Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of ADLX (Adaptive Learning Experience) on the mathematics learning outcomes of grade XI high school students by considering learning motivation. Using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design, this study involved several 11th grade high school students in X City who were divided into two groups: an experimental group using ADLX and a control group using conventional methods. The research instruments include mathematics learning outcome tests and learning motivation questionnaires validated by experts. The data were analyzed using the variance analysis technique (ANOVA) to test the hypothesis. The results showed significant differences in mathematics learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group using ADLX showing better results. The data analysis also revealed that learning motivation interacted significantly with ADLX use, suggesting students with high learning motivation benefited more from ADLX use than students with low learning motivation. In general, students report that their learning motivation is influenced by the material's relevance to their daily lives and interactive and engaging teaching approaches. The use of ADLX, which involves hands-on experience and real-life examples, is considered effective in increasing understanding and motivation for learning math. This shows that the contextual learning approach is to improve students' understanding of mathematics. The conclusion of this study is that the use of ADLX can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of high school students in grade XI, especially for students with high learning motivation. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating adaptive technology in learning and the need for strategies to increase student learning motivation to achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

Geometry thinking ability is the ability of students in terms of observing objects, building definitions based on the characteristics inherent in the object, recognizing the relationship between one object with other objects, and applying it in solving geometry problems. However, the ability to think geometry students are still low. This is because students are still dependent on lecturers in receiving information and learning that occurs in the classroom has not facilitated the ability to think geometry, especially geometry transformation. For this reason, a student activity sheet based on Discovery- Contextual Learning based on van hiele theory was developed which is effective in improving the geometry thinking ability of mathematics education students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sungai Penuh. The subjects of this study were 5th semester students of mathematics education. The development model used is adapted from the Plomp model. There are three stages in this model, namely preliminary research, prototype phase, and assessment. This study focused on seeing the effectiveness of the product at the assessment stage. The assessment phase was carried out on a field test consisting of 13 students for 9 meetings. The syntax of this learning model includes: 1) Stimulation, 2) Constructivism, 3) Problem Statement, 4) Data Collection, 5) Learning Community, 6) Modeling, 7) Data Processing, 8) Verification, 9) Reflection, and 10) Authentic Assessment.

Abstract

This study examines the association between students’ learning interest and their mathematical problem-solving ability in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. The research employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational design involving 33 seventh-grade students at MTs Negeri 1 Merangin. Learning interest was measured using a Likert-scale questionnaire, and students were categorized into high, moderate, and low interest groups based on mean and standard deviation scores. Problem-solving ability was assessed through three HOTS items representing Bloom’s cognitive levels C4 (analysis), C5 (evaluation), and C6 (creation), evaluated using Polya’s problem-solving indicators. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and comparative analysis across interest categories. The results indicate that students with higher learning interest achieved better performance in problem-solving tasks. However, students’ performance was also influenced by the cognitive complexity of the HOTS items. The findings suggest that learning interest contributes positively to mathematical problem-solving ability.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing digital technology-based learning models in improving students' mathematical abilities in higher Education through systematic literature review. Mathematical skills are an essential competency needed by students in facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. However, data shows that students' mathematical achievement in various countries is still low. This study uses the systematic literature review method with the PRISMA protocol to identify, evaluate, and synthesize 47 research articles from Scopus and Sinta-indexed journals during 2018-2024. The analysis results showed that implementing digital technology-based learning, such as mobile application-assisted learning, adaptive learning systems, augmented reality, and game-based learning, could improve students' mathematical skills with an average effect size of 0.78 (strong influence). Significant findings indicate that personalized learning through adaptive technology substantially improves mathematical problem-solving capabilities. In contrast, immersive technologies such as AR/VR effectively improve conceptual understanding of multivariable geometry and calculus materials. This research contributes in the form of a comprehensive mapping of various digital learning models and their optimal implementation contexts, as well as identifying opportunities for integrating big data and artificial intelligence in creating an adaptive mathematical learning ecosystem. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of implementing digital technologies and develop a pedagogical framework that optimizes the synergy between technology and constructivist approaches in mathematical learning in higher Education. Abstract

This research is motivated by the learning difficulties experienced by students with dyscalculia in mathematics, particularly in understanding numerical concepts and performing basic arithmetic operations. This study aims to develop an ethnomathematics-based cognitive assessment model using the traditional congklak game and question cards to assess students' cognitive abilities in learning mathematics. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research participants were six seventh-grade students with dyscalculia identified through a screening test. The developed model was tested with content validity and reliability tests. Content validity was validated by two experts, namely a subject matter expert and a media design expert, to evaluate the content and feasibility of the assessment model design. The results showed that the model achieved a validity score of 96.88% from the media expert and 93.75% from the subject matter expert, indicating that the product is valid. Furthermore, the reliability test using Inter-Rater Reliability (ICC) produced a value of 0.892, indicating very high reliability. These findings suggest that an ethnomathematics-based cognitive assessment model can be used as an alternative tool to assess the cognitive abilities of students with dyscalculia in adding and subtracting integers through culturally relevant learning activities. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in mathematics learning on plane geometry material for second grade elementary school students and to describe students’ understanding after the implementation of the approach. The background of this research is the low understanding of students toward plane geometry concepts, where more than 60% of students had difficulty recognizing and distinguishing basic shapes such as squares, rectangles, and triangles. The study employed a descriptive qualitative research design. The research was conducted at SDN 19/1 Muara Tembesi with the subjects consisting of second grade students and the mathematics teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis to describe the process of implementing the contextual approach and its impact on students’ conceptual understanding. The findings show that the implementation of the CTL approach can create more meaningful learning by linking mathematical concepts with students’ real-life experiences. Through contextual activities such as observing objects in the surrounding environment, asking questions, group discussions, and reflection, students became more active and engaged in the learning process. As a result, students were able to better recognize the characteristics of plane figures and understand the concepts more concretely. Therefore, the contextual approach can be considered an effective strategy to support mathematics learning in elementary school, especially in helping students understand abstract concepts through real-life contexts.
