Abstract

Arabic teachers have a negative attitude toward translanguaging in the process of learning Arabic. But in fact, they use other languages than Arabic in their teaching. This condition prompts to reveal translanguaging in Arabic language classes. The aim of this study was to explore the patterns of translanguaging in the process of learning Arabic and to reveal the reasons the teachers used it. Case study methods selected for data collection. The result is that translanguaging has a different pattern in each skill taught through input-process-output. On the fourth input process the skill remains using Arabic, whereas for learning nahwu the input process used Indonesian. The learning process of listening and writing skills remains with Arabic; reading skill, speaking skill and nahwu used Indonesia. They use translanguaging in the learning process to ensure students' understanding of content, build communication and to promote their metalinguistic awareness in the Arabic language learning process.

Abstract

Al-Qiro'ah al-Rosyidah textbook studied by beginner santri (a term for students admitted to study in Islamic boarding schools) in several Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia is due to its simple vocabulary and easy-to-understand word structure character values that are in line with Islamic values. From the textbook, al-Qiro'ah al-Rosyidah, children and adolescents can learn aspects of language and understand the values and norms implied in each text title. This paper aims to explore the character values containedin the textbook al-Qiro'ah al-Rosyidah. The activities described in the book indicate past activities such as farming, gardening, anchoring, etc. which are different from the present conditions. Therefore,it needs contextualization with value activities in the present. This paper is employing descriptive qualitative research with a literature study approach, namely extracting from a textbook. Data collection was carried out through reading and recording, which were then followed by mapping and classification. Critical discourse analysis techniques are used in analyzing the data in this paper. This paper concludes that the textbook al-Qiro'ah al-Rosyidah contains character values that follow Islamic norms, which are reflected in society's life in the past. These values are in the form of patience, trustworthiness, sincerity, responsibility, help, cooperation, respect for others, etc. This study suggests analyzing the same book as a whole for volumes 1, 2, and 3 so that the values extracted are more diverse according to the varied descriptions of past experiences.

Abstract

This research is based on the argument that vocabulary learning is a fundamental requirement in various aspects of second language teaching and is an essential prerequisite for language learners. It is clear that sufficient mastery of vocabulary is crucial for effective language acquisition. Therefore, its learning necessitates the application of a method that creates a learning environment facilitating intensive and interactive student engagement with vocabulary. The objective of this study is to investigate the implementation of singing as a method for vocabulary learning in Arabic language education at Al-Ghaffaar Islamic Elementary School, along with its strengths and weaknesses. This research is a field study conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation methods. Data analysis employed the author uses the analysis technique proposed by Miles and Huberman, namely flow model. The analysis begins with the stage of reducing the data, followed by the stage of presenting the data (data display) and then the researcher draws conclusions. The findings indicate that singing can be an effective alternative method for teaching Arabic vocabulary. This method provides an exciting, enjoyable, fun and interactive learning experience for students. The learning stages are divided into three stages, namely: pre-learning activities or initial learning activities, core learning activities and final learning activities. These three stages are carried out systematically, effectively and efficiently. According to the evaluation results, students not only memorize vocabulary quickly but also demonstrate the ability to apply Arabic vocabulary across the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Abstract

Storytelling is a learning method that provides stimulation for students to interact through stories. The research aims to analyze the implementation, advantages and disadvantages, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors of storytelling as a maharah kalam learning method at MA Muallimin Al-Huda Jombang. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the type of field research. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses the analytical techniques of Mattew B. Milless and A. Michael Hubermen, including data correction, data reduction, data presentation, and verification or drawing conclusions. The research results show that storytelling is effective and efficient in improving the quality of students' maharah kalam learning. The advantages of this method include increasing motivation, interaction, cooperation, self-confidence, making stories more lively, making it easier to understand the material, and enriching vocabulary. However, the drawback is that if the teacher is less expressive, students can lose focus, get bored or sleepy. Supporting factors for this method are teacher enthusiasm, interesting stories, the teacher's ability to present stories, adequate learning resources, a conducive environment, and sufficient facilities and infrastructure. Inhibiting factors include limited time, teachers' difficulties in conveying interesting stories, students' lack of ability to read texts, students' lack of attention, and differences in students' levels of understanding.

Abstract

Arabic being one of the oldest languages in the world, has made significant contributions to other languages including Indonesian. Some Indonesian vocabulary along with its development has been adopted from Arabic. This paper not only aims to map the absorption words in various categories, but also to analyze the factors of Arabic absorption into Indonesian. Descriptive qualitative method is used to explore the data in the text. The data is analyzed in four stages: data reduction, data display, data verification, and conclusion drawing. This study shows that the adoption of Arabic into Indonesian tends to be on words related to Islam, which relate to function, morality, death, and the occult. The language absorption cannot be separated from the history of Islam in Indonesia as the language of Islam (Arabic) colors Indonesian culture. Further research can sharpen the semantic analysis because the absorbed words experience reduction and degradation of meaning.
