Abstract

Background: Oral candidiasis is an opportunistic infection in the oral cavity. This infection is caused by the fungus Candida albicans. The most important virulent attribute of this fungus is its ability to form biofilms, which can adhere to mucosa, epithelial lining, organs, prostheses or dentures. The formed biofilm is resistant to antifungal drugs. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaf extract on the inhibition of Candida albicans biofilm formation in vitro. Methods: This type of research is experimental study using post tests with control group design. Fungus used in this study was Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Determination of minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) were conducted by microdilution method. Inhibition test of C. albicans biofilm formation was carried out using the polystyrene microplate assay method. Concentration of extracts used in this study were 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.13% and 1.57%. Inhibitory activity of biofilm was measured using a crystal violet (CV) assay. Results: The results showed that MIC of Moringa leaf extract against the fungus C. albicans was at a concentration of 6.25%. Moringa leaf extract starting at a concentration of 3.13% already has had ability to inhibit formation of C. albicans biofilm. Conclusion:  It can be concluded that Moringa leaf extract can inhibit formation of Candida albicans biofilm, so it can be developed as an alternative herbal ingredient to prevent oral candidiasis.EFFECT OF MORINGA (Moringa oleifera) LEAF EXTRACT ON IN VITRO INHIBITION OF Candida albicans BIOFILM

Abstract

To create good medical record services, it is necessary to manage good medical records in accordance with procedures and guidelines from Permenkes No. 24 of 2022 concerning Medical Records. However, based on an initial survey research, the Sri Padang Health Center did not use electronic medical records, and according to information from the Tebing Tinggi Health Office’s Data Recording and Reporting Unit, the Sri Padang Health Center was still experiencing delays in data entry and annual data reporting. This study aims to find out how the medical record management system is at the Sri Padang Tebing Tinggi Health Center. The type of qualitative research is descriptive. The research informantsconsisted of 3 main informants: namely the head of medical records, the executor of medical records, and general practitioners, the triangulation informant was 1 person, namely the head of the puskesmas. Informant selection technique with purposive sampling. Data collection techniques with interviews and observation. Research instruments with interview guidelines. The results showed that the medical record management system at the Sri Padang Health Center had not fully used the electronic medical record system, the distribution, coding, indexing, storage, and retention activities were still not optimal, especially the placement of officers, and there were obstacles in the management process, namely inadequate storage support facilities, lack of accuracy of doctors and nurses in filling out medical records, there is no skill development for substitute medical record officers and the confidentiality of medical-records is not maintained because there is no special medical record officer.

Abstract

Low quality healthcare services result in an increase in the number of deaths each year, with an estimated 5.7 to 8.4 million people dying in low and middle-income countries. This figure represents about 15% of total deaths in those countries. The impacts of inadequate services encompass a decrease in societal productivity and potential economic losses for the country of approximately 1.4 to 1.6 trillion annually.The aim of this research is to identify the relationship between the quality of services provided by healthcare professionals and the level of patient satisfaction among outpatient care recipients at Haji Medan General Hospital. The studied population includes all outpatient care patients currently receiving treatment, with a sample size of 120 individuals, selected using the Accidental Sampling method. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with a Cross-Sectional design.Research findings reveal that out of the 120 respondents, there is a relationship between independent variables such as reliability (x1), responsiveness (x2), assurance (x3), empathy (x4), as well as physical evidence (x5), and the dependent variable, which is the level of patient satisfaction (y) among those receiving outpatient care at Haji Medan General Hospital, with a p-value less than 0.05.In analyzing patient satisfaction levels, around 66% of the total 120 respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the healthcare services at Haji Medan General Hospital. Independent variables that exhibit a strong correlation with the dependent variable include reliability, responsiveness, assurance, patient satisfaction level, physical evidence, and empathy. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the quality of services provided by healthcare professionals and the level of patient satisfaction at the hospital.

