Abstract

Turbine damage can be caused by several causes, including damage to the turbine due to cavitation on the surface of its blades. Miscalculation of the position or location of the turbine can occur and will result in this cavitation. The Thoma cavitation factor is used to determine whether the turbine operation is safe from cavitation. This research was conducted at the Wadaslintang Hydroelectric Power Plant. The research used a quantitative descriptive research method. This study aims to determine the level of cavitation that occurs in the Francis turbine at an actual reservoir elevation of 169.23 meters above sea level with maximum guide vane openings to minimum guide vane openings. At variations in guide vane openings of 100% and 80% cavitation occurs, while at guide vane openings of 76%, 60%, 40%, and 20% cavitation does not occur. The larger the guide vane opening, the cavitation level is in a more dangerous condition because the difference between the cavitation factor and the critical cavitation factor is smaller, with the difference values of 1.285073, 1.023435, 0.970782, 0.763080, 0.506127, and 0.253081, respectively. The smaller the guide vane opening, the smaller the risk of cavitation, but the power generated is also smaller. Safe operating conditions from cavitation with the greatest power are found at a guide vane opening of 76%-80%. Keywords: francis turbine, guide vane, cavitation, thoma cavitation factor.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technologies in Indonesia has brought significant challenges regarding data protection and privacy. With the increasing use of online services, e-commerce, and digital transactions, concerns over personal data security have intensified. In response, the Indonesian government enacted the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law) in 2022, marking a significant milestone in the country’s legal framework for data privacy. This study explores the implementation and effectiveness of data protection laws in Indonesia using a qualitative research approach. Through in-depth interviews with legal experts, government officials, and digital rights advocates, this research examines the extent to which current regulations align with global standards and whether they adequately address data security threats. The findings indicate that while the PDP Law represents progress, challenges remain in enforcement, compliance, and public awareness. Many organizations, particularly in the private sector, struggle to adapt to the new regulatory environment, and law enforcement agencies face difficulties in overseeing compliance due to resource limitations. Additionally, a lack of digital literacy among Indonesian citizens poses risks, as individuals are often unaware of their data protection rights. Comparisons with international best practices, such as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), reveal gaps in Indonesia’s approach, particularly in enforcement mechanisms and penalties for data breaches. This study highlights the need for greater government oversight, stronger institutional capacity, and enhanced public education programs to ensure that Indonesia’s data protection laws effectively safeguard digital privacy in the evolving digital landscape.

Abstract

Coral reefs are one of the ecosystems that play an important role in coastal areas but are vulnerable to change. Ecologically, coral reefs act as habitats for various kinds of reef fish, in addition to functioning as beach protectors from the crashing waves of currents as well as a source of germplasm. The diversity of coral genera and other biota is one of the important indicators in supporting the sustainability of water tourism activities, especially snorkeling and diving. Areas that have relatively high diversity of coral reefs have more resilience in their role in protecting coastal areas so that their existence needs to be maintained in order to avoid extinction. This study aims to identify the names of coral genera and measure the percentage of coral cover in the Gili Sulat and Gili Lawang Water Tourism Parks (WTP). The method used in this research is the Point Intercept Transect (PIT) method and the Time Swim method. The results showed that 10 genera had been identified, namely the genus Acropora, Euphyllia, Fungia, Galaxea, Lobophyllia, Montastrea, Montipora, Pachyseris, Plerogyra, and Porites. The largest coral genera were Porites and Acropora which were spread on transects 1 and 7. The average coverage of the two corals was 32.34% in Gili Sulat and 39.64% in Gili Lawang.

Abstract

This study discusses the strategic role of the government in overcoming the misuse of aspiration funds and its impact on the welfare of the community in Pati Regency. Aspiration funds, which should be used for development and public services, are often misused for personal or certain group interests, thereby hindering equitable development and lowering public trust in the government. Through a qualitative approach with interviews and observations, it was found that the misuse of aspiration funds had a negative impact in the form of financial losses, development inequality, and degradation of public participation. This research highlights the importance of strengthening regulations, harmonizing policies, increasing transparency and accountability, and active community involvement in supervision.  In addition, innovative solutions such as the implementation of information technology and the establishment of an independent supervisory team are key in creating clean and effective governance of aspiration funds. This research recommends synergy between the government, the community, and supervisory institutions for the realization of accountable public fund management that is in favor of the welfare of the people.

Abstract

Background: The integration of international law principles into domestic legal systems is a complex and often contentious process. In Indonesia, the implementation of international law principles in national law involves balancing domestic legal norms with the obligations arising from international treaties and conventions. While Indonesia has ratified numerous international agreements, the actual incorporation of these principles into national law remains inconsistent and subject to various interpretations. The tension between adherence to international norms and the sovereignty of national law presents a unique challenge in the application of international law principles within the Indonesian context. Objective: This study aims to examine how international law principles are implemented in Indonesian national law, focusing on the mechanisms, challenges, and effectiveness of their integration. The research seeks to identify key areas where international law is applied or disregarded in Indonesian legal practice and to provide recommendations for improving alignment with international standards. Method: A qualitative research approach was used, combining legal document analysis, case studies, and interviews with legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. This allowed for a comprehensive assessment of the practical application of international law principles in Indonesia’s legal system. Results: The study found that while Indonesia incorporates international law principles in specific areas, such as human rights and environmental law, there is often resistance or inconsistency in their implementation, particularly in areas that conflict with national interests. Conclusion: To enhance the effectiveness of implementing international law principles, this study recommends greater institutional cooperation, clearer legal frameworks, and the establishment of stronger enforcement mechanisms.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the efficiency of beef cattle supply chain management in Jember Regency during and after the Eid al-Adha period, and to evaluate the role of digital marketing in improving distribution. The research was conducted in July 2024 using a survey method with purposive sampling for selecting farmers and snowball sampling for marketing institutions. The results showed three marketing patterns: Pattern I (Producers directly to consumers using the “SAPI SIP” digital platform), Pattern II (Producers – Wholesalers – Agents outside the city/province), and Pattern III (Producers – Wholesalers – Religious institutions – Consumers). The most efficient marketing pattern during the Eid al-Adha period was Pattern I, with the highest farmer price share: 95.24% for male cattle and 94.29% for female cattle. This was due to the direct-to-consumer approach via digital marketing, which reduced intermediaries and transaction costs. After Eid al-Adha, Pattern I remained the most efficient for male cattle (88.00%), while Pattern III showed slightly higher efficiency for female cattle (90.17%) due to strong institutional buyer networks. These findings indicate that digital marketing can significantly improve supply chain efficiency and enhance farmer welfare, especially during seasonal demand surges.
