Abstract

The difficulty students face in describing problems from posed physics-related questions is an indicator that is rarely studied. This research explores students' abilities in describing electrical circuit problems based on implementing STEM-Project Based Learning (STEM-PBL). This study employed a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory model. The subjects were 35 undergraduate Physics Education students at the University of Jambi enrolled in the Electromagnetism course. Data collection was carried out through tests and interviews. The test instrument used five reasoned multiple-choice questions, while the interview instrument used open-ended questions based on the problems identified from the test results. The study's findings revealed an effect size of 2.1 (medium category) and an N-Gain of 0.5 (medium category). Thus, STEM-PBL influences students' ability to describe problems. Future research should investigate the influence of other variables, such as educational background and learning motivation, on the effectiveness of STEM-PBL in developing students' problem-description skills further.

Abstract

Despite three years of implementing the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS) in Indonesia, the number of sexual violence cases remains high, leading this study to focus on wives experiencing domestic sexual violence who choose not to pursue legal action. Employing the empowering photovoice method, which allows participants to share their experiences through photos and narratives, this research reveals the types of sexual violence experienced and their reasons for remaining in abusive relationships. The findings reveal four categories of sexual violence: physical/non-physical sexual harassment, sexual torture, and marital rape. Wives choose to stay due to fears concerning their children's future and the belief in the "obedient wife" ideal. This study highlights the prevalence of domestic sexual violence despite the enactment of the UU TPKS.

Abstract

This systematic literature review explores research on scientific creativity in physics education published between 2020 and 2024, with a particular focus on the intersection of instructional tasks and physics topics. Using PRISMA-based identification, screening, eligibility, and synthesis procedures, 130 initial records from Scopus were narrowed to 20 eligible studies that explicitly addressed both instructional task types and physics-related content. Instructional tasks were classified into seven categories as problem finding, open-ended problem solving, creative experiment design, hypothesis generation, modeling tasks, product improvement, and interdisciplinary tasks, while physics topics were coded from domain-specific subjects to broader categories. Findings indicate a strong dominance of modeling tasks, particularly when paired with general topics, reflecting their adaptability to varied instructional contexts and alignment with STEM or STEAM frameworks. In contrast, tasks such as creative experiment design and product improvement were less represented, and domain-specific topics appeared infrequently. This pattern suggests a tendency toward flexible but generalized approaches to fostering creativity, potentially at the expense of deep disciplinary engagement. The review highlights the need to diversify instructional tasks and embed creative learning within core physics content. These insights carry implications for curriculum design, teacher professional development, and future research aiming to balance interdisciplinary breadth with disciplinary depth in promoting scientific creativity in physics education.

Abstract

This study explores the role of principal leadership style in shaping the quality of 21st-century teaching skills among elementary school teachers in Indonesia, with particular attention to leadership practices, challenges encountered, and strategies for improvement. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at SD Negeri 90 Sampulungan, Takalar, South Sulawesi, involving the principal and teachers as participants. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation to provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. The findings indicate that the principal primarily employed transformational and democratic leadership styles. These approaches motivated teachers by inspiring them with clear visions, serving as role models, and encouraging active participation in decision-making processes. Such leadership practices contributed significantly to teacher engagement and the overall school climate. Teachers, in turn, demonstrated competencies aligned with 21st-century learning demands, particularly through the application of the 4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. They also showed efforts in integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into their teaching practices and implementing interactive classroom management strategies. However, several challenges were identified, including limited availability of facilities, resistance among some teachers toward adopting innovative methods, and the heavy administrative workload that often distracted from instructional focus. To address these issues, the principal implemented various strategies such as organizing continuous professional development training, providing close supervision and mentoring, and offering motivational support to sustain teacher commitment. Overall, the study emphasizes the crucial role of transformational leadership in strengthening teachers’ 21st-century skills and offers practical implications for educational policy development, while also recommending future studies across broader school contexts in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia is recorded as an archipelagic country with cultural diversity. However, technological advancement and globalization have an impact on local culture. One of them is that Sumbawa's culture is threatened to be eroded and forgotten due to the younger generation shifting towards Western culture or K-pop. Everyone on the island of Sumbawa, especially students, is expected to know and enhance their love for the local culture of Sumbawa. Based on this, this research aims to examine the concept of SAJODAR as an educational application of Satera Jontal and Sumbawa regional culture based on Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance students' knowledge and love for Sumbawa's local culture. The method used in this research is the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to construct a learning system. The ADDIE development model is more effective, rational, and comprehensive for developing a product. The analysis results show a relatively high attention rate in the realm of technology-based cultural learning, to facilitate students, especially in using the SAJODAR application as a medium to enhance the love for Sumbawa culture.

Abstract

Dodol Betawi, a traditional Indonesian confection, faces limited competitiveness due to its high sugar content, lack of product diversification, and reliance on plastic packaging. These challenges reduce consumer appeal, restrict entry into modern retail channels, and hinder export readiness. This study reports a participatory community service program with UMKM D’Tungku in Bojonggede, West Java, aimed at developing a replicable model that integrates product innovation, appropriate technology, and sustainable packaging. Five low-sugar dodol variants enriched with local botanicals—pumpkin, pineapple, pandan leaves, hibiscus, and butterfly pea—were formulated to provide functional benefits such as dietary fiber, antioxidants, and potential anti-diabetic properties. Alongside product reformulation, eco-friendly packaging prototypes were introduced using bamboo, natural leaves, and linen pouches to replace single-use plastics. A preliminary sensory evaluation involving SME workers indicated strong acceptance for color, taste, and aroma, though texture improvements remain necessary. Packaging innovations were well-received for their aesthetics and sustainability, despite higher production costs compared to plastic alternatives. Furthermore, appropriate technology in the form of mixing and rolling machines improved efficiency and ensured consistent product size, reducing processing time from four hours to one and a half hours. Initial export activities through the Indonesian diaspora in Japan confirmed international interest in Dodol Betawi, while underscoring the importance of sustainable packaging to meet environmentally conscious consumer expectations. The findings highlight that integrating nutritional innovation, technology adoption, and eco-friendly design provides a holistic and scalable strategy for enhancing SME competitiveness, preserving cultural food heritage, and strengthening readiness for global markets.ABSTRAKDodol Betawi sebagai pangan tradisional Indonesia menghadapi keterbatasan daya saing akibat tingginya kandungan gula, minimnya diversifikasi produk, serta ketergantungan pada kemasan plastik.

Abstract

The integration of spiritual values and Computational Thinking (CT) in science learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah remains limited and has not been systematically addressed. This study aims to develop the SCT Tree Model, an innovative instructional model that integrates spirituality with CT in science learning, and to examine its effectiveness on students’ learning outcomes at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential exploratory design, involving six experts, 241 teachers, and 188 students across Central Java, Indonesia. The model was validated by experts and practitioners, showing a valid category (Aiken’s V = 0.81–0.93). A pilot test indicated an increase in average scores from 79 to 94 (+15 points), while a large-scale trial demonstrated an increase from 72 to 90 (+18 points). Experimental testing across three regions confirmed that the SCT Tree Model contributed 84.5% to students’ science learning outcomes, with significant differences compared to conventional instruction. The novelty of this research lies in the systematic integration of spiritual values and CT through seven contextually based tree syntaxes. Practically, the model offers a concrete solution for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers to implement holistic science learning that aligns with national curriculum policies and 21st-century educational demands.
