Abstract

Language reflects the realities of human life activities. As social beings, humans require communication, which functions effectively when facilitated by language. Therefore, language influences human thought patterns. Polite language, a hallmark of Indonesian culture, has been passed down through generations, underscoring the close relationship between language and culture. Effective language expression is also supported by good literacy understanding. This study aims to explain language use in society through the Ethnography of Communication approach, emphasizing the importance of context in interpreting speech and its functions. Linguists have traditionally found it easy to explain sentences from grammatical and semantic perspectives but often struggle with the intention and functional use of speech. Ethnography of Communication seeks to address this gap by incorporating aspects of speech or communication, thus making linguistic components more comprehensive. The research method used was a literature study, with library materials serving as the primary data source. The findings indicate that language was structured according to patterns, not randomly, but within subsystems such as phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. These patterns correspond to the needs and functions of each societal group. Ethnography of Communication examines the communication patterns of a community or cultural society, highlighting the role of language in the communicative behaviour of a society and how language was used within different cultures.

Abstract

Avicenna (Ibn Sina) was a medieval Islamic philosopher who developed numerous theories, especially those related to education. Many educational institutions have long relied on Avicenna's ideas about the goal of education, but the evolution of education, especially Islamic education, has changed in tandem with improvements in technology and knowledge in society. As a result, the purpose of this study is to examine the relevance of Ibn Sina's educational ideas to modern Islamic education through a case study of the Al-Rifa'ie 2 modern boarding school. This study employs a qualitative descriptive technique, with data gathered by document analysis, interviews, and observations. The findings of this study revealed that Avicenna's beliefs on the aim of education in developing students' potential so that they have perfect reason and noble morals are still highly relevant at the Al-Rifa'ie 2 modern boarding school today. Despite this, numerous methods, equipment, and technology utilized in education continue to evolve in response to new advances. Avicenna's Islamic education remains a source of inspiration for many institutions today. This study has ramifications for how modern Islamic education adapts to change while maintaining the values of Avicenna's teachings.

Abstract

The nonlinear mathematical model of the Break Even Point (BEP) problem is difficult to solve analytically to obtain an exact solution; therefore, numerical methods can serve as an alternative approach to address this issue. Based on this, the present study aims to develop a PHP program for solving the BEP problem and to compare Steffensen’s and Brent’s methods in terms of error and number of iterations. This research used the experimental method, whose implementation procedures include preparation, PHP program development, program testing, program revision, analysis, and conclusion. The PHP-based program developed in this study can serve as an alternative tool for solving BEP problems and is accessible to both practitioners and academics via the following link: https://lpptp.fkip.unram.ac.id/smhs/e1r021001/index.php. In solving the BEP problem, the error of Steffensen’s method was 17,3 x 10-8, while the error of Brent’s method was 6,4 x 10-8, therefore the error produced by the Brent’s method is smaller than that of the Steffensen’s method because 6,4 x 10-8 < 17,3 x 10-8. Additionally, the number of iterations required by Steffensen’s method was 109, whereas the number of iterations of Brent’s method was 56, therefore, the number of iterations of Brent’s method is fewer than that of Steffensen’s method because 56 < 109. Consequently, it can be concluded that Brent’s method is more effective than Steffensen’s method in solving BEP problems in terms of both error and number of iterations.

Abstract

This study employs a bibliometric approach to analyze the evolution of literature on artificial intelligence (AI) and work transformation, aiming to map the knowledge structure and research trends in this field. While existing studies have predominantly focused on the technical dimensions of AI, significant gaps remain regarding social perspectives, particularly in developing country contexts. Our analysis addresses this limitation by systematically examining 718 Scopus-indexed documents (2014-2024) using VOSviewer for network visualization through bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis. The results reveal a marked increase in publications post-2018, driven by technological advancements and sociological debates on automation. Co-citation analysis identifies six thematic clusters, including AI's labor impact, ethical considerations, and human-AI collaboration, while bibliographic coupling highlights sector-specific applications in healthcare and manufacturing, alongside persistent challenges such as skill gaps. Notably, the findings underscore the Western-centric nature of current discourse, calling for more inclusive research in Global South contexts. The study contributes to policy discussions by emphasizing the need for adaptive regulatory frameworks, reskilling initiatives, and micro-credential-based education systems. Although limited to Scopus-indexed literature, this research provides valuable insights for shaping future academic inquiry and evidence-based policymaking in the era of digital transformation.