Abstract

Populasi lanjut usia merupakan fenomena global yang menjadi tren paling signifikan saat ini dan telah terjadi di semua negara dengan berbagai tingkat perkembangan, termasuk Indonesia. Penyakit periodontal merupakan salah satu permasalahan kesehatan oral yang utama di masyarakat dan keparahannya meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya usia. Penyakit periodontal memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap kualitas hidup lanjut usia dan merefleksikan permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkajipengaruh karakteristik sosio-demografi terhadap kondisi jaringan periodontal pada penduduk usia lanjut di Yogyakarta. Penelitian dengan desain potong lintang ini melibatkan 108 responden (n = 108) berusia ≥ 60 tahun. Karakteristik sosio-demografi yang diteliti pada penelitian ini meliputi jenis kelamin, tingkat pendidikan, dan karakteristik wilayah tempat tinggal. Kondisi jaringan periodontal dinilai berdasarkan status perdarahan (bleeding on probing), tingkat kedalaman poket periodontal (pocket depth), dan kehilangan perlekatan jaringan periodontal (clinical attachment loss). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pendidikan dankarakteristik wilayah tempat tinggal berpengaruh terhadap status perdarahan (p = 0,001, p = 0,015) dan rerata kedalaman poket (p = 0,005, p = 0,027), namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap rerata kehilangan perlekatan jaringan periodontal (CAL) (p = 0,148, p = 0,105). Pada penelitian ini, jenis kelamin tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap kondisi jaringan periodontal, baik pada status perdarahan (BOP) (p = 0,399), rerata kedalaman poket (PD) (p = 0,365), maupun rerata kehilangan perlekatan jaringan periodontal (CAL) (p = 0,179). Tingkat pendidikan dan karakteristik wilayah tempat tinggal berpengaruh terhadap kondisi jaringan periodontal (BOPdan PD) pada populasi lanjut usia, sehingga aspek tersebut perlu dipertimbangkan dalam perencanaan intervensi pencegahan penyakit periodontal pada lanjut usia.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a condition when blood glucose in the body is not controlled due to impaired sensitivity of pancreatic cells to produce the hormone insulin. Hypertension is a common public health problem in developing countries. Hypertension that is not treated immediately has an impact on the emergence of degenerative diseases, such as heart disease (Hypertension Heart Disease), end-stage renal failure (End Stage Renal Disease), and peripheral vascular disease. Risk factors such as heart disease, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus (DM) should be monitored regularly so as not to cause more serious complications. This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of the achievement of Minimum Service Standards and to find out how the characteristics of patients with diabetes are and to find out how the relationship between blood sugar levels and blood pressure of patients with diabetes type Mellitus in Health Sector cases of hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in Sembahe Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency. The method used is a qualitative study with a phenomenological method approach, with the focus of the research on clean and healthy living behavior towards the occurrence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The results of this study indicate that it is important to know and prevent hypertension and diabetes mellitus from an early age. With seminars and counseling or education regarding hypertension and diabetes mellitus, this has been carried out for 1 month with the assistance of the Field Supervisor, the village midwife of worship and colleagues - his partner. Door to door counseling, Healthy Gymnastics and health checks have also been carried out once a month to find out how the health condition of the worshipers is.

Abstract

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is a medical condition where blood pressure increases above normal, namely 140/90 mmHg, and carries a risk of illness or death (mortality). This disease is often called a silent disease. Irreversible hypertension and modifiable hypertension are two categories of hypertension risk factors. Smoking, obesity, stress, and a monotonous lifestyle are modifiable factors that can cause hypertension. In this research, secondary data is used. The data used comes from previous research, not from going directly into the field. The research sample received in previous research was 52 people. This research was conducted in Namorih Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, with the aim of revealing how lifestyle and diet have an impact on the number of hypertension cases. The research results show that there are things that can be done to control hypertension, such as changing lifestyles and habits. Genetic factors, daily lifestyle, and daily habits, including smoking, excessive salt consumption, lack of physical activity, poor sleep quality, stress, and alcohol consumption, are causes of hypertension in the elderly. Many people around the world are affected by hypertension, which is a complex health problem. To prevent complications, people should regularly control their blood pressure and live a healthy lifestyle by exercising and reducing their consumption of fatty foods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership style in UPT Puskesmas Kutalimbaru, Deli Serdang Regency. The research method used was an in- depth interview with the Head of UPT Puskesmas Kutalimbaru as the main informant. The results showed that Kutalimbaru Health Center implements collaborative decision making, where employees are involved in the process. Although the final decision remains in the hands of the Head of the Puskesmas, suggestions and opinions from employees are considered. Factors such as distance, time, and human resources are the main considerations in running the program. Good cooperation with health workers and community leaders is emphasized to overcome obstacles. This study provides an in-depth understanding of the leadership style at Kutalimbaru Health Center, which is expected to improve the effectiveness of public health services.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an Android-based student attendance application using React Native technology, with a case study at Politeknik PGRI Banten. Student attendance is crucial in academic activities as it serves as evidence of their presence and contributes to their overall academic assessment. However, the current attendance system at Politeknik PGRI Banten still relies on a website and does not provide a feature for students to view their attendance history. In this study, the author utilizes the JavaScript programming language with the React Native framework to develop an Android-based attendance application. The application leverages QR code scanning technology to optimize the student attendance process. Students can scan the QR code on their student identification cards using their mobile phone camera, and the attendance data will be recorded directly in the database. The development of this attendance application is expected to enhance the technological quality of Politeknik PGRI Banten, in line with the society 5.0 era that requires the utilization of information system technology to improve efficiency and enhance human life quality. Moreover, the application provides convenience for students to access and view their attendance history in each course, which was previously unavailable in the existing attendance system.

