade students from six public junior high schools was selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence, independent learning, and learning motivation, while science learning outcomes were obtained from end-of-semester summative assessment scores. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis. The descriptive findings showed that students’ emotional intelligence, independent learning, and learning motivation were generally at a moderate level, whereas science learning outcomes were categorized as high. Path analysis revealed that emotional intelligence did not significantly affect learning motivation (p = 0.113). In contrast, independent learning had a significant positive effect on learning motivation (β = 0.766). Regarding science learning outcomes, neither emotional intelligence (β = −0.027) nor independent learning (β = 0.129) showed significant direct effects. However, learning motivation significantly influenced science learning outcomes (β = 0.352). The indirect effect of emotional intelligence on learning outcomes through motivation was 0.040, while the indirect effect of independent learning through motivation was 0.270. These results indicate that learning motivation plays a key mediating role in enhancing science achievement. Overall, independent learning and learning motivation contribute more substantially to students’ science learning outcomes than emotional intelligence among public junior high school students in Kendari.

Abstract

This study analyzes the levels of discipline, learning motivation, and science achievement among state junior high school students in Luwu Regency, as well as their relationships both partially and simultaneously. The research uses a quantitative non-experimental design with a correlational survey approach, involving 125 students selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed with descriptive statistics and linear regression. The results show that discipline (79.89), learning motivation (148.38), and science achievement (75.62) are all in the moderate category. Inferential analysis indicates that discipline has a positive and significant effect on science achievement (57.20%), while learning motivation has a stronger contribution (72.70%). Simultaneously, both variables contribute 78.50% to science achievement. In conclusion, discipline and learning motivation significantly influence science learning outcomes. Improving both in a balanced and integrated way is essential to achieve optimal student performance.

Abstract

The skin is the main protection of the body that is susceptible to wounds, so it requires effective treatment both medically and traditionally to restore its normal function. One potential plant is kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata) which contains phenol compounds, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and essential oils as anti inflammatory. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of giving kirinyuh leaf extract ointment with concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25% on the healing process of incision wounds in mice (Mus musculus). The research methods used are laboratory experiments which include the stage of making extracts, phytochemical screening, making concentration variations, testing antibacterial activity, making ointment preparations with hydrocarbon base, physical testing of ointments, and effectiveness tests on test animals. The results of the study showed that the administration of kirinyuh leaf extract ointment had a significant influence on the healing of cut wounds in mice. The 20% concentration was found to be the most effective dose in pharmacological studies, while the 25% concentration was the most effective dose in achieving the highest perfect wound closure on day 9.

Abstract

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is an independence in learning that must be promoted in order that students do not only rely solely on the information provided by lecturers. While, Self efficacy is a belief and hope regarding the ability of individuals to deal with their duties. Both can can be promoted by implementing appropriate learning strategies. One of the learnings strategies that can be implemented is the blended learning strategy. Accordingly, this research is conducted to assess the relationship between self regulated learning and student self-efficacy in the Department of Biology. The population in this study was all students of the Department of Biology in 2019 consisting of 158 people. The sample was taken by simple random sampling consisting of 39 people. The instrument used was a self regulated learning questionnaire consisting of 30 items, and a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 18 items. The research data was analyzed product moment correlation. The results obtained by value r = 0.619 with a significance value of p = 0.000 smaller than α = 0.05. Thus,it was concluded there was a relationship between self regulated learning and student self-efficacy in Basic Biology Class. From the results of the study, students' self-regulated learning and self-efficacy should be developed in learning.
