Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of Islamic business ethics and the utilization of Islamic microfinance in fostering the development of bakso (meatball) micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Deli Tua District. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation and semi-structured interviews with six bakso shop owners selected via purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman framework, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of Islamic business ethics—particularly honesty and social responsibility—significantly enhances customer loyalty and strengthens business image. Furthermore, Islamic microfinance based on murabahah contracts contributes to increasing production capacity and improving business facilities. The synergy between ethical practices and Islamic financing not only reinforces business reputation but also facilitates access to Sharia-compliant funding. The study suggests that integrating ethical values with Islamic financial mechanisms can serve as an effective strategy for promoting sustainable MSME growth

Abstract

The increasing population in Bogor City, especially in the Tanah Baru area, leads to an increase in the volume of domestic wastewater and municipal waste such as chicken eggshells. Chicken eggshells have the potential to be used as an environmentally friendly biocoagulant to reduce pollutant load, but their effectiveness on domestic wastewater still needs to be studied. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding chicken eggshell biocoagulant on changes in pH, TDS, and conductivity parameters of domestic wastewater and compare it with the conventional coagulant polyaluminum chloride (PAC). The methods used include preparing chicken eggshell powder through washing, drying, grinding, sieving, and chemical activation, then applying it to wastewater samples at a dosage of 50 g/500 mL and comparing it with PAC at a dosage of 1 mL/500 mL using the jar test. The results show that adding chicken eggshell biocoagulant did not significantly reduce pollutant load, even causing an increase in TDS and conductivity, while PAC was able to improve wastewater quality with much lower increases in TDS and conductivity, and the pH remained within the quality standard range. These findings indicate that chemically, chicken eggshells are more suitable for use as an adsorbent or support material in coagulation systems than as the primary coagulant in domestic wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Household activities generate large amounts of organic waste. Improper waste management can negatively impact the environment. Several areas, including Mulyaharja in Bogor, still face difficulties in managing organic waste. This is because the practice of sorting and processing organic waste has not yet been widely introduced and implemented. An alternative solution to reduce the negative impact of poor organic waste management on the environment is to process it into eco-enzymes. In addition to reducing the amount of waste disposed of in landfills, eco-enzymes can also function as a natural cleaning solution for daily household use. To introduce this processing method, a sustainable waste processing program was carried out in Mulyaharja through two activities. The first activity was the socialization of the definition and processing of organic waste, as well as the types of organic waste that can be used to produce eco-enzymes. The second activity was hands-on training in processing organic waste into eco-enzymes, so that the community could fully understand the tools, materials, and stages of its production. The main ingredients in making eco-enzymes are fruit and vegetable peel waste, molasses, and water. After the eco-enzyme solution was ready, this solution could be used to clean toilets, bathrooms, floors, and kitchen surfaces. The results of the program showed an increase in community knowledge and skills in processing organic waste, as well as increased adoption of environmentally friendly cleaning products as alternatives to chemical cleaners.

Abstract

Bamboo is a very abundant resource with high diversity. There are 157 types of bamboo in Indonesia, one of which is petung bamboo. Petung bamboo is used as raw material for handicrafts and construction, but much of it remains unused and becomes waste, making it a potential alternative fuel source such as bio-briquettes. This study aims to determine the effect of compression pressure on the characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes and to determine the suitability of the quality of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes according to SNI 01-6235-2000. The research design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with compression pressure factors consisting of 200 psi, 350 psi, and 500 psi. The conversion of bamboo biomass into charcoal was carried out using the pyrolysis method with a drum kiln. The results showed that the highest average density value was found in treatment T3, which was 0.53 g/cm3, while the lowest average density value of charcoal briquettes was found in treatment T1, which was 0.44 g/cm3. Based on SNI, the moisture content that met the SNI standard was found in treatment T2 (350 psi) < 8%. The ash content of all treatments of charcoal briquettes meets the standard of < 8%, the volatile matter content of all treatments of charcoal briquettes does not meet the standard of <15%, and the calorific value of all treatments of charcoal briquettes meets the standard of > 5000 cal/g. Compression pressure does not affect the characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes. All characteristics of petung bamboo charcoal briquettes in this study met the SNI No. 01-623-2000 standard, except for the volatile matter content and moisture content at pressures T1 (200 psi) and T2 (350 psi).

Abstract

This study examines how the public interprets the implementation of the Indonesian Ulema Council's National Sharia Council Fatwa on sharia insurance in sharia insurance products. The approach used is descriptive qualitative through in-depth interviews with six informants selected purposively. The data was organized and read repeatedly, then analyzed thematically to find patterns of views, especially related to contracts, tabarru' fund flows, and the claims process. The results show an initial positive attitude due to the religious legitimacy of the fatwa, but technical understanding is still limited. Doubts mainly arise regarding the differences in principles with conventional insurance, clarity of costs, transparency of fund management, and the speed and certainty of claims. Perceptions are influenced by religious values, exposure to information, level of education, the influence of family/religious leaders, and service experience. The study recommends simple one-page product communication, ongoing community-based education, and concise periodic reporting to make fatwa implementation more effective, increase trust, and strengthen interest in participating in Islamic insurance.

Abstract

This research investigates the challenges in business growth faced by Rumah Makan Rani in Laugendek, Berastagi, especially the drop in customer numbers due to limited menu innovation and weak online promotion. The goal is to analyze both internal and external factors contributing to this decline, focusing on operational and customer-related issues, and to create strategies for business improvement based on the maslahah hajiyyah principle. The study uses a qualitative method, employing SWOT analysis, with data gathered from semi-structured interviews with the business owner and customers, as well as direct observations conducted over two weeks. The results show that the strengths of Rumah Makan Rani lie in its authentic local flavors, halal-certified ingredients, and excellent customer service. However, weaknesses were found in its limited menu variety and low use of digital marketing, which has led to fewer repeat customers compared to competitors offering more diverse menus and better online presence. The research identifies opportunities for business expansion, such as the growing public interest in local cuisine and the increasing popularity of social media platforms, while challenges include fierce competition and rising costs of raw materials. Based on these insights, the study suggests that the business should diversify its menu and leverage digital platforms like Instagram and Facebook to share updates and engage customers. This research aims to offer practical recommendations for small culinary businesses to create sustainable models that bring greater social and economic value to the community.

Abstract

Introduction: Islamic entrepreneurial behavior views business activities not merely as a means of profit, but as an implementation of the values of monotheism, trustworthiness, justice, and welfare. However, student entrepreneurial interest remains relatively low, while Islamic financial literacy and social environmental influences are suspected to be important factors in shaping Islamic value-based business behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic financial literacy and peer influence on Islamic entrepreneurial behavior among students at UIN Sumatera Utara Medan. Methods: The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method on 100 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression using SPSS 22. Instrument tests, classical assumptions, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficients of determination were used to test the hypotheses. Results: The results show that Islamic financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on Islamic entrepreneurial behavior (t = 10.637; p < 0.05). Conversely, peer influence has no significant partial effect (t = 0.134; p > 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables have a significant effect (F = 57.252; p < 0.05) with an explanatory contribution of 54.1%. Conclusion and suggestion: Sharia financial literacy is a primary factor in shaping Islamic entrepreneurial behavior, while peer influence is supportive. Strengthening the entrepreneurship curriculum based on the principles of sharia, training in Islamic financial literacy, and developing students' spiritual character are recommended to foster ethical, independent, and blessing-oriented entrepreneurs.
