Abstract

The integration of Islamic finance into Indonesia's national economic strategy is seen as a key driver of sustainable economic growth. However, the Islamic banking sector, despite its potential, continues to face structural and market-related limitations. This study investigates the contribution of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) to Indonesia’s economic growth following the merger of three state-owned Islamic banks Bank Syariah Mandiri, BRI Syariah, and BNI Syariah by focusing on the post-merger opportunities and challenges. The research aims to answer two central questions: (1) What opportunities does BSI hold for contributing to economic development in Indonesia? and (2) What are the major internal and external challenges it must overcome to achieve these goals? Using a qualitative research design, the study gathers primary data through interviews with key informants from BSI branch offices in Aceh, Manado, and West Java, and analyzes secondary data from BSI’s official financial documentation. The results indicate that BSI has consolidated a robust capital base of over Rp239.56 trillion and improved its capacity for financial intermediation, making it a strategic institution aligned with the endogenous growth theory. Nonetheless, BSI’s potential is constrained by issues including underdeveloped governance integration, technological lags, limited regulatory autonomy, and low financial literacy. These findings suggest that while BSI holds strong prospects for supporting inclusive national development, realizing its full potential requires overcoming institutional, technological, and educational gaps. Strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing literacy programs, and harmonizing regulatory policies are essential to maximize BSI’s contribution to Islamic financial and economic advancement in Indonesia.

Abstract

The skin is one of the most important parts of the human body, serving vital functions such as protecting internal organs from injury, shielding against direct bacterial exposure, regulating body temperature, and more. However, the skin is also susceptible to diseases, one of which is skin cancer. Skin cancer can be extremely dangerous if not treated promptly, as it can lead to death. Therefore, early detection is crucial. This study proposes a technology-based solution by classifying skin cancer using a convolutional neural network (CNN) with a ResNet50 architecture implemented into a mobile application via a REST API using Flask. The HAM10000 dataset, consisting of 10,015 skin lesion images across seven classes, was used for model training. Various testing scenarios were conducted to determine the optimal parameter combination. The best results were achieved with an accuracy of 83.84%, precision and recall of 83%, and an F1-score of 83%, using a training data configuration of 70%, dropout of 0.4, and a batch size of 64. The model implemented in this Android application can perform early detection of skin cancer quickly, practically, and easily accessible to the general public, though healthcare professionals must still supervise it. However, although this model can assist users in making early predictions, the prediction results from this model are only a tool for early detection and do not replace clinical diagnosis by professional medical personnel.2) Figure 8 shows the display for taking pictures through the gallery or camera. Users can choose the image they want to upload from the gallery or the camera to be analysed and predicted by the model.

Abstract

Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) is a type of pavement on roads that has a cover layer with an asphalt aggregate mixture structure. The AC-BC layer functions to maintain resilience and stability on roads resulting from the effects of weather and vehicle loads. The aim is to determine the effect of pure asphalt on the specifications of the Asphal Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC), to determine the effect of temperature variations and collisions on the specifications of the Asphal Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC), and to determine the effect of the composition of the asphalt mixture on the specifications of the Asphal Concrete Binder Course ( AC-BC). From the 5 tests of asphalt, a penetration value of 62.6 mm, a melting point of 50 oC, a ductility value of 150 cm, an asphalt mass of 1.0618 gr, and a loss of asphalt mass of 0.36%. The test results identified that the AC-BC asphalt used complied with SNI 06-2456-1991 and SNI 2432-2011 standards. The marshall characteristic values for each asphalt content with temperature variations of 150 oC, 160 oC and 170 oC obtained from the test results met the 2018 Bina Marga specifications, with the ideal mixing temperature at 150 oC and 160 oC. The marshall characteristic value indicates that the mixing composition can increase the ability of the pavement, where a high temperature increase will cause the mixed material to overheat and burn so that it is easily deformed, unstable, and bleeding will occur. The effect of temperature changes can reduce stability and reduce performance on AC-BC concrete pavements. Compaction when mixing asphalt identifies air voids and stability values according to SNI with the ideal number of collisions, namely 75 and 80 collisions.
