Abstract

This research is motivated by transformational leadership, which refers to leaders who can motivate their followers to perform and manage their own interests for the benefit of the organization through individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, and idealized influence, all of which result in extra effort from employees for better organizational effectiveness. However, in the Lubuk Basung District Public High School, it seems that transformational leadership has not been implemented effectively. The objectives of this research are to obtain data and information regarding 1) the transformational leadership of the school principal, 2) teacher's work motivation, and 3) the relationship between the school principal's transformational leadership style and teacher's work motivation in the Lubuk Basung District Public High School. The hypothesis proposed in this research is that there is a significant relationship between the school principal's transformational leadership and teacher's work motivation. This is a correlational research study. The population consists of all civil servant teachers teaching in the Lubuk Basung District Public High School, with a total of 83 individuals. The research sample is obtained using a proportional stratified random sampling technique with the Solvin formula, resulting in a sample size of 71 individuals. The research instrument used is a Likert Scale questionnaire with five answer options. Validity and reliability testing were performed using SPSS version 24. Data analysis involved the Product Moment Correlation test to examine the relationship between the two variables and the significance testing of the correlation using the t-test formula. The data analysis results show that 1) teacher's work motivation is at a relatively high interpretation level, at 79.40%, 2) the school principal's transformational leadership is interpreted as good, at 86.04%, and 3) there is a significant relationship between the two variables with a correlation coefficient of 0.550 and a correlation significance test of 5.465. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the school principal's transformational leadership is one of the factors that influence teacher's work motivation. This means that the higher the school principal's transformational leadership, the higher the motivation of teachers in the Lubuk Basung District Public High School.

Abstract

M. Syafe'i's philosophy is a philosophy that develops self-potential according to talents and interests. M. Syafe'i said that humans grow and develop according to their talents and interests. Develop the talents and interests they have and they will be great. The purpose of this study is to determine M. Syafe'i's Philosophy in the Meaning of Life and its Implementation in Guidance and Counseling. The method in this study is library research, focused on the description of M. Syafe'i's life journey, thoughts, and implementation of M. Syafe'i's philosophy in guidance and counseling. The results of this study are that M. Syafe'i's philosophy has the potential to make a significant contribution to guidance and counseling. This philosophy can help counselors develop a more individual-centered approach in helping their clients.

Abstract

Education has a very important role in the development of a nation, especially in creating a generation that is ready to face future challenges. In Indonesia, the problem that is often faced in the world of education is the misalignment between the curriculum applied with the needs of society, as well as the rapid development of technology and global challenges. Therefore, we need a curriculum that is not only relevant to the times, but also able to facilitate the growth of individual learners. Jean Jacques Rousseau, an 18th-century philosopher, offered an insightful view of education that focused on the development of children's natural potential and their well-being. In his famous work Émile, ou De l'éducation (1762), Rousseau emphasized the importance of child-oriented education, which gives children the freedom to grow according to their natural stages of development. This thinking is very relevant to be used as a basis for the formulation of a better and holistic curriculum, which can support the education system in Indonesia in facing the challenges of the times.

Abstract

The implementation of education is currently still indicated to be in oppression. This condition can be seen from the process that positions students as educational objects. Meanwhile, students are the subject of education. Education should be carried out with a fun, active and creative process. To overcome the shackles and realize liberating education, it is carried out by implementing the educational process proposed by Paulo Freire. Teachers are the spearhead in organizing education in a humanist and dialogical manner. Education takes place by implementing dialogue interactively, with love, humility, trust, critical thinking and hope for students. This research Journal of Ummah Studies and Development p aims to uncover humanist and dialogical education based on Paulo Freire's thought and its implementation in guidance and counseling services. This research was conducted using literature research. Data was collected by examining sources derived from articles and books. The results of the study prove the importance of humanist and dialogical education in removing the shackles of oppression in education, by placing students as active subjects in learning. To create active and creative students as subjects in education, it is necessary to have an educational process that is carried out by mutual respect for the dignity and dignity of students, social justice, reality-based, freedom in undergoing the process, cooperative, having the opportunity to express creative thoughts with love, humility, trust, and hope. Humanist and dialogical education is a discourse offered to overcome the ice and shackles in education. The implementation of guidance and counseling services in the educational environment, assists students in overcoming various problems, and achieves their development optimally.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a model of leadershipmanagerial competence of head of High School in Padangsidimpuan. Theexpected model can be used as a reference for school supervisors inconducting guidance of managerial competence of head of SMAPadangsidimpuan. This research was done using research and development(R and D) by applying the procedural model. The data of this research areconsisted of (1) qualitative data that was obtained from observation,interview, and documentation of the study and it was analyzed usingdescriptive statistics. (2) quantitative data by using questionnaire. Thequalitative data were analyzed using three ways, ie data reduction, datapresentation, and taking conclusions. The findings of this study are (1) Thecoaching is focused on the administrative aspect and has not yet touched themanagerial competence of the principal of SMA Padangsidimpuan and (2)the coaching process has not been done properly. This research resulted amodel of managerial competence development for the head of SMAPadangsidimpuan consisting of two components, namely (1) theidentification instrument of managerial competence and, (2) the steps ofcoaching the managerial competence of the principal of SMAPadangsidimpuan. This model is equipped with a support system thatincludes a program of leadership managerial competence of senior highschool Padangsidimpuan. The test results show that this model is practicaland effective for use in improving the managerial competence of SMAPadangsidimpuan. How well the model of guiding the managerialcompetence of the principal produced will not mean anything if its use doesnot get support from the parties related to the principal guidance inparticular and general education management. It is therefore necessary tosupport the school superintendent to use this model within thePadangsidimpuan.

