Abstract

Coconut is massively consumed by people due to its high nutrition. The coconut splitting process usually conventionally performed by empty-handed which tends to high time-consumed and less safety. In this work, coconut splitter was successfully designed by involving tool concept planning, part elements designation, and tool assembly. Tool concept planning consists of design formulation, calculation and selection of machine elements such as frame, splitting cutter, belt, pulley, shaft, and prime motor. The design process was carried out by using computer-aided design Solidworks. The design result has dimension of 860x760x700 mm with two cutters feature using circular saw and wheel which inserted to transmission system V-belt and pulley driven by motor of 2,6 kW with velocity of 332 rpm to achieve 600 pieces coconut splitting per hour. The design of coconut splitter is highly expected to enhance productivity and safety while coconut splitting process.

Abstract

Accurate household electricity consumption prediction is vital for effective energy planning in Indonesia, a nation facing rapid economic growth and technological advancements. Inaccurate predictions can lead to inefficiencies in resource allocation and energy shortages. Traditional methods like ARIMA struggle with non-linear patterns, long-term dependencies, and multivariate relationships critical in understanding electricity consumption dynamics. To address these challenges, this study employs the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm with a multivariate time series approach, chosen for its ability to capture complex patterns and long-term trends. The dataset comprises monthly electricity consumption data (2004–2023) from PT PLN, enriched with macroeconomic and environmental variables like Household Consumption GDP, inflation, and average temperature. The Denton-Chollete method was used to transform quarterly GDP data into monthly intervals, and correlation analysis identified Household Consumption GDP (r=0.98) and Power Contract Additions (r=0.64) as significant predictors. Testing 63 feature combinations, the best (Power Contract Additions, Household Consumption GDP, and Household Electricity Consumption) achieved a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 3.54%. These results highlight LSTM's superiority in handling dynamic and complex electricity consumption patterns and provide a robust predictive tool for PT PLN. This study underscores the importance of exploring additional variables and advanced optimisation techniques to enhance predictive accuracy further.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the kinship between Mandailing and Toba languages through a comparative historical linguistics approach. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method by collecting basic vocabulary data from semantic categories such as body parts, numbers, and natural terms. Lexicostatistics techniques are applied to measure the level of vocabulary similarity, while phonological analysis is carried out to identify sound change patterns. The results of the study indicate that the level of basic vocabulary similarity between Mandailing and Toba languages reaches **65% to 70%**, indicating a close genealogical relationship. Mandailing tends to maintain conservative forms, while Toba shows more innovation in sound patterns and vocabulary structures. Sound change processes such as syncope and assimilation are found as common patterns in the evolution of both languages. Differences in vocabulary and phonological patterns reflect the influence of geographical isolation and cultural interaction, such as the influence of Malay on Mandailing and Batak customs on Toba. This study concludes that Mandailing and Toba have the same linguistic roots in the Austronesian family, but have developed into separate linguistic systems due to the socio-cultural dynamics of their speaking communities. This study provides an important contribution to the study of language kinship in Indonesia and the preservation of regional languages as cultural heritage.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to enhance the English speaking proficiency of youth in Sei Tualang, Labuhanbatu Utara, through the implementation of interactive learning methods. The background of this program lies in the limited exposure and opportunities for rural youth to practice English communicatively, resulting in low confidence, limited vocabulary, and anxiety in speaking. To address this gap, the program designed a four-week interactive learning workshop that utilized student-centered methods such as role-playing, vocabulary games, storytelling, peer discussions, and real-life conversation simulations. The implementation involved both instructional delivery and motivational strategies to create a non-threatening, supportive learning atmosphere. The participants, aged between 13 and 18 years, were actively involved in communicative tasks that gradually increased in complexity. Pre- and post-activity observations and facilitator journals indicated a noticeable improvement in fluency, vocabulary range, pronunciation accuracy, and confidence. Participants demonstrated a higher willingness to communicate in English and showed a growing ability to sustain short conversations on familiar topics. Beyond linguistic outcomes, the program also fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and self-expression among the learners. Despite challenges such as limited access to technological tools and English materials, the creative adaptation of activities to suit the local context ensured the success of the program. This community engagement highlights that interactive and contextualized learning methods can serve as an effective approach to address the language learning needs of youth in under-resourced areas.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic education curriculum encounters various complex challenges stemming from both internal and external factors. Key challenges include the dynamics of globalization, socio-cultural changes, technological advancements, and the need to balance religious values with 21st-century competencies. This study examines these challenges, focusing on issues such as rapid technological progress, the integration of global and local values, and strategies for developing a curriculum that is relevant, flexible, and aligned with modern educational goals. Employing a qualitative approach, the research utilizes literature reviews and expert interviews to analyze the dynamics of curriculum development in Islamic education. The findings reveal that the challenges faced by Islamic education significantly impact both its internal and external dimensions. Internal challenges include achieving the eight national education standards, addressing the demographic bonus resulting from Indonesia's population growth, and tackling character development issues. To remain competitive in the era of globalization and produce graduates who meet contemporary demands, Islamic education must focus on developing human resources capable of adapting to current and future needs. On the other hand, external challenges are more forward-looking, requiring Islamic education to prepare for future demands related to social issues, advancements in technology and information, the growth of creative and cultural industries, and the internationalization of education, including the pursuit of world-class university standards.

Abstract

This article discusses the benefits and benefits of modern technology from a maslahah perspective which aims to provide an explanation regarding the benefits of modern technology on the development of Islamic law, and how it has a negative influence on the development of Islamic law. This article is a literature review sourced from several relevant references to the topic discussed. Data collection techniques come from researching relevant reference sources in the form of journals, articles, websites, books and other scientific works. Islam has full care and attention for its ummah so that it continues the process of exploring the potential of nature and the environment to become the center of a glorious civilization. In this context, there is no conflict between science and Islam, where both work in balance and harmony to create scientific treasure and human civilization that is better than before. Current technological advances cannot be separated from people's lives. We can now know various information that occurs in various parts of the world directly thanks to technological advances (globalization). Previously, we knew the saying "the world is not as wide as a moringa leaf", now that saying should be changed to today's world as wide as a moringa leaf, because the rapid access to information in various parts of the world makes this world seem narrower because we can see what is happening in America for example, even though we are in Indonesia.
