Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of coaching-based academic supervision on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 1 Amurang and SMA Negeri 1 Motoling. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. The population consisted of 122 teachers, all of whom were included as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and simple linear regression. The results showed that coaching-based academic supervision does not have a significant effect on teacher performance (p > 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.013 indicates that the contribution of coaching-based academic supervision to teacher performance is very low, accounting for only 1.3%, while most of the variation in teacher performance is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that coaching-based academic supervision has not been able to directly improve teacher performance, especially when its implementation is not carried out consistently and in depth. This study emphasizes that the effectiveness of coaching-based supervision is contextual and highly dependent on the quality of implementation and the support of the school’s organizational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of teacher creativity on the learning motivation of public elementary school students in Tomohon City by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This research employed a quantitative explanatory approach. The population consisted of all fifth- and sixth-grade students from 21 public elementary schools in Tomohon City. The sample size was determined using the Lemeshow formula at a 95% confidence level, resulting in 384 respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 8 indicators of teacher creativity and 10 indicators of learning motivation. Data analysis was carried out using AMOS through descriptive analysis, measurement model testing, and structural model testing. The findings revealed that teacher creativity was in the very high category with a mean score of 4.444, while students’ learning motivation was also in the very high category with a mean score of 4.392. The SEM results indicated that the proposed model had a good level of fit. Furthermore, teacher creativity had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation, with a standardized path coefficient of 0.471 and a significance value of p < 0.001. This study concludes that improving teacher creativity can strengthen students’ learning motivation

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of school-based management in GMIM Ko Elementary School. The main focus of this study is the role played by school principals, school committees, and education commissions in managing and improving the quality of education in those schools. This study used a qualitative approach by adopting Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The data collection method involved in-depth interviews with principals, school committee members, and education commission members. Direct observation is also conducted to understand the dynamics of interaction between the three parties in the context of decision making and implementation of school-based management programs. The results of the study are expected to provide a clear picture of how principals, school committees and education commissions collaborate to achieve school-based management goals at GMIM Ko Elementary School. The implications of these research findings can be used as a basis for improving school-based management policies and practices in similar schools as well as contributing to the literature on the implementation of school-based management. Based on the results of the study revealed differences in understanding of the concept of School Based Management among school principals, education committees and education commissions. School principals focus more independently on managing resources, while education committees and commissions emphasize comprehensive management. This incomprehension can hinder SBM implementation, so training and modules are needed to improve understanding of concepts. Regarding the role of the principal, it is necessary to improve as educators, supervisors, and managers involving all stackholders. School committees need a greater focus on academic programs, while education committees play an important role as mediators and patrons of school ptograms. Obstacles to SBM implementation involve coordination constraints, lack of effective communication and busy stakeholders. Solutions include improved communication, understanding of roles and a culture of cooperation. The principal's proactive strategy with direct monitoring, limited consultation, efficient communication and quick decision making, plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of SBM. This approach demonstrates pragmatism and flexibility in managing resources to achieve school goals.
