Abstract

This study explores the impact of constructivist teaching strategies and analytical literacy on students' critical thinking skills among Islamic higher education students. A quantitative approach with an experimental research design was used, where data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring three variables: constructivist strategy, analytical literacy, and critical thinking. The sample comprised 60 students from the English Education Program at IAIN Curup, selected using total sampling from three classes during the even semester 2025. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that both constructivist strategy and analytical literacy significantly influenced critical thinking, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.538, indicating that these two variables could explain 53.8% of the variance in critical thinking. The F-test showed a significant joint effect (F = 33.142, p < 0.05), while the t-test indicated that analytical literacy had a stronger individual impact (t = 4.588, p < 0.05) compared to the constructivist strategy (t = 1.807, p = 0.076).

Abstract

Mathematical problems frequently arise in various scientific fields, particularly in determining the roots of nonlinear functions. Since complex nonlinear functions are often difficult to solve analytically, numerical methods are commonly used as an alternative approach. This article aims to compare the number of iterations and the error levels produced by the Newton-Raphson and Steffensen methods. The tests were conducted on three types of functions, polynomial functions of the form a1xn+a2xn-1+...+amx0, exponential functions of the form aebx+d+t and trigonometric functions of the form a0sin(b0x)+a1cos(b1x)+a2. For each type, three different functions were used, and each was tested with three different initial guesses. The results show that, in terms of iteration count, the Newton-Raphson method outperformed the Steffensen method for polynomial and trigonometric functions by 84% and 62%, respectively, while for exponential functions, the Steffensen method was superior by 12%. In terms of error, the Newton-Raphson method yielded smaller errors across all function types, with improvements of 92%, 84%, and 98% for polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric functions, respectively, compared to the Steffensen method.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand how students of the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu (UMB) express their identity through dressing on TikTok. In this digital age, social media platforms have become an important means for people to express themselves, their identity, as well as their social values. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving five active FAI-UMB students who frequently visit content on TikTok. Data sources were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study show that the way FAI-UMB students dress on TikTok not only reflects their academic and religious identities, but is also influenced by fashion trends and personal desires. This identity can be seen from the choice of colors, clothing models, and uploaded content that combines Islamic values with innovative visual representations. This research draws on the theory of symbolic interactionism, which explains how individuals display identity through social interaction and the use of symbols, such as clothing. For example, clothing can serve as a medium of identity communication to create meaning. In conclusion, TikTok serves as a strategic platform for FAI-UMB students to form and express a complex identity, which is a combination of religious values, pop culture, and personal desire to be seen.

Abstract

Hadith is one of the main sources of Islamic law that has high authority after the Qur'an. However, in their application, there are traditions that appear to be contradictory, thus requiring a special approach in understanding and resolving the differences. This study examines the mukhtalif traditions related to the prohibition and permissibility of facing or facing away from the Qibla when relieving oneself, using the descriptive analytical method to examine the text and context aspects of the traditions. The results show that the differences in the traditions can be resolved by the method of al-jam'u wa al-taufiq (harmonizing the arguments). The prohibition of facing or turning away from the Qibla applies to open places, such as the desert, as a form of respect for the Qibla. Conversely, the permissibility applies in closed places, such as latrines or toilets, which are considered not intended for prayer. This finding confirms that there is no substantial contradiction in these traditions if they are understood contextually and in accordance with the principles of Shari'a.

Abstract

Indonesia's educational landscape has undergone significant transformation through Kurikulum Merdeka implementation, yet comparative understanding of educator perspectives across different subjects remains limited. This research investigates comparative perspectives of educators regarding Kurikulum Merdeka implementation across five distinct academic disciplines in Indonesian educational institutions. Employing a qualitative-descriptive methodology, this study examines teacher experiences through comprehensive analysis of peer-reviewed scholarly articles focusing on educator experiences in Mathematics, Indonesian Language, Biology, Islamic Religious Education, and English language instruction. Research findings demonstrate predominantly favorable educator responses (75-80% positive across subjects), particularly appreciating the curriculum's adaptability, learner-focused methodology, and integration of twenty-first-century competencies. However, significant obstacles emerged including extensive preparation requirements, insufficient educational resources, inadequate professional development, and inconsistent educator preparedness levels. These implementation barriers significantly impact comprehensive curriculum adoption and necessitate focused improvements in professional training and resource distribution, with contextualizing approaches to accommodate diverse subject-specific requirements.
