Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of the phonics method on the development of English reading and speaking abilities in children aged 4–5 years at Happy Kids Kindergarten. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design. The participants consisted of 20 children, divided into a control group (n = 10) and an experimental group (n = 10). Data were collected using a structured observation checklist that measured eight indicators of reading and speaking abilities. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. Results: The results showed that the experimental group achieved a mean score of 27.5 (85.9%), which was categorized as “Developing as Expected” (BSH), higher than that of the control group, which obtained a mean score of 20.4 (63.75%) in the category of "Starting to Develop" (MB). The t-test confirmed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), indicating that the phonics method had a positive effect on children’s English reading and speaking abilities. Novelty: This study contributes to the simultaneous measurement of reading and speaking abilities within a single research design in the context of Indonesian EFL learners aged 4–5 years. Unlike previous studies, which have mostly focused on reading outcomes in L1 or ESL contexts, this study demonstrates that phonics is also effective in improving pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, and confidence in early EFL learners.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test the Puzzle education game on children's cognitive and language abilities. To see the effect of Puzzle media, researchers used a quasi-experimental method; nonquivalent control group design. The research subjects were children of Group B, Group I in Bandung District. Data collection using observation, portfolio. The conclusion from the analysis is that there is an influence of Puzzle education media on the cognitive and language abilities of children in Group B of Cluster 1 in Bandung District, Tulungagung Regency. With educational Puzzle game media, cognitive and language development is better than using magazines or children's worksheets. Abstract

As the number of full-time working parents continues to rise, so does the demand for high-quality daycare services. However, many daycare centers still lack structured learning programs that support the holistic development of young children. This study responds to that gap by developing a creative learning model grounded in play-based learning, specifically designed for caregivers at Sunshine Daycare, an early childhood center under the management of the Early Childhood Education Department (PG-PAUD), UNESA. Using the ADDIE model within a Research and Development (R&D) framework, data were collected through observations and interviews with caregivers and parents. The results reveal that implementing play-based creative learning empowers caregivers to plan engaging daily activities and signature programs that foster children's development across multiple domains: language, cognitive, motor, moral-religious, and socio-emotional. These findings underscore the urgency of integrating structured, child-centered approaches in daycare settings to ensure purposeful and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Abstract

Independence in early childhood is an important aspect of character development. Among 13 children, Ananda EAS demonstrated the most prominent level of independence. Communication plays a crucial role in fostering children's independence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of persuasive communication by teachers and parents in developing children's independence. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that teachers and parents apply persuasive communication in different but complementary ways. Teachers use a fun and structured approach in learning activities, while parents apply a gentle and emotional approach in daily life. The consistent use of persuasive communication contributes to the development of children's independence, particularly in responsibility and discipline. However, the aspect of sharing at school and responsibility at home still needs improvement.

Abstract

Keterampilan proses sains merupakan proses sains yang meliputi keterampilan dalam mengamati, membandingkan, mengklasifikasikan, mengukur, dan mengkomunikasikan. keterampilan proses sains penting dilakukan anak agar memiliki kemampuan mengamati berbagai perubahan yang terjadi. Metode proyek spin water memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anak dalam bereksperimen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji adanya pengaruh metode proyek spin water terhadap keterampilan proses sains anak usia 5-6 tahun yang dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan proses sains. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan jenis one group pre-test and post-test design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah anak usia 5-6 tahun dengan sampel berjumlah 23 anak. Instrumen penelitian yang diamati ada empat, yakni kemampuan mengetahui cara mengamati suatu benda, kemampuan mengetahui cara bereksperimen, kemampuan mengetahui cara mengukur suatu benda, dan kemampuan mengetahui cara mengkomunikasikan hasil proyek. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Match and Pairs melalui program komputer IBM SPSS 25. Hasil analisis penelitian sangat signifikan yaitu diketahui Asymp. Sig (2- tailed) sebesar 0,001 bahwa nilai tersebut lebih kecil dari nilai 0,05, (0,001 <0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh metode proyek spin water terhadap keterampilan proses sains anak usia 5-6 tahun.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perilaku kemandirian anak di TK Islam Darul Muttaqin yang belum maksimal dan belum sesuai perkembangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji pengaruh metode read aloud dalam bercerita terhadap kemandirian anak usia 4-5 tahun. Penelitian eksperimen ini menggunakan metode penelitian pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian pre-experimental, one group pre-test dan post-test design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah anak kelompok A di TK Islam Darul Muttaqin Nganjuk dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 23 anak. Terdapat 3 indikator kemandirian yang diamati oleh peneliti, yaitu pantang menyerah, percaya diri, dan berani mencoba. Penelitian ini dilakukan sejumlah 8 kali pertemuan dengan pre-test 1 kali, treatment 6 kali, dan post-test 1 kali. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi dan menggunakan teknik analisis data dengan Uji Wilcoxon. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan Uji Wilcoxon yang dibantu dengan SPSS for Windows Versi 22, diketahui hasil hitung Asymp. Sig. (-2 tailed) 0.000 < 0.50, maka sesuai dasar pengambilan keputusan Uji Wilcoxon dapat diketahui bahwa Ho ditolak, sehingga Ha diterima. Pengaruh metode read aloud dalam bercerita terhadap kemandirian anak yaitu dapat mengajarkan anak untuk pantang menyerah, percaya diri, dan berani mencoba.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kemampuan kognitif yang perlu ditingkatkan di pendidikan abad 21 ini. Kemampuan berpikir kritis penting untuk dikembangkan sebagai dasar kehidupan mendatang, yaitu mencakup tentang pengambilan keputusan dalam memecahkan masalah dimulai dari lingkungan sekitar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui validitas kelayakan dan keefektifan media Damkar (video animasi mitigasi kebakaran) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak usia 5-6 tahun. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu Research and Development dengan menggunakan model ADDIE. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik penelitian data observasi dan angket pada subjek penelitian sebanyak 20 anak usia 5-6 tahun. Validitas media dilakukan melalui uji validasi ahli materi dengan skor 81,8%, dan validasi skor validasi ahli media 90% yang artinya media video animasi mitigasi kebakaran sangat layak digunakan. Uji efektivitas dilakukan dengan uji Wilcoxon SPSS 22 dan menunjukkan asymp. Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 dengan nilai signifikansi < 0,05 atau 0,000 < 0,05, maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Artinya terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada pre-test dan post-test sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa media Damkar efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak usia 5-6 tahun.
