Abstract

Halal consumption has emerged as a central mode of identity performance among Jakarta’s urban millennial Muslims, intertwining religious obligation with consumer culture. This study examines how young Muslims navigate their religious identity, ethical values, and digital presence through the everyday practices of halal consumption. Moving beyond theological and market-centered frameworks, the research employs a qualitative design combining semi-structured interviews and digital ethnography to examine how halal is performed, curated, and contested in daily life. The findings show that halal is not merely a set of dietary or consumer rules but a performative and relational identity articulated through four key dynamics: the curation of the “Halal Self” on social media; the deployment of halal as moral distinction and cultural resistance; the negotiation of structural constraints on religious agency; and the formation of a Digital Ummah as a space for soft advocacy and peer-based religious knowledge. The study argues that halal consumption represents a multifaceted ethical practice, embedded in the complex interpit’apakalay of affective, technological, and sociopolitical aspects of contemporary Muslim life.

Abstract

This study aims to measure junior high school students' knowledge at Labschool UNTAD Palu regarding the health benefits of exercise. This quantitative descriptive study uses a questionnaire comprising 25 statements across five dimensions of knowledge: Basic Knowledge, Physical Benefits, Mental and Social Benefits, Exercise Habits and Frequency, and Healthy Lifestyle. The questionnaire uses a 5-point Likert scale with the following anchors: Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Neutral (N), Disagree (D), and Strongly Disagree (SD). The determination of knowledge level categories is based on a maximum total score range of 125, where the High category is set at a score range of 100–125 (80–100%), Medium at 75–99 (60–79%), and Low at a score of <75 (<60%). The results showed that the majority of students had a knowledge level in the High category (75% of students). In general, the average total score was 102.5 out of 125, indicating a good understanding of the benefits of exercise across physical, mental, and social perspectives. However, item-by-item analysis found that consistency of behaviour, particularly in the exercise frequency indicator, had the lowest average score (3.75) among all items. The practical implication is that physical education programs need to strengthen the integration between cognitive awareness and behavioural habits, particularly by improving motivational strategies so that students can apply consistency and frequency in exercising regularly.

Abstract

The Betel nut is a plantation commodity with significant economic potential, particularly as an export product. However, marketing activities among farmers and traders still face obstacles, such as limited access to price information, less than optimal promotions, and a narrow distribution network. This study aims to design and develop a web-based betel nut marketing information system that can support the promotion and transaction process. The system development method used refers to the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model, namely the waterfall, starting from user needs analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. This system was created using the PHP programming language with a MySQL database, and is equipped with key features such as product data management, price recording, information publication and communication media between farmers and traders, as well as a payment gateway feature. Testing results using the black box testing approach showed that the system can function according to the design. With this information system, it is expected that betel nut marketing will be more structured, market access will be wider, and farmers and traders will obtain a more competitive selling price.

Abstract

The identification of tea harvesting areas is an important part of tea culture. The use of satellite imagery for this application offers effectiveness. PlanetScope imagery has the advantage of high spatial, spectral, and temporal resolution and is widely used in agricultural and plantation studies. The objective of this study was to map tea pruning areas in the Danau Kembar Tea Plantation, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, using PlanetScope imagery. The images underwent radiometric, geometric correction and were then analyzed spectrally using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to obtain tea vegetation density classes. The image map resulting from this classification was used to identify the spatial distribution of harvesting and non-harvesting areas. The mapping results were validated by field surveys, and accuracy calculations were performed using the confusion matrix method. The findings showed that 250.50 hectares or 90.37% of the study area, are harvesting areas, with mapping accuracy reaching 84.0%. This study can provide an important reference for monitoring plantation land management, production estimation, and tea harvesting.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of hadith with the local cultures of the Bugis, Makassar, and Mandar communities in the Islamization of South Sulawesi. Unlike previous research that predominantly focuses on the historical or political dimensions of Islamization, this study highlights how the core principles of the Prophet Muhammad’s da‘wah—particularly gentleness (rifq), ease (taysīr), wisdom (ḥikmah), and gradualism (tadarruj)—were translated by early scholars into culturally resonant practices. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research analyzes hadith texts, historical sources, ethnographic studies, and empirical data from the da‘wah practices of influential figures : Datuk ri Bandang, Datuk Patimang and Datuk ri Tiro. The findings reveal that Islam was embraced peacefully due to the deep compatibility between Prophetic ethical principles and local cultural values such as siri’ (honor), pacce (solidarity), and sipakatau (human dignity). This harmony is reflected in the Islamized forms of communal traditions, including mabbarazanji, sayyang pattu’du, and other ritual expressions. The study concludes that the success of Islamization in South Sulawesi resulted from adaptive, persuasive, and context-sensitive da‘wah strategies rooted in the Sunnah. These findings offer a compelling model of hadith-based cultural da‘wah that remains highly relevant for contemporary multicultural societies.

This study explored students’ perceptions of using the Mango Languages application to practice conversations and enhance speaking skills. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected from 15 English education students through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis revealed five themes: enhanced confidence, vocabulary and pronunciation development, flexibility and accessibility, motivation and engagement, and challenges and limitations. Based on these identified themes, Mango Languages showed potential in reducing students’ anxiety, improving pronunciation accuracy, and supporting independent learning. However, challenges such as limited conversation topics, lack of direct teacher feedback, and technical barriers were also reported. Therefore, Mango Languages was best positioned as a supplementary tool for improving speaking skills in higher education when integrated with classroom instruction..
