Abstract

The Indonesian Constitutional Court Decision Number 135/PUU-XXI/2024 marks a fundamental change in Indonesia's constitutional and electoral law system by annulling the application of the full concurrent elections concept which combines the National General Election (Pemilu) and the Regional Head Election (Pilkada)—as regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. The Court determined that the unification of national and local election schedules contradicts the principle of regional autonomy (otonomi daerah) and blurs the meaning of popular sovereignty at the local level as guaranteed by Article 18 of the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945). Through this ruling, the Court ordered that Pilkada must be held separately from the national Pemilu, issuing a conditionally constitutional verdict that reinterprets Article 201 of the Election Law to prevent a legal vacuum (rechtsvacuum). This research utilizes a normative juridical approach with descriptive and conceptual analysis methods, through a review of relevant laws and regulations, Constitutional Court decisions, and academic literature. The analysis results indicate that the Court’s considerations encompass three main dimensions: (1) Philosophical, relating to the protection of popular sovereignty in the regions; (2) Sociological, concerning the workload of election organizers and the validity of election results; and (3) Juridical, regarding the balance between efficiency and the principle of substantive democracy. The juridical implications of this decision include a change in the electoral system from full concurrent to separated elections, the need for legal harmonization between the Election Law and its implementing regulations, and the formation of a new political cycle (year “X” for the National Pemilu and “X+2” for the National Simultaneous Pilkada). From the regional autonomy perspective, the separation of election timing positively impacts the strengthening of local political identity, increased space for the articulation of regional aspirations, and the opening of opportunities for regional head candidates from smaller or independent parties. Conversely, new challenges also arise, such as increased political and budgetary costs, the potential for political transactions in the nomination process, and policy fragmentation between the central and regional governments. Overall, Constitutional Court Decision No. 135/PUU-XXI/2024 not only affects the technical aspects of election administration but also reconstructs the relationship between the central and regional governments within the context of Indonesia's constitutional democracy. This decision serves as a crucial momentum for lawmakers to rearrange the concurrent election system to better align with the principles of regional autonomy, electoral justice, and government effectiveness.

Abstract

Single parenthood is a situation where only the father or mother is solely responsible for the family's well-being after a divorce. The change from a couple to a single parent often has psychological impacts that, if not properly managed, can reduce quality of life. Quality of life is understood as how an individual interprets their life satisfaction based on their actual circumstances and the ideal standards prevailing in their environment. This study used qualitative methods, with participant selection using thepurposive sampling. The participants consisted of seven people, consisting of three single fathers and four single mothers with varying numbers of children, varying levels of education, aged under 60, having been single parents for more than a year, and not yet remarried. Single parent status included divorced and divorced. Data analysis used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore the subjective meaning of participants' life experiences. The results indicate that the quality of life of single parents after divorce is influenced by emotional conditions, psychological challenges, coping strategies, social support, and gratitude practices. This research is expected to contribute to the development of psychology and serve as a reference to encourage single parents to improve their quality of life. Abstract

Background: Indonesia’s agricultural sector generates more than 150 million tons of biomass waste annually, making up nearly 60% of the country’s organic waste and many farmers burn it openly. Although inexpensive, this practice accelerates greenhouse gas emissions and worsens environmental degradation. This research aims to develop an integrated technological approach for agro-industrial waste management that minimizes emissions, creates economic value, and promotes circular economy principles in support of Indonesia’s net-zero emission target. Methods: This study employs a mixed-method approach by integrating Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. The system consists of Sorcast, an intelligent forecasting tool using Random Forest and LSTM models to predict sorghum yield and biomass composition; Smartbriq, an AR-based application that provides step-by-step guidance for producing biomass briquettes; and E-Cowaste, a digital marketplace that facilitates traceable biomass waste transactions with features such as carbon calculators, smart contracts, and certification mechanisms. Findings: Results show that the integrated system, referred to as SWTS, enhances resource efficiency and significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions by enabling predictive analytics and real-time monitoring. Smartbriq increases farmer engagement by simplifying briquette production, while E-Cowaste improves transparency and accountability in biomass trading. Conclusion: The findings suggest that integrated digital systems provide an effective alternative to reducing agricultural waste, mobilize farmers toward sustainable practices, and generate both economic and environmental benefits. Novelty/Originality of this article: The novelty lies in combining AI-based forecasting, AR-assisted briquette production, and blockchain-enabled waste trading into a unified, scalable model for transforming agricultural waste sustainably in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent to which the Mondly and Busuu applications can enhance students' listening skills in learning Arabic. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with an unequal control group model. There were two groups, each consisting of 15 people, who studied using the applications for a certain period. The data collected through initial and final tests were then analyzed using several statistical tests, such as normality, homogeneity, paired t-tests, and independent t-tests. The results showed that both apps significantly improved listening skills, as evidenced by the large difference between the pre-test and post-test scores and a significance value of p < 0.001. However, the comparison test between the two groups revealed no significant difference in post-test scores using Mondly andBusuu (p = 0.327). These results indicate that both applications are equally effective in improving Arabic speaking comprehension. This study confirms that mobile learning can be a good supporting tool for flexible, interactive language learning that is tailored to the needs of learners.

