Abstract

This article discusses the use of the Tikrar as a method for memorizing hadith on limited face-to-face learning and its effect on students’ hadith memorization activities. Tikrar method refers to the memorizing method that emphasizes reading repetition so it can be a longterm memory for children. The research in this article was conducted by using a descriptivequalitative method. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, and documentation techniques with the researcher as the main instrument. The results showed that the implementation of the Tikrar method was applied by each student in the class by speaking out loud under the teacher’s guidance. At the end of the meeting, students were asked to reread the hadith that they had recited without reading the text. Based on the results of observation, interviews, and documentation, the tikrar method could make students easier to memorize hadith. The effectiveness of the Tikrar method in rote learning activities like memorizing the Al-Qur'an and memorizing hadith as the results of this research, produced conclusions and recommendations for the Islamic schools to use the Tikrar method in learning Al-Qur’an and Hadith.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the use of idioms in TV Narrative opinions, which causes its own problems because not all readers have the same understanding of the idioms used. The author uses idioms in opinions as a form of expression to convey his opinion. Idioms are also used to shorten the text so that it is more concise and straightforward. This study aims to define two forms of idioms, namely idioms based on their level of connection and their constituent elements, as well as to explain their meanings so that they can be understood by readers. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection using the observation and note-taking methods. Then, the analysis technique applies the method from Miles and Huberman. The data sources used for this study are based on 16 online opinion articles from Narasi TV. The results show that out of 16 opinion articles, 14 articles contain idiomatic expressions with a total of 22 expressions. Of the 22 idioms found, based on their level of attachment, there were 6 full idioms and 16 partial idioms. Meanwhile, based on their constituent elements, there were 6 body name idioms, 1 color idiom, 2 animal name idioms, and 13 word class idioms. The findings show that idioms and word class idioms are widely used in Narasi TV opinion articles. This indicates that Narasi TV opinion writers want to convey criticism and messages using language that is interesting but still understandable to readers. This research can contribute to the study of idiom semantics in the realm of online news opinion media, which is currently still limited.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to understand how multicultural values are represented in language textbooks used in junior high schools (SMP) in Indonesia, considering that language education plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and social awareness. This study aims to identify and analyze the representation of multicultural values reflected in the text and visuals of Indonesian and English textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method, which views language as a social practice. Research data were obtained through documentation, learning observations, and teacher interviews to gain a contextual understanding of students' interpretations of multicultural values. The results show that both textbooks have presented ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity, but the representation is still symbolic and not entirely critical. Multicultural values are more dominant in the visual aspect than in the text, while the integration between the two is still weak. These findings confirm that language textbooks are not merely linguistic learning tools, but also ideological means that shape students' social awareness. Therefore, this study recommends developing textbooks and pedagogical strategies that are more reflective, contextual, and oriented towards multicultural character education.

Abstract

Satire language style in literary works can be used as a medium for conveying social criticism. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the satire used in the Webtoon "Trickster" and then apply these findings to learning problems. The goal is to facilitate students understanding, particularly of social criticism in anecdotal texts. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected using simak and catat techniques through documentation studies. The simak technique involved analyzing comic panels, including visuals, dialogue bubbles, and narrative elements. The catat technique served as a follow-up to the data collected through simak techniques. The data analysis process included data reduction, data presentation, conclusions, and data verification. The results of this study revealed the satire in the Webtoon "Trickster" and the social criticism it contains. These satire styles are grouped into four types: irony, cynicism, sarcasm, and satire. Although numerous studies have addressed the issue of figurative language, there are still few that specifically link it to social criticism and use webtoons as a medium for application.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study examines the effectiveness of the Happy Holiday program in enhancing elementary students’ speaking skills through engaging, value-based learning activities grounded in Islamic teachings. Speaking ability is a fundamental component of children’s communicative competence, yet many students in Magelang City continue to experience difficulties in expressing ideas confidently in public settings. Methodology: Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research involved 193 students from grades III–V across several schools, with data collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with students and parents, and documentation of learning activities. Thematic analysis revealed that the program successfully created an enjoyable, interactive, and low-pressure environment that improved students’ fluency, vocabulary mastery, clarity of expression, and willingness to speak. Main Findings: Activities such as storytelling about the Prophet’s companions, collaborative discussions, and Islamic-themed educational games not only enhanced students’ linguistic performance but also strengthened moral values such as honesty, responsibility, respect, and self-confidence. Integrating ethical character formation into speaking practice proved effective in fostering polite and meaningful communication. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in its development of a culturally rooted pedagogical model that merges non-formal learning, Islamic character education, and oral language development an approach rarely explored in Indonesian elementary education research. By demonstrating that holiday-based programs can reduce gadget dependency while enriching both communication skills and moral awareness, this study offers an innovative framework for alternative language learning initiatives that are contextually relevant, enjoyable, and character-oriented.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the character of Ang San Mei in Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s novel Jejak Langkah through the lens of Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminism. Ang San Mei is a Chinese female character who experiences multiple layers of subordination as a woman, a member of an ethnic minority, and a colonial subject; however, she has not yet been specifically studied using existentialist feminist theory that takes into account the ethnicity and colonialism she experiences. The character of Ang San Mei was chosen for analysis because, although she has been depicted as fighting for her existence, studies on her remain very limited. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques. The data sources consist of the narratives, dialogues, and actions of the character Mei in the novel Jejak Langkah. The analytical framework is based on Beauvoir’s four strategies of transcendence: women can work, women can be intellectuals, women can work to achieve social transformation, and women refuse to internalize their subjugation. The results of the study indicate that Mei embodies all four forms of transcendence: asserting economic independence through her work as a teacher and cook; demonstrating intellectualism through geopolitical analysis and organizational awareness; contributing to social transformation through her involvement in Angkatan Muda and propaganda activities; refused to internalize her otherness by defining herself through her own will and idealism. This study concludes that despite experiencing layered subordination, Mei succeeded in transcending her social limitations and asserting herself as an autonomous subject through transcendence.
