Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease whose prevalence continues to increase. Diabetes mellitus sufferers are advised to do lifestyle interventions in the form of physical activity. Physical activity provides benefits for diabetics, through the autocrine response of muscles to release IL-6 for muscle repair. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate intensity of physical activity against muscle IL-6 in diabetic mice. The subjects in this study were male mice (balb / c) weighing 20-30 grams. This study was divided into 4 groups. The treatment in the form of treadmill activity is carried out once with heating for 5 minutes and core for 30 minutes. This study used a True Experimental research design using a Random Control Group Posttest-Only Design research design. The variable measured in this study was muscle IL-6, namely the calf muscle (gastrocnemious and soleus muscles) of the left and right legs of each subject 24 hours after acute physical activity. Acute physical activity causes the release of interleukin-6 by myofibers. Based on the analysis results showed that there was a significant effect of low, medium, and high intensity acute physical activity on muscle IL-6 levels (p = 0.05). In addition, it also showed that the highest average muscle IL-6 level was the high intensity treatment group with a value of 325.17267 mg / dL. These results prove that high-intensity acute physical activity improves IL-6 levels in the muscle muscle model of diabetes mellitus mice.

Abstract

Poetry translation presents a unique challenge, as it requires maintaining a delicate balance between semantic fidelity and the preservation of the aesthetic qualities of the target text. This study aims to evaluate the quality of poetry translations produced by university students both with and without the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI), using four assessment criteria based on Nababan's (2012) framework: accuracy, acceptability, readability, and poeticness. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with an evaluation instrument using a three-point scale, where a score of 3 indicates high quality, 2 denotes moderate quality, and 1 reflects low quality. Data were obtained from poetry translations evaluated by experienced raters using a standardized rubric, with results analyzed in terms of frequency distribution and percentages. Findings reveal that in AI-assisted translations, the highest score attainment was observed in readability (52.76%), followed by acceptability (51.14%), accuracy (50.39%), and poeticness (24.34%) as the lowest. In contrast, in translations without AI, the highest score attainment was also found in readability (34.76%), followed by accuracy (33.06%), acceptability (32.43%), and poeticness (12.33%). This comparison indicates that AI use consistently enhances accuracy, acceptability, and readability scores, yet shows limited capacity to improve poeticness significantly. This aspect requires creativity, stylistic sensitivity, and nuanced linguistic judgment beyond the current capabilities of AI systems.

Abstract

Abstract

Some preparation techniques, either conventional or advanced, have been provided. Advanced technique may overcome the limitations of conventional techniques. Recently, not all fertility clinics in Indonesia are able to provide advanced preparation techniques. Some techniques require expensive equipments and can only be used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Some fertility clinics use a modified procedure, namely the combination of density gradient centrifugation with a swim-up method for the preparation of the sperm to be used in ART. This study aimed to determine whether the modified density gradient centrifugation, which is density gradient centrifugation followed by a swim-up, is able to yield better results than conventional density gradient centrifugation. This study was a laboratory experimental pre and pos-test control group design. Population was all adult men aged 21-40 years old and the sampling unit was the man donor's semen which fulfilled inclusion criterias, collected during the periode of the study. Sample size was eight. Sperm analysis were done before and after preparation in conventional and modified group. Descriptive comparation analysis have been used. This study obtained NMSR 7.9+5.5 million/ejaculate and recovery rate (RR) 27.66+11.8 %. RR was lower compared to RR obtained conventional DGC method. RR might be lower because in modified DGC samples undergo two steps selection while conventional DGC only one step selection. But conventional DGC samples should be centrifuged twice, therefore sperms might experience more trauma. Lower RR sperm does not exclude the possibility to be used for ART, because still within the required number for all TRBs. In conclusion, modified DGC preparation method obtained lower NMSR and RR, nevertheless harvested sperms can still be used in all kind of ART.

Abstract

The pandemic of Covid-19 affected entire daily human life worldwide, including sports activities among athletes. An athlete was pushed to suit their routine activities with a new health protocol for Covid-19 prevention. Some of them were programmed to train at home with a moderate density of exercise, but others were still in a high density of exercise. This study compared the serum level of hemoglobin (Hb), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and hepcidin among athletes with a high versus moderate exercise density training program during the pandemic. Thirty-four indoor soccer athletes of a soccer football school in Malang voluntarily registered as a subject. Half of them received moderate exercise density exercise programs, and others received high-density exercise programs during June-July 2020. Interleukin-6 and hepcidin level mean was found significantly lower in the moderate group compared to the high-density group. Hemoglobin level mean was found not different between those groups. The lower density of exercise influenced on IL-6 and hepcidin serum level of athlete, but not on hemoglobin level.
