Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the coaching method, academic supervision, and school culture on teacher work motivation in private junior high schools in Lasem District, Rembang Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 62 teachers from various private schools and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics using multiple linear regression. The results showed that, partially, the coaching method had a positive and significant influence on teacher work motivation with a contribution of 32.9%. Academic supervision also significantly affected teacher motivation with a contribution of 34.0%. Furthermore, school culture had a significant effect, contributing 32.8% to teacher motivation. Simultaneously, the three variables coaching, academic supervision, and school culture contributed 49.6% to the variance in teacher motivation. These findings indicate that improving teacher motivation requires an integrative approach. Coaching plays a crucial role in fostering professional awareness and reflection. Academic supervision enhances pedagogical competence through structured, constructive feedback. Meanwhile, a strong and supportive school culture fosters collaboration, trust, and teacher commitment. Therefore, synergy between personal, professional, and institutional support must be continuously strengthened to ensure optimal teacher performance and improve educational quality in private schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership, the GROW ME coaching model, and work motivation on teachers’ instructional innovation in public elementary schools in Bulu District, Rembang Regency. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey design, data were collected from 103 teachers across 18 schools using validated questionnaires. The results of descriptive analysis indicate that all three independent variables are in the “high” category, while instructional innovation also falls into the “high” category. Multiple regression analysis reveals that transformational leadership (β = 0.300, p < 0.05), the GROW ME coaching model (β = 0.266, p < 0.05), and work motivation (β = 0.322, p < 0.05) each have a positive and significant effect on instructional innovation. Among them, work motivation shows the greatest influence. Simultaneously, the three variables contribute 54.2% to variations in instructional innovation, while the remaining 45.8% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The novelty of this research lies in the integrated analysis of leadership, coaching, and motivation variables within the elementary school context, providing practical implications for improving teaching quality through innovation-oriented strategies.

Abstract

The integration of Madurese culture with Islamic teachings is an important aspect in the study of culture and religion. This study examines birrul walidayn not only from a normative perspective but also by exploring its praxis within the culture and education of the Madurese community. The objective is to understand and explain the concept of birrul walidayn as it is embedded in Madurese culture and education. This study utilizes a qualitative approach, employing data collection methods such as interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed through a process that includes reduction, presentation, verification, and the formulation of conclusions. The findings reveal that, according to the Madurese community, birrul walidayn (abhakte ka oreng towa) is a behavior comprising words and/or actions toward one's parents, reflecting devotion, loyalty, obedience, submission, respect, love, and affection, to please the parents. Birrul walidayn refers to a child’s behavior that aligns with values of devotion, loyalty, obedience, submission, respect, and affection, intended to make parents happy with their child's actions. It is not merely about what is spoken or done but is deeply connected to the heart. Actions and speech must align with heartfelt feelings that embody positive values for parents. Birrul walidayn is a social behavioral concept rooted in Islamic teachings derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. The contributions of this study include: enhancing the understanding of contextual Islamic studies, contributing to the fields of anthropology and education, developing social concepts within Islam, and highlighting the relevance of local values in character building.

Abstract

What we mean by Islamic education is the implementation of educational activities carried out in the implementation of education in general, namely formal and non-formal Islamic education or community-based Islamic education based on the Islamic Community Development Movement program which was later termed (Gerbang Salam) which was carried out in Pamekasan Regency. The term "Gate Salam" first appeared in Pamekasan Regency in 2010 based on the passion of the Pamekasan community. Together with community leaders and ulama' who have the same desire, namely to create a society that is based on Islam, so to realize this, this jargon appears which is then escorted and driven by LP2SI (Institute for the Study and Application of Islamic Shari'ah). Islamic education in this case serves as a reinforcement of the Gate Salam program which then enters all sectors and lines of life of the Pamekasan Regency community both in the realm of implementing formal education and implementing non-formal education. The research method used in this case is to use a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, while the informants in this study are community leaders, public officials who researchers consider to have direct involvement in the formulation of the Gate Greetings program. The research method used in this case is to use a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, while the informants in this study are community leaders, public officials who researchers consider to have direct involvement in the formulation of the Gate Greetings program.

