Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of profitability, leverage, good corporate governance, gender diversity, political connections, and consumer protection policies on financial difficulties in food and beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample was collected using purposive sampling, with a total of 27 companies meeting the criteria during the research period. The analysis method used was panel data regression processed using EViews software. The results of this study indicate that profitability has a positive effect on financial distress, meaning that companies with high profits may face certain financial pressures that may be caused by large investments or aggressive expansion. Meanwhile, leverage, good corporate governance, and gender diversity were found to have a negative impact on financial distress, indicating that cautious financing structures, sound managerial practices, and diversity in leadership can reduce the likelihood of a company experiencing financial distress. On the other hand, political connections and consumer protection policies did not show a significant impact on companies' financial difficulties, suggesting that these external factors may not be the primary determinants of the financial condition of food and beverage companies. These findings are expected to contribute to academic literature and serve as considerations for management and stakeholders in making strategic decisions to avoid potential bankruptcy risks in the future.

Abstract

Bali cattle have a distinct coloration that indicates the sexual dimorphism of adult cattle. However, coat color deviations are found in bulls due to either genetic impurity or inbreeding. Furthermore, information is needed to determine whether there is a relationship between coat color and cattle performance. This study aimed to evaluate the potential association between coat color deviation and the growth traits of male Bali cattle. A total of 99 adult male Bali cattle from Livestock Breeding and Forage Centre (BPTU) Denpasar, Bali, were used in this study to assess the possible association between coat color and growth capacity. Animals were grouped according to color patterns into full black (FBL), faded black (FDB), black sorel (BSR), and sorel (SRL). Periodically, growth traits of body weight (BW), wither height (WH), body length (BL), and chest circumference (CC) were measured at birth, weaning, and 365 and 730 days of age. The repeated measurement Anova analysis was used to evaluate the relation between coat color and growth traits over time. This study showed no correlation for both traits in calves due to the absence of color deviation in age. However, it turned out to be a significantly positive correlation (p<0.05) when Bali cattle reached puberty at 365 and 730 days. The black adult bulls (FBL & FDB) were significantly larger in growth traits (p<0.05) than their brown (BSR and SRL) counterparts. The coat color of male adult Bali cattle was associated with their growth traits.

Abstract

The FRAS1-related extracellular matrix protein 2 (FREM2) gene is one of the genes that play a role in controlling marbling scores in beef cattle. This study aimed to identify SNPs in exon 6 of the FREM2 gene and its association with carcass quality in Bali beef using ultrasonography. A total of 93 cattle were used: 55 cattle from Banjarmasin slaughterhouse, South Kalimantan, Indonesia, 28 cattle from Bali Cattle Breeding Centre in Bali Province, and 10 cattle from UPTD Kupang Regency, NTT, Indonesia. SNP of the FREM2 gene was identified by using sequencing techniques and then genotyping by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The association of FREM2 gene SNPs with carcass characteristics was analyzed using the General Linear Model (GLM) method using SPSS software version 22. Carcass (longissimus dorsi thickness; back fat thickness) and meat (intramuscular fat; marbling score) characteristics were identified non-invasively using ultrasonography images and then analyzed with Image-J NIH software. SNP at position g.89327G>A was located in exon 6 of the FREM2 gene and did not change the amino acid (prolineproline) sequence in Bali beef. The genotyping results with PCR-RFLP technique SNP g.89327G>A FREM2|BccI gene has high diversity. The alleles of A and G were 0.747 and 0.253, respectively. The diversity of SNP g.89327G>A was significantly associated (p<0.05) with longissimus dorsi thickness (LD), while back fat thickness, intramuscular fat, and marbling score did not significantly different (p>0.05). Thus, SNP at position g.89327G>A in exon 6 of the FREM2 gene might be used as a candidate genetic marker for carcass quality in Bali beef.

Abstract

Improving the quality of basic education is strongly influenced by the quality of educators and education personnel. The National Education Standards (SNP) have set Educator and Education Personnel Standards as minimum indicators to ensure quality education services. This article aims to examine the implementation of these standards in primary schools and analyze their implications for school management. The method used is a literature review of relevant laws and regulations, books, scientific journals and research reports. The results of the study show that the implementation of the CFS in primary schools faces various challenges such as inequality in teacher competence, limited ongoing training, and the minimal role of education personnel in supporting the learning process. Implications for school management include the need for transformational leadership, strengthening academic supervision and improving human resource planning. Synergy between principals, teachers and other stakeholders is needed for this standard to be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Women's contribution to family income is increasingly necessary, especially during the current economic crisis. Women's limited access to market opportunities is shown by their low participation in formal businesses. Most women still work in the informal sector and in jobs that do not use sophisticated equipment and technology. This work usually does not provide adequate social and legal protection and welfare guarantees, in addition to unhealthy working conditions and of course low income levels. Azalea MSMEs are currently almost mostly women entrepreneurs, expected to support the household economy. Therefore, this PKM activity aims to provide training to be able to increase the role of women (community and Azalea MSMEs) in supporting the household economy, it is hoped that women can have financial independence

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the fatty acid profiles of Bali cattle and Wagyu cattle. A total of 50 beef was used in this study, consisting of 44 Bali cattle from Kupang, NTT, and 6 samples of Wagyu cattle from supermarkets. The fatty acid profiles identified are saturated and unsaturated (MUFA and PUFA). The fatty acid analysis used is the Gas Chromatography (GC) method. Descriptive analysis was used to examine data on the fatty acid profile, and T-test analyzed fatty acid composition differences between Bali and Wagyu beef. Differences in fatty acid compositions have been reported based on breeds. The Bali beef had significantly (p<0.05) higher saturated fatty acid than Wagyu. Several fatty acids of meat from Bali cattle were significantly different (p<0.05) from Wagyu, except for myristoleic (C14:0) and palmitoleic acids (C16:0) did not show significant differences (p>0.05). The principal component analysis (PCA) results showed that the first principal component was UFA, MUFA: SFA ratio, oleic acid, omega-9, MUFA, and palmitic acid. In contrast, the second principal component was myristoleic acid, linolenic acid, omega-3, PUFA: SFA ratio, PUFA, omega-6, linoleic acid, stearic acid, SFA, and palmitoleic acid. The study's findings revealed that Bali beef had a much more saturated fatty acid composition of Bali beef was higher than Wagyu beef. This result suggests that Wagyu cattle have a more favorable fatty acid profile, which benefits health.
