Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools is faced with the challenge of conventional media, which results in low motivation and critical thinking skills of students. This study aims to develop Lumio by SMART media through the STEAM approach on the metamorphosis of living things material in elementary schools. This study uses an R&D approach with the MDLC development model. Participants in this study included teachers and 18 third-grade students of SDN Sudo. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, questionnaires, pre-tests, and post-tests. Data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively to assess the feasibility of the product. The results of the validity test from the media validator obtained scores of 94% and 98% with a very valid category. The validity test of the material obtained results of 94% and 96%, in the very valid category. The results of the student and teacher questionnaires also showed positive results, namely 94% and 91% with a very good category, thus indicating that this media is feasible and effective to use. The results of the paired sample T-test, with N-Gain values of 0.86 and 0.68, respectively, showed differences and improvements in student learning outcomes. As a follow-up, Lumio by Smart Media is expected to be used to enhance students' learning experiences. Lumio by SMART Media, with its STEAM approach, is recommended for continuous implementation in elementary school science curricula as a concrete solution to improve educational quality, student motivation, and critical thinking skills. It also serves as a reference for teachers and schools in optimizing the use of innovative learning technologies.

Abstract

Elementary Science and Social Studies (IPAS) instruction often lacks interactive and culturally relevant learning media, limiting students’ engagement and critical thinking. This study aims to develop a Pop-Up Book based on Rembang's local wisdom to enhance fourth-grade students’ critical thinking skills and cultural appreciation. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Participants included two expert validators (material and media), two teachers, and 30 fourth-grade students from two public elementary schools in Rembang Regency. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, classroom observations, and pretest–posttest assessments. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and using N-Gain scores, while qualitative data were examined thematically. The developed Pop-Up Book received a validity score of 95% from experts, indicating very high feasibility. Practicality ratings from teachers and students were 92.5% and 91.8%, respectively. The effectiveness test showed an increase in students’ critical thinking scores, with an average N-Gain of 0.67, categorized as moderate to high. Observational data also revealed increased student engagement, questioning, and cultural awareness during learning activities. The findings demonstrate that the Rembang local wisdom-based Pop-Up Book is valid, practical, and effective for IPAS learning. It provides contextual, engaging instruction that supports critical thinking development while fostering cultural identity in alignment with Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the low creativity and learning outcomes of students in the subject of harmony in ecosystems science and natural sciences through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model. This type of research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The study population included all students of SDN Demaan Jepara in the 2024/2025 academic year, with a purposive sampling sample consisting of grade V as the experiment (34 students) and grade VI as the control (24 students). The instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test of learning outcomes and an observation sheet of student creativity based on four indicators of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were analyzed using a t-test to examine differences in learning effectiveness. The results showed that the experimental group using the PjBL model had a significant increase in creativity and learning outcomes compared to the control group, with a significance value <0.05. The conclusion of the study confirms that the PjBL model is effective as an innovative learning strategy to improve creative thinking skills and student learning outcomes in elementary schools on the subject of harmony in ecosystems science and natural sciences. Practical implications are suggested for teachers to optimize all stages of PjBL with appropriate facilitation to strengthen student involvement and mastery of the material.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The limited use of visual media in mathematics instruction leads to low student understanding of plane geometry. This study aims to develop interactive digital learning media based on Canva that meet the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness for fourth-grade elementary school students. The research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results show that the developed media achieved very high levels of validity and practicality based on evaluations by experts and users. The implementation of the media also had a positive impact on student learning outcomes, as indicated by an increase in average scores from the pretest to the posttest. The media helped students understand the characteristics and properties of plane shapes through more engaging visual presentations and interactive features. In addition, the use of Canva made it easier for teachers to present instructional materials in a systematic and efficient manner. Therefore, Canva-based interactive digital media are appropriate to be used as a supporting tool for mathematics learning in elementary schools. ABSTRAK Keterbatasan penggunaan media visual dalam pembelajaran matematika menyebabkan rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi bangun datar. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media digital interaktif berbasis Canva yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan dengan model ADDIE yang mencakup tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Data diperoleh melalui validasi ahli, angket respons guru dan siswa, serta tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan memperoleh tingkat validitas dan kepraktisan yang sangat tinggi berdasarkan penilaian para ahli dan pengguna. Penerapan media juga berdampak positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari pretest ke posttest. Media ini membantu siswa memahami karakteristik dan sifat bangun datar melalui penyajian visual dan interaksi yang lebih menarik. Selain itu, penggunaan Canva mempermudah guru dalam menyajikan materi secara sistematis dan efisien. Dengan demikian, media digital interaktif berbasis Canva layak digunakan sebagai sarana pendukung pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis Wordwall dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah geometri bangun datar siswa kelas III SD Negeri 2 Brangsong. