Abstract

As technology plays an increasingly significant role in education, tools like Google Translate have become widely accessible for language learning and translation. This study investigates the perceptions of second-grade students at SMAN 10 Mataram regarding the use of the Google Translate application as a tool for translating English materials. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method. This study used structured interviews based on a set of guidelines to evaluate students' perceptions of Google Translate as a tool for translating English content. A qualitative and descriptive approach was applied for data collection, with the data presented and analyzed in stages, starting with interview analysis. The interviews, incorporating questions based on the 5W + 1H framework, aimed to gather information about students' perceptions before and after using Google Translate, as well as the challenges they faced and their strategies for overcoming them. Mobile phones and note-taking were used to record and capture additional information during the interviews. The findings show that most students view Google Translate as a helpful, time-efficient, and user-friendly tool for understanding English texts. However, limitations such as inaccuracies in grammar and context were noted. Despite these issues, most students have a positive attitude towards using Google Translate as a supplementary aid in their English learning. The study concludes that while Google Translate is a valuable resource, it should be used alongside teacher guidance and other learning strategies to enhance language proficiency.

Abstract

The problem of scheduling teaching and learning activities is a problem that occurs at SMAN 1 Aikmel. The problem is that there are several teachers teaching two different subjects at the same time in different classes. This problem will be solved by applying the concept of graph coloring using an algorithm Recursive Largest First. This article presents the application of the concept of graph coloring in preparing a schedule for teaching and learning activities at SMAN 1 Aikmel. Based on the scheduling data, the adjacency matrix of the scheduling graph is obtained. By using an algorithm Recursive Largest First The chromatic number is 3. Apart from that, it is also found that the maximum number of nodes in one color is 23 nodes. This shows that schedules can be made without overlap at SMAN 1 Ailkmel which has 23 rooms.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of using English subtitles from Western child-friendly movies on students' English vocabulary. This research was experimental research and implemented a pre-test post-test group design. The sample of thsi research was the students from 9th grade students of SMP 1 Praya which consisted of 50 students. This research used observation and test as the research instruments. The result of this research showed that the independent sample t-test revealed a significance (2-tailed) value of 0.000. Since this value is less than the standard threshold of 0.05, it indicates that the difference between the mean scores of the control and experimental classes is statistically significant. This finding confirms that the observed variation in scores is unlikely to have occurred by random chance. Therefore, it can be concluded that the intervention applied to the experimental class using English subtitles in Western child-friendly movies had a substantial and measurable impact on improving students’ vocabulary proficiency compared to the traditional teaching methods employed in the control class. These findings highlight the effectiveness of using English subtitles in Western child-friendly movies as a teaching tool for improving vocabulary. The experimental class's significant improvement compared to the control class's limited progress underscores the potential of innovative methods over traditional teaching approaches in enhancing students’ English vocabulary proficiency.

Abstract

Abstract

Zakat, as a fundamental pillar of Islam, serves as a potential instrument for poverty alleviation. Among its contemporary applications is professional zakat, which remains a subject of debate due to the lack of explicit references in classical Islamic texts. This study aims to compare the perspectives of Muhammadiyah and Persatuan Islam (Persis) regarding the obligation of professional zakat and analyze the istinbath methodologies employed by both organizations. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical and comparative method. Data collection was conducted through documentary analysis, library research, and interviews with key figures from Muhammadiyah and Persis. The findings reveal that Muhammadiyah considers professional zakat obligatory, using a broad interpretation of zakat provisions and analogy with zakat on gold and silver. In contrast, Persis does not recognize professional zakat, arguing that zakat is an ibadah mahdhah that cannot be established without explicit textual evidence. Instead, Persis suggests mandatory infak on professional income without a fixed rate and nisab. These differences highlight the diversity of ijtihad and practice in Islamic social finance among muslims. However, both organizations agree on the necessity of social contributions from professional income, whether through zakat or infak