Abstract

This research was motivated by an anomaly in the Education Report Card data at SDN Rajek, where the increase in teacher well-being (79.00) was not linear with the low level of student well-being (66.30). This phenomenon indicates a barrier to the transmission of positive emotions within the school climate. This research aims to formulate a solution model to convert teacher well-being into Social Emotional Competence (SEC), which impacts students. Using a qualitative case study method, data was collected through interviews, observations, and document review. The results introduce the "RSI-SEC Bridge" model, which integrates three main pillars: Resilience, Systemic Competence, and Instructional Competence. This strategy transforms teachers' personal capacities into emotionally charged pedagogical practices in the classroom. The study's conclusions confirm that high teacher well-being requires a structured implementation strategy to mitigate student academic stress and sustainably improve the school's safety climate. This model serves as a crucial bridge in ensuring that teacher well-being is internalized into meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: Islamic religious education (PAI) in Indonesia plays a pivotal role in nurturing the character, morality, and spirituality of the younger generation. Among the key institutions delivering PAI are Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which integrate religious and general education within a unique cultural and educational framework. This study aims to critically analyze the implementation of the Islamic education curriculum in pesantren and to assess its impact on educational quality and relevance in a rapidly changing societal context. Methodology: Adopting a qualitative library research approach, this study systematically examines scholarly literature, policy documents, and prior research to explore curriculum practices in pesantren. The focus is on understanding both traditional and modern models of curriculum integration and the challenges faced in adapting Islamic education to contemporary educational standards. Main Findings: The study reveals that traditional pesantren, emphasizing classical religious sciences, often encounter difficulties integrating competency-based curriculum reforms demanded by modern education systems. Conversely, progressive pesantren that adopt competency-based frameworks exhibit significant improvements in educational quality, particularly in practical skills aligned with societal and workforce needs. However, the transition remains uneven and faces structural challenges. Novelty/Originality of this Study: This research offers a novel perspective by highlighting the tension between maintaining religious authenticity and pursuing educational modernization in pesantren. It proposes a strategic model for curriculum transformation supported by government policy, teacher capacity building, and infrastructural enhancement. This study contributes to reimagining Islamic boarding schools as dynamic institutions capable of preserving religious values while equipping students for global challenges.

Abstract

Despite growing policy emphasis on positive discipline in Indonesian schools, empirical evidence on leadership predictors of discipline culture remains limited. This study examines whether principals' transformational leadership is associated with positive discipline culture in Indonesian public primary schools. Using a quantitative ex post facto (correlational) survey design, data were collected from 130 teachers across 20 public primary schools using proportionate stratified random sampling to ensure school-level representation. Teachers completed validated Likert-scale questionnaires measuring transformational leadership (36 items; α = .975) and positive discipline culture (36 items; α = .975). Simple linear regression indicated that transformational leadership significantly predicted positive discipline culture (R² = .579; B = 0.718; p < .001), representing a large effect size (f² = 1.375). This study contributes district-level evidence positioning positive discipline culture as a proximal organizational outcome sensitive to transformational leadership behaviors. Implications for principal professional development, leadership coaching, and district-level supervision are discussed. The cross-sectional, self-report design limits causal inference and generalizability.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of teachers’ pedagogical competence on learning quality in public elementary schools in Tanggungharjo Subdistrict, Grobogan Regency. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 137 teachers selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires measuring pedagogical competence and learning quality, and were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression with SPSS. The findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between pedagogical competence and learning quality (r = 0.832; p < 0.001), indicating a very strong association. The coefficient of determination shows that pedagogical competence contributes 69.3% to the variance in learning quality. The regression equation (Y = 27.769 + 1.045X) suggests that improvements in pedagogical competence are directly followed by increases in learning quality. These results highlight the critical role of pedagogical competence as a key determinant of instructional effectiveness and emphasize the importance of targeted professional development programs to enhance teaching quality in elementary education.