Abstract

Skabies merupakan penyakit kulit menular yang banyak terjadi di daerah pemukiman dengan kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi seperti pondok pesantren. Penyakit ini jika tidak ditangani dengan baik akan mengganggu kenyamanan dan dapat menghambat pencapaian hasil belajar. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana perilaku pencegahan skabies remaja putri di Madrasah Aliyah Al-Uswah. Penelitian ini dilakukan di bulan februari 2024 di Pondok Pesantren Al-Uswah Kuala Kabupaten Langkat. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain studi cross-sectional.Populasinya berjumlah 100 remaja putri.Sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan total sampling dengan jumlah 100.Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner perilaku pencegahan skabies. Perilaku dalam menghentikan penyebaran penyakit skabies merupakan variabel terikat, sedangkan pengetahuan dan sikap merupakan Variabel bebas.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian 54% responden menunjukkan perilaku negatif untuk menghentikan penyebaran skabies, 10% responden memiliki sikap yang kurang, dan 55% responden kurang mendapatkan informasi yang tepat. Hasil uji Chi-Square menunjukkan ada hubungan antara sikap dengan perilaku (p=0,002) dan antara pengetahuan dengan perilaku (p=0,019) dalam mencegah penyebaran penyakit skabies. Dari temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada remaja putri yang bersekolah di Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Al Uswah terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku untuk menghindari penyebaran penyakit skabies.  Direkomendasikan untuk melakukan upaya promotif dan preventif seperti edukasi masyarakat tentang Perilaku Pencegahan Skabies dan penyelenggaraan Poskestren (Pos Kesehatan Pesantren) diperlukan koordinasi dengan petugas kesehatan setempat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan dan kepatuhan petugas Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) terhadap penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) melalui kegiatan sosialisasi dan penyebaran poster di lingkungan IPAL Rumah Sakit Umum Mitra Medika Amplas. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini melibatkan wawancara mendalam dengan petugas IPAL, yang menunjukkan bahwa meskipun sebagian besar petugas mematuhi peraturan penggunaan APD saat pengelolaan limbah medis, beberapa masih merasa kurang nyaman saat menggunakannya, terutama karena rasa panas dan pengap. Ketidaknyamanan ini dapat menurunkan konsistensi dalam penggunaan APD, meskipun rumah sakit telah menyediakan APD sesuai Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemahaman petugas tentang bahaya limbah medis cukup baik, seperti risiko infeksi, paparan zat radioaktif, dan cedera benda tajam. Namun, kendala seperti kurangnya pengawasan dan pelatihan berkelanjutan tetap menjadi hambatan. Edukasi yang berkelanjutan, peningkatan kualitas APD, dan evaluasi rutin diperlukan untuk memastikan kepatuhan yang optimal. Selain itu, pentingnya dukungan institusi dalam penyediaan fasilitas yang memadai dan pembentukan budaya keselamatan menjadi faktor kunci dalam keberhasilan penerapan Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja Rumah Sakit (K3RS). Temuan ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan kebijakan keselamatan kerja, menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih aman, serta mendukung implementasi K3RS untuk mengurangi risiko kecelakaan kerja dan penyakit akibat paparan limbah medis.
