Abstract

Entering the digital era, the culture of human life is increasingly inseparable from the use of electromagnetic waves which are very useful in supporting human life, but in the other side, it also has negative impacts in the form of radiation that threatens human health. Only few people realize that ornamental plants have many benefits other than as a decoration inside or outside the room. Several types of ornamental plants have the ability to absorb electromagnetic radiation emitted by electronic equipment. In this simple physics research, measurements were made to compare the absorption of several types of ornamental plants to electromagnetic wave radiation, those are karet kebo, betel, succulent, ivy plant, and snake plant. The research results show that snake plant’s ability to absorb electromagnetic wave radiation is the greatest than others. Research conducted on ivy shows that the absorption of ornamental plants to electromagnetic wave radiation is influenced by the distance of the plant to the radiation source, where the closer the distance between the ornamental plants to the source of electromagnetic wave radiation is, the greater the absorption of radiation occurs, resulting in a decrease in the intensity of electromagnetic radiation also getting bigger. The trend of changes in the absorption of electromagnetic wave radiation shows a decrease in each increase in distance according to the exponential graph.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD), a medical illness, is characterized by a steady deterioration in kidney function. A disease's ability to be prevented and effectively significantly treated depends on early diagnosis. The addition of filter feature selection to the machine learning algorithm has been done to detect CKD. However, the quality of its feature subset is not optimal. Wrapper feature selection can improve the quality of these feature subsets. Therefore, we proposed wrapper feature selection and binary whale optimization algorithm (BWOA) to enhance the accuracy of early CKD detection. We also make data improvements to improve accuracy, namely the preprocessing process with the median and modus techniques. We used a public dataset of 250 medical records of kidney sufferers and 150 completely healthy people. There are 24 features in this dataset. The test results showed that adding BWOA feature selection can increase accuracy. The proposed method produced an accuracy of 100%. Further research on these methods can be used to develop expert systems for early detection of CKD.

Abstract

Apple, a nutrient-rich fruit belonging to the genus Malus, is recognized for its fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, giving health benefits such as improved digestion and reduced cardiovascular disease risk. In Indonesia, the soil and climate create favorable conditions for apple cultivation. However, it is essential to prioritize the health of the plant. Biotic factors, such as fungal infections like apple scabs and pests, alongside abiotic factors like temperature and soil moisture, impact the health of apple plants. Computer vision, specifically convolution neural network (CNN) inception-V3, proves effective in aiding farmers in identifying these diseases. The output layer in inception-V3 is essential, generating predictions based on input data. For this reason, in this paper, we add an output layer in inception-V3 architecture to increase the accuracy of apple leaf disease classification. The added output layers are dense, dropout, and batch normalization. Adding a dense layer after flattening typically consolidates the extracted features into a more compact representation. Dropout can help prevent overfitting by randomly deactivating some units during training. Batch normalization helps normalize activations across batches, speeding up training and providing stability to the model. Test results show that the proposed method produced an accuracy of 99.27% and can increase accuracy by 1.85% compared to inception-V3. These enhancements showcase the potential of leveraging computer vision for precise disease diagnosis in apple crops.

Abstract

Car detection on the road through computer vision is crucial for improving safety, as it plays an essential role in spotting nearby vehicles and preventing fatal accidents. Additionally, car detection significantly contributes to the advancement of autonomous vehicles. Previous explorations of car detection using YOLOv5 have revealed weaknesses regarding its resulting mean average precision (mAP). This scenario led to the development of a more advanced version of you only look once (YOLO), namely YOLOv8. Consequently, this study aimed to adopt YOLOv8 for automatic car detection on the road. YOLOv8 is proven to perform better than the previous version. A dataset comprising video frame images was captured on the highway in Semarang, Indonesia. The experiment results indicated that the proposed approach achieved impressive precision, recall, and mAP values, reaching 94.1%, 98.2%, and 98.8%, respectively. The proposed approach enhanced mAP and training time when compared with YOLOv5. Therefore, it was concluded that the proposed method was better suited for real-time car detection.