Abstract

The Yasin recitation tradition is a deeply rooted religious practice in Muslim communities, particularly in Indonesia. This activity is typically performed routinely in mosques, prayer rooms (surau), and homes, involving the recitation of Surah Yasin, tahlil (recitation of the Quran), and communal prayer. From an Islamic educational perspective, this tradition is not merely a ritual worship but also a means of moral, spiritual, social, and cultural development for Muslims. This article aims to examine the meaning, value, and relevance of the Yasin recitation tradition in shaping the character and religious awareness of the Muslim community. The Wirid Yasin tradition is a religious practice deeply rooted in the life of the Malay ethnic group. Beyond being a spiritual ritual, this tradition contains significant educational dimensions. This study aims to uncover the Islamic educational values contained within the Wirid Yasin tradition. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research findings indicate that Wirid Yasin is not merely the recitation of holy verses, but a means of internalizing the values of aqidah (faith), ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), and character education (akhlak). This tradition functions as an effective non-formal educational institution in maintaining social cohesion and the spiritual strengthening of the Malay community. Abstract

Abstract

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most widely used imaging modalities for diagnosing brain abnormalities due to its high spatial resolution and ability to visualize soft tissues in detail. However, manual interpretation of MRI images is time-consuming and subjective. This research aims to analyze the performance of the Random Forest algorithm in detecting brain tumors from MRI images. The dataset used consists of 253 brain MRI images obtained from the Kaggle Brain Tumor MRI Dataset, divided into two classes: tumor and non-tumor. The research stages include preprocessing, feature extraction using Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), model training with Random Forest, and performance evaluation. Preprocessing steps such as grayscale conversion, noise reduction, contrast enhancement, and normalization were applied to improve image quality. The model achieved an accuracy of 86.27%, precision of 90%, recall of 87.1%, and F1-score of 88.52%, indicating strong classification capability. The results show that the Random Forest algorithm can effectively identify tumor patterns based on texture and intensity features, making it a reliable approach for supporting early brain tumor diagnosis and potentially applicable in developing automated computer-aided diagnostic systems in medical imaging.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges of da’wah communication in responding to the normalization of romantic behavior among adolescents in Banda Aceh. The research focuses on identifying the forms of romantic behavior, the responses of da’wah actors, and the barriers that arise in delivering moral messages within the youth digital culture. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and social observation. The research informants consist of five individuals, including one young da’i and four adolescents from diverse social backgrounds. The findings reveal that romantic behaviors such as riding in pairs, spending time together privately at cafés, and displaying intimacy on social media are increasingly perceived as socially acceptable. This normalization is driven by digital media influence, popular cultural trends, the weakening of parental supervision, and adolescents’ psychological need for social recognition. Adolescents do not reject religion itself, but rather resist forms of da’wah that are judgmental, rigid, and lacking communicative sensitivity. Instead, they prefer da’wah that is persuasive, conversational, uses contemporary youth language, and is disseminated through social media and direct engagement in their social environment. The analysis employs the Uses and Gratifications Theory, which explains that adolescents actively select and consume media content based on their psychological and social needs. Consequently, romantic content becomes more attractive than conventional religious communication. The study concludes that the effectiveness of da’wah in the digital era depends on the ability of preachers to adapt their communication strategies, optimize the use of social media, and provide alternative gratifications that align with Islamic values.