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental jenis one-group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 30 siswa kelas III. Data hasil belajar diperoleh melalui tes pretest dan posttest, sedangkan dokumentasi dan observasi digunakan untuk mendukung temuan penelitian. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas dan uji t (paired sample t-test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata nilai siswa dari 58,00 pada pretest menjadi 78,93 pada posttest. Uji t menghasilkan nilai signifikansi p 0,001, lebih kecil daripada taraf signifikansi 0,05, sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL berbasis Wordwall terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah geometri bangun datar siswa sesuai langkah-langkah Polya.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of inquiry learning model and mind mapping on the creative thinking ability of fourth grade elementary school students. The research method used is a combination method (Mixed Method Research) with a classroom action research approach and experiments using the Pre-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The results of the study indicate that there are significant differences in students' creative thinking abilities based on the learning model applied. The inquiry learning model is proven to be more effective than mind mapping and conventional methods because it encourages concept exploration, problem solving, and improves high-level thinking skills. The mind mapping model also shows advantages over conventional methods in helping students organize and visualize information. Overall, the inquiry learning model has the most positive impact on students' creativity in understanding subject matter.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of the read-aloud method in enhancing receptive and expressive language skills in early childhood through a qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Using literature from reputable databases (2010–2025), the study filtered 167 identified articles down to 12 core papers for thematic analysis. Findings indicate that the read-aloud method significantly improves story comprehension, vocabulary expansion, and children's ability to communicate and retell stories. Key success factors include active teacher-child interactions, such as expressive intonation, predictive questioning, and two-way dialogue. Beyond linguistic gains, the method strengthens foundational literacy, increases engagement, and fosters a positive attitude toward books. The study concludes that the read-aloud method is a valid, relevant, and essential strategy for early childhood education (ECE) institutions. Implementing this method routinely and structurally is recommended to optimize language and literacy development in young learners. As a proven pedagogical tool, it bridges the gap between basic communication and advanced literacy readiness.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the Torma Code interactive media based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) to enhance fourth-grade students’ critical thinking skills in learning IPAS on the topic of the visual sense. Employing the ADDIE development model—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—the research involved expert validation, practicality testing with teachers and students, and effectiveness testing using pretest–posttest design. The results show that the media, teaching module, and test instruments achieved a “highly valid” classification with an average feasibility score above 90%, demonstrating strong content accuracy, linguistic clarity, and technical quality. The practicality test revealed positive responses from teachers (92.5%) and students (93.6%), indicating that the media are easy to use, engaging, and supportive of meaningful learning. The effectiveness test using paired sample t-test showed significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills (Sig. < 0.05), with an N-Gain score of 0.55 categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that the Torma Code media effectively promotes contextual, collaborative, and student-centered learning. The product is therefore appropriate for broader implementation to support the Merdeka Belajar curriculum and strengthen scientific literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Tri N values Niteni (observing), Niroke (imitating), and Nambahi (developing) into digital learning as an innovative approach to strengthen early literacy skills among elementary school students. Designed using the ADDIE development model, the digital learning media incorporated interactive text, images, animations, and narration to support multisensory literacy development. Data were collected through expert validation, student response questionnaires, and pre-test–post-test assessments conducted in experimental and control classes. The results indicate that the Tri N-based digital media significantly improved students’ early reading and writing abilities, as shown by an increase in the experimental group’s mean score from 70.1 to 85.7 and a moderate N-Gain of 57.76%. Statistical analysis further demonstrated a significant effect on reading (p = 0.000) and writing skills (p = 0.015). Despite positive learning outcomes, expert and student evaluations highlighted the need for improved navigation and instructional clarity. Overall, this study demonstrates that integrating Tri N values into digital learning environments offers a culturally grounded and pedagogically effective model for enhancing early literacy development.

Abstract

This research and development (R&D) aimed to test the feasibility (validity and practicality) and effectiveness of the Child-Friendly Learning-based Interactive Game Educational Media in improving fifth-grade elementary school students' understanding of mathematic The main problem identified was the lack of interactive use of conventional media, resulting in passive, unenthusiastic students, and difficulties in understanding the mathematic material. The development model used was ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), and the study was conducted at Sambiroto Elementary School and Mojosari 2 Elementary School. The results showed that the EDUMIG media had excellent validity (Media Experts 94%, Material Experts 91.5%) and very high practicality (Teachers 97.3%, Students 100%). This media proved significantly effective, as evidenced by the T-Test results of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference in the average scores between the two classes. The increased effectiveness was reinforced by the experimental class' N-Gain value of 0.659 (moderate category), significantly higher than the control class's (0.257, low category). Thus, Educational Interactive Game Media has successfully become a valid, practical, and effective innovative solution for increasing the motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding of mathematic students.
