Abstract

This study aimed to enhance social studies education for eighth graders through the development of an interactive multimedia tool based on PowerPoint. The Research and Development (R&D) method was utilized following the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), although only the first three stages were completed in this study. The Analysis stage included identifying problems and needs as a guide for development. The Design stage involved creating flowcharts, storyboards, collecting necessary materials, and designing assessment instruments. The Development stage encompassed the creation of the interactive multimedia based on PowerPoint. A questionnaire, validated by media, material, and social studies experts, was used to evaluate the product. The experts rated the multimedia at 81.66%, 100%, and 92.94%, respectively, yielding an average rating of 91.53% and a decision of "Very feasible."

Abstract

Setiap suku tentunya memiliki kearifan lokal tersendiri seperti suku Chinese atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai suku Tionghoa yang banyak bermukim di daerah perkotaan, seperti di Kota Singkawang. Suku Tionghoa khususnya kelompok hakka memiliki banyak kebudayaan sebagai bentuk kearifan lokal salah satunya upacara kematian. Seiring perkembangan zaman, banyak orang suku hakka tidak melaksanakan upacara kematian ini atau hanya melakukan sebagian tahapan saja dikarenakan kekurangan biaya. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, peneliti terdorong untuk meneliti tentang bagaimana tahapan upacara kematian orang suku hakka secara lengkap serta nilai yang terkandung di setiap tahapannya. Artikel ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan metode pengambilan data observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukan bahwa dalam budaya kematian, upacara penghormatan dilakukan sebagai bentuk bakti dan kasih sayang terakhir bagi orang yang meninggal. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa dalam budaya kematian, nilai berbakti dan hormat kepada orang tua sangat penting. Hal ini terlihat dalam pelaksanaan upacara kematian yang dilakukan oleh anak-anak sebagai bentuk bukti dari rasa bakti dan penghormatan kepada orang tua yang sudah merawat mereka, meskipun pelaksanaannya memerlukan proses yang panjang dan membutuhkan biaya yang besar.

Abstract

Storytelling techniques serve as dynamic tools for enhancing language skills, encompassing both receptive (listening, reading) and productive (speaking, writing) proficiencies. In contrast to their non-narrative counterparts, these techniques offer a more potent array of teaching methodologies. This study aims to elucidate the current landscape of research concerning the efficacy of storytelling techniques. Initially, the investigation delves into the cognitive processing of narratives. Stories engage language processing centers, invigorate the visual cortex, evoke emotive responses, and facilitate comprehension of intricate information. Subsequently, the study explores linguistic processing theory and embodied cognition theory. Through an exhaustive literature review, this research applies a rigorous evidence synthesis method to assess selected studies, culminating in the amalgamation of findings when comparability permits. The study unveils that storytelling techniques foster reading and listening comprehension, bolster speaking and writing skills, and kindle creativity and imagination. Moreover, enhancements span vocabulary, grammar, and syntax. Nonetheless, while generally efficacious, the uniformity of effectiveness across diverse learners remains a nuanced aspect.

Abstract

The West Kalimantan Museum stores and exhibits a collection of items with historical, scientific, artistic, and cultural significance, primarily originating from West Kalimantan Province. It is crucial for social science educators and students in West Kalimantan to comprehend the significance of visiting the museum in person. This allows them to directly witness and study historical and cultural artifacts of West Kalimantan, thereby reinforcing the knowledge they acquire from books. Hence, social science education lecturers of Tanjungpura University organized a community service program known as "Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat" (abbreviated as PKM) that invited both social science teachers and students of Pontianak to local museums for a visit. The objectives of this training encompassed two main goals. Firstly, it aimed to generate interest among teachers and students in discovering and familiarizing themselves with the museum. Secondly, it sought to enhance the knowledge of teachers and students regarding the conservation of the museum's collections. Following the training, the lecturers gathered feedback from participants via a Google form to assess their opinions regarding the museum collection and artifact preservation training. This data was then analyzed using a quantitative approach, and the results were presented using descriptive statistics. A total of 19 individuals responded to the survey, consisting of 7 teachers and 12 students. The results indicated that the participants had a positive response to the activity and expressed a request for similar programs to be conducted in the future.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan terhadap25 orang guru IPS yang tergabung dalam FOGIPSI wilayah Kalimantan Barat, dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pendampingan Pembuatan Ebook  pembelajaran IPS Menggunakan Aplikasi Flipbook.  Adapun tujuan dari pelaksanaan Pengabdian ini adalah agar guru dapat mengetahui fungsi fitur dalam aplikasi flipbook, mengetahui urutan tahapan  pembuatan ebook IPS dengan aplikasi flipbook, dan dapat mengetahui cara mengaitkan audio, gambar dan video dalam ebook IPS  dengan aplikasi flipbook. Metode yang diterapkan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini mencakup persiapan, sosialiasi terhadap partisipan, pelatihan dan demonstrasi, praktek, dan presentasi. Adapun hasil dari Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah 1). Peserta yang merupakan guru IPS mampu mengenali fungsi fitur dari aplikasi Flipbook; 2) para guru mampu memahami urutan tahapan dari pembuatan e-book IPS dengan aplikasi Flipbook; dan para guru tersebut mampu untuk mengaitkan suara dan gambar pada e-book yang telah dibuat.