Abstract

Penelitian kepustakaan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi efektivitas pendekatan behavioristik, khususnya penerapan reward dan punishment, dalam menumbuhkan disiplin anak. Berdasarkan analisis terhadap berbagai literatur ilmiah, ditemukan bahwa reward dan punishment memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pembentukan perilaku anak. Reward, seperti pujian, hadiah, dan bentuk apresiasi lainnya, dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan mendorong anak untuk mengulang perilaku positif. Punishment, seperti teguran, hukuman, dan konsekuensi negatif, dapat mengurangi frekuensi perilaku negatif dan mengarahkan anak untuk memahami konsekuensi dari tindakannya.Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa reward dan hukuman terbukti efektif dalam mengubah perilaku anak, tetapi penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa berbagai faktor dapat memengaruhi keberhasilan mereka; ini termasuk usia anak, jenis reward dan hukuman, frekuensi pemberian, konsistensi, dan hubungan antara pemberi dan penerima. Beberapa studi menunjukkan adanya korelasi positif antara pemberian reward dan peningkatan disiplin anak, sementara studi lain menunjukkan bahwa punishment yang diterapkan secara tepat dan proporsional dapat efektif dalam mengurangi perilaku negatif. Namun, penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk memahami efek jangka panjang dari reward dan punishment, serta efektivitas berbagai jenis reward dan punishment dalam konteks yang berbeda. Studi longitudinal yang mengkaji perkembangan disiplin anak dari waktu ke waktu dan studi komparatif yang membandingkan efektivitas berbagai jenis reward dan punishment akan memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang topik ini. Penelitian ini memiliki implikasi praktis yang signifikan bagi orang tua, guru, dan praktisi pendidikan dalam mendidik anak dan menumbuhkan disiplin. Pengetahuan tentang pendekatan behavioristik, reward, dan punishment dapat membantu para pendidik dalam menerapkan strategi yang tepat dan etis dalam membentuk perilaku positif dan mengurangi perilaku negatif pada anak.

Abstract

There are various ways that school principals carry out teaching supervision, both autocratically and democratically. This research aims to see what obstacles there are in school principals' teaching supervision. The method used in this research is the library research method related to journals regarding the teaching supervision of school principals. From the results of the discussion it is known that the obstacles in the principal's teaching supervision involve four factors, namely the principal (time, lack of skills and knowledge, stress and personal characteristics of the principal), teachers (teacher attitudes and motivation), students and equipment and facilities.

Abstract

Jhon Dewey merupakan salah satu tokoh terkenal dalam bidang pendidikan. Pemikiran Jhon Dewey banyak menginspirasi pelaksanaan pendidikan termasuk pendidikan di Indonesia, namun seberapa jauh pengaruh pemikiran dan bagaimana penerapan pemikiran Jhon Dewey mesti dikaji lebih lanjut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi penerapan pemikiran Jhon Dewey dalam implementasi pembelajaran di Indonesia. Lebih lanjut, penelitian kajian literatur sistematis diterapkan menggunakan metode PRISMA untuk memenuhi tujuan penelitian tersebut. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pelacakan digital dari sumber yang terpercaya yaitu Google Scholar. Setelah proses pelacakan dan seleksi, terkumpul 14 penelitian yang membahas peran pemikiran Jhon Dewey dalam implementasi pembelajaran di Indonesia. Diketahui bahwa publikasi menunjukkan pemkiran Jhon Dewey sudah dikaji secara mendalam di Indonesia. Namun masih kajian dan penelitian yang dilakukan masih terbatas pada penelitian studi literatur.

Abstract

There are still problems related to teacher performance which are thought to be caused by teacher competence and low work motivation. The purpose of this study was to analyze about (1) the performance of state high school teachers. (2) the competence of state high school teachers. (3) the work motivation of state high schools. (4) the influence of teacher competence and work motivation in partial and joint performance on the performance of State High School teachers. This research is correlational quantitative research with associative type. The population is all teachers who teach at State High School, totaling 191 people. Samples were taken using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used a Likert Scale model questionnaire. From the trial results, it was found that the research questionnaire was valid. Then the research data were analyzed using the average score (Mean) for data description, requirements test, namely the normality test, homogeneity test, linearity test and multicollinearity test. Then test the hypothesis using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression testing using SPSS version 25.0. The results of the descriptive analysis of teacher performance were 89.40%, teacher competence was 89.95%, and work motivation was 87.9%. The results of the data analysis show that there is a significant influence between teacher competence on teacher performance of 47.2%, there is a significant influence between work motivation on teacher performance of 25.8%, and there is a significant influence between teacher competency and work motivation jointly on teacher performance of 75.1%.

Abstract

Teacher innovation is the ability of a teacher to be creative in managing the learning process with the competence they has. Based on the pre-survey in the field, it is illustrated that the innovation of public elementary school teachers is still low. This study aims to analyze the effect of the principal's transformational leadership, and work motivation on the innovation of public elementary school teachers. This research is a correlational quantitative research with associative type. The research instrument used a Likert Scale model questionnaire. The trial was carried out on a population outside the sample of 30 people.Then the research data were analyzed using the average score (Mean) for data description, requirements test, namely the normality test, homogeneity test, linearity test and multicollinearity test. Then test the hypothesis using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression testing using SPSS version 24.0. The results of the descriptive analysis of teacher innovation were 82.15%, the transformational leadership of school principals was 91.12%, and work motivation was 91.51%. The results of the data analysis show that there is a significant influence between the transformational leadership of school principals on teacher innovation by 17.4%, there is a significant effect between work motivation on teacher innovation by 33.5%, and there is a significant influence between the transformational leadership of school principals and work motivation together on teacher innovation by 35.3%.
