Abstract

Occupational safety is a crucial aspect of the manufacturing industry, especially in the weaving industry that uses shuttle machines. This study aims to identify risks and develop strategies to prevent occupational accidents in the shuttle weaving industry. The methods used include job safety analysis (JSA) and strategy formation using the IFAS and EFAS matrix to formulate the necessary solutions. The results revealed that seven types of jobs were identified as having 23 potential risks of occupational accidents. The highest risk was found in the shuttle weaving process, where the activities involved have the potential to cause physical injuries such as permanent disability due to being targeted by the weft binoculars during production. The proposed strategies include improving weaknesses by capitalising on existing strengths, implementing new technologies and safety policies to address threats, and improving compliance and incident response to reduce risks. This research is expected to contribute as a reference for the weaving industry with shuttle machines in conducting risk analysis and implementing occupational accident prevention measures.

Abstract

This ethnographic study examines how the cultural backgrounds influence stress management among Sundanese, Chinese, and Javanese officers in the Directorate General of X. Through a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were gathered via in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis to uncover the unique stress management methods employed by each cultural group. The findings demonstrate that Sundanese officers focus on work-life balance and rely on supportive social networks, guided by the values of "Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh," which emphasize care, support, and self-improvement. Chinese officers prioritize discipline, hard work, and harmony, using structured task management and involving senior colleagues in decision-making, influenced by Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist beliefs. Javanese officers rely on spirituality and empathy, following "Tepa Selira" principles, which promote understanding and respect in relationships, and include prayer and parental guidance in stress coping strategies. Despite these distinct methods, all three cultural groups emphasize the importance of support systems, in the workplace. This study suggests that understanding these cultural approaches can help organizations design culturally sensitive support systems to enhance employee well-being and performance. Future research could expand these findings by including more participants and diverse work settings to better understand culturally influenced stress management across Indonesia.

Abstract

Merger and acquisition of a banking company are generally understood as efforts to enhance the company by combining strengths or compensating for the weaknesses of one company with the strengths of another. To face the dynamics of the domestic and global economy and information technology, it is necessary to strengthen the structure, resilience, and competitiveness of the national banking industry, which can be achieved by strengthening bank capital and banking consolidation in Indonesia, especially Regional Development Banks. To promote the stability of the banking industry, particularly the strengthening of individual banks, merger and acquisition strategies in the form of banking consolidation need to be considered. Banking consolidation policies are one of the policy options regulators take to strengthen financial system stability. One of the processes that must be carried out is analyzing the performance to find companies that are suitable for acquisition, in accordance with the problem statement: How is the performance of the Regional Development Banks that become acquiring banks, and how is the performance of Regional Development Banks whose core capital does not yet meet regulatory requirements, making them suitable for acquisition. Data from 27 Regional Development Banks were analyzed based on several financial ratios, namely ROA, ROE, NIM, LDR, CAR, and NPL, and the changes in economic performance into five clusters using IBM SPSS version 27 with K-Mean Cluster Classification. The analysis showed that out of the 27 Regional Development Banks, 11 banks experienced a status increase, 10 companies experienced a decrease, and 6 did not change. It was found that the performance of 4 Regional Development Banks that would become acquiring banks is "good" and there are 3 banks, namely Bank Jambi, Bank Kalteng, and Bank Sultra, which are considered very suitable for acquisition with a status of "Very Good".

Abstract

The acquisition is one of the techniques for creating and preserving the firm's survival, especially if unforeseen circumstances occur that are averse to a company, such as in the insurance industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study examines the financial performance segmentation changes of Indonesian insurance companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on the industry. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the research employs K-Means Clustering to analyse key financial performance indicators, including Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), Return on Equity (ROE), Net Profit Margin (NPM), and Risk-Based Capital (RBC) for the periods of December 2021 and December 2022. The findings reveal significant shifts in the financial health and risk profiles of these companies, highlighting the importance of robust financial metrics in acquisition strategies. The study further investigates the financial ratios for December 2023 to assess the outcomes of recent acquisitions, such as that of PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk by Hanwha Life, and whether these acquisitions have resulted in synergistic benefits. The insights gained from this research provide valuable implications for stakeholders, including potential acquirers and regulators, by enhancing their understanding of market dynamics and informing strategic decision-making in the evolving insurance landscape of Indonesia..