Abstract

Adaptive instruction is a promising solution to the limitations of traditional classroom instruction, which assumes that all students learn in the same way and at the same pace. Adaptive instruction tailors the learning experience to each student’s needs and abilities. Several adaptive instruction tools and platforms exist, including intelligent tutoring systems, learning management systems, mobile apps, AI chatbots, and adaptive machine-learning programs. The Adaptive Instruction of Student Control Theoretical Framework suggests that allowing students to control their use of learning resources leads to better learning outcomes. Implementing adaptive instruction in higher education can be difficult due to faculty buy-in, technical infrastructure, and student motivation. Effective instructional design is crucial for adaptive instruction to support student control and maximize benefits. Overall, instructors must pay attention to student motivation and work to create learning environments that foster motivation, autonomy, and engagement to implement adaptive instruction successfully.

Abstract

Multikultural merupakan sebuah keberagaman budaya, yang mempunyai karakteristik berbeda dan mengakui adanya perbedaan. Dengan adanya multikultural, dapat menciptakan toleransi sosial. Toleransi sosial adalah tindakan yang melarang terjadinya diskriminasi terhadap kelompok lain, yang ada di lingkungan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengetahui penanaman nilai multikultural dalam mengambangkan sikap toleransi peserta didik yang dilakukan oleh pendidik, serta untuk mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi penanaman nilai multikultural. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan data sekunder, data primer terdiri dari 3 orang peserta didik dan 3 orang pendidik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu observasi dan wawancara. Dari penelitian ini hasil yang diperoleh adalah pendidik menananamkan nilai multikultural dan mengaitkan dengan materi pembelajaran, peserta didik juga melakukan toleransi sosial dengan baik. Adapun faktor yang mempengaruhi dalam penanaman nilai multikultural dalam mengambangkan sikap toleransi sosial yaitu faktor pendukung dan faktor penghambat.

Abstract

This research aims to explore relevant hadiths related to the understanding of gender and analyze the clarity of the hadiths' chain of narration. The research method used is takhrij, which involves the analysis of hadiths related to gender issues and the study of relevant literature in the context of Islamic scholarship and gender studies. Moreover, it employs I'tibar sanad, which seeks to find stronger narration chains than other chains. The data analysis is carried out through critically examining the content (matn), a method commonly used in hadith research to assess the accuracy and reliability of hadiths based on their content. The research results show that hadiths guide the role and position of women in Islam, but there are often variations and different interpretations. This research also highlights the importance of evaluating and understanding the clarity of the hadiths' chain of narration to understand religious teachings accurately in the context of gender.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a prevalent problem among students that has significant negative impacts on their academic performance and well-being. This qualitative study aims to explore the factors and experiences of academic procrastination from the perspective of students. The study involved in-depth interviews with a sample of students who have experienced academic procrastination. The data collected were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns related to procrastination behavior. The results of this study provide insight into the underlying factors that contribute to academic procrastination and the experiences of students who struggle with this behavior. The study results indicate that there are several factors that influence students and contribute to academic procrastination, such as ineffective time management, lack of motivation or self disipline, lack of planning skills, fear of failure, and boredom with tasks.

Abstract

Dalam era perubahan regulasi tenaga kerja, pemutusan hubungan kerja (PHK) menjadi isu yang kompleks dan sensitif bagi perusahaan. Dinamika faktor politik memainkan peran krusial dalam pembentukan dan implementasi kebijakan PHK. Perubahan dalam peta politik suatu negara dapat mempengaruhi arah dan ruang lingkup regulasi ketenagakerjaan, yang pada gilirannya memengaruhi strategi dan keputusan organisasi terkait PHK. Faktor politik juga dapat memengaruhi keseimbangan kekuatan antara pengusaha dan pekerja, serta memengaruhi persepsi publik terhadap kebijakan PHK. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman mendalam tentang dinamika faktor politik dalam kebijakan PHK menjadi krusial bagi manajemen perusahaan dalam mengambil keputusan yang tepat dan responsif terhadap perubahan lingkungan politik dan hukum. Penelitian ini membahas pentingnya analisis faktor politik dalam konteks PHK di era perubahan regulasi tenaga kerja dan menyajikan pandangan yang holistik untuk memandu praktik terbaik dalam manajemen tenaga kerja.
